Flex :: Handling Multiple Artifacts From Single Maven Project
Oct 12, 2010
I have a maven project that produces many artifacts. Of course it is kind of against maven best practice (one pom one artifact), but it is Adobe Flex project that produces many *swf modules and it is really makes no sence to create a separate project for each module.
For me it would be very convinient to handle all swf modules as a single zip archive eg. zip archive would be my artifact.
So I am looking for the way to pack and unpack my zip artifact with maven.
I have created a simple mxml file with code as follows: <s:application..........> <s:BorderContainer> <s:SkinnableContainer id="firstRow"/> <s:SkinnableContainer id="secondRow"/> <s:SkinnableContainer id="thirdRow"/> </s:BorderContainer> </s:application>
Now I want to apply different font size, font color and font type and background color on each row i.e each of the three skinnableContainers.Currently I have defined 3 different skin classes for each of row but I think this is a bad programing. I should create a single skin class for outermost container i.e BorderContainer and any how provide different fonts and background color to all the 3 child containers through that skin class. So, is it possible that I can create single skin class that can provide different decorations to each of the child container.
With parent artifactId of swf, swc, war set to swf, swc, test respectively. On executing mvn on test folder(for that matter clean or anything) I get this following error.
G:Projects est>mvn -e + Error stacktraces are turned on. [INFO] Scanning for projects... Downloading: http://repo1.maven.org/maven2/com/test/swc/1.0-snapshot/swc-1.0-snapshot.pom
[code]....
Looks like its trying to download the project from maven's central repository instead of building it.
I am going to write a build commands for flex 4.5 project, which is only based on actionscript not with java. I am very new to both maven and ant.So can you people suggest which is more compatible and robust with Flex 4.5
I want to have a single event listener for multiple events and depending on the type of event i want to handle them separately.Something similar to Swiz framework see: 'Handling Multiple Events from a Single Method'.i have a piece of code like
var toolOptions:UIComponent=ToolOptions.createToolOptions(type); if (options != null) {[code]....
In above toolOptions is a mxml component which get dynamically created based on 'type'.Also which type of event should be dispatch the event from the component? eg: Event.SELECT. To be more precise the above is basically required for a toolbar. When user selects a tool,he is shown options for a tool and when he selects options, tool should apply them to object on the view.
I would like to know how to proceed to set up a work environment in order to develop Spring BlazeDS applications. Those server applications are meant to be accessed via AMF remoting from some client Flex application.Actually I have Maven and m2eclipse set up and working, local JBoss v6.0M2 running, Flex 4 plugin installed.Ideally, I would like to know how to create an eclipse project in which I can have both server (Java) and client (Flex) code and be able to deploy everything in one click to JBoss. Maybe there is a special Maven archetype for this setup? If not, I will be happy if someone can provide step by step instructions to setup all this stuff.
I've got a Java/Flex project that I'm building using Maven. After doing some research I'm using the Flexmojos project [URL] for the Flex part, and almost everything seems to work fine so far (after a bit of struggling). I'm using version 4.0-alpha-5 (4.0-SNAPSHOT didn't seem to work for me).The Flex projects isn't recognized by Eclipse as Flex projects though. If I manually change the .project file and add .actionScriptProperties and .flexProperties files, Eclipse seems to recognize the projects as Flex projects.
I've got a multi module Maven project (about 10 modules) where 2 of the modules are a flex project and its corresponding server project, communicating via BlazeDS. The server module is dependent on another module containing common things, shared over the whole project. When using objects from the common module, the objects aren't serialized and sent via AMF to the SWF. Everything in the server-module is serialized and is working fine, but the objects from the common module (which has valid values on the server side) is not sent to the client.
I'm using Flexmojos to build this. What do I have to do to make the classes in the common project available for serialization, and being able to use them as RemoteClass-objects in my swf-project?
Is there any way how to compile maven/flex project which does not contain any *.mxml? The flex project contains ActionScript classes only (i.e. "src/flex" directory contains *.as files only). My pom.xml is here:
Flex stylesheets are parsed by the compiler and bundled with their assets (graphics, usually) into a swf file, which can then be loaded at runtime. I've got a project with a fixed number of styles (currently 4: old corporate style, new corporate style, and high contrast versions of both). Using Flash Builder (Eclipse with Flex IDE plugin) I'm able to have all .css files compiled to .swf files alongside the primary project artifact .swf file. This is also possible with ant scripts.
My current understanding is that Maven wants to only create one artifact per project (POM file), but may have some additional ones added (like zip packaging). For scalability reasons - I've got a complex setup of many library and module projects, several of them having their own individual stylesheets - it would be very impractical to split up the projects into the 'main' project and copies for each stylesheet. At least on the Eclipse project side, having some subfolders with POM files in each, all refered by a master pom file and referring the same src/ location (and being inside one Eclipse project) would probably work. Though that's ugly and needs individual artifactIds for each, and still need to be assembled somehow.
The important thing is to be able to have a final assembly which contains the (Eclipse) projects main swf file and each stylesheets swf file (and some static files like localized texts to be loaded at runtime). This will be part of a large assembly of several of those projects which I've described in a separate question.
I'm using Eclipse 3.6.1 (Helios) with Flash Builder Plugin (i.e. Flex4), targetting Flex SDK 3.5 (FlashPlayer 10.0). I've installed Maven 3.0.2, using Sonatypes flexmojos-maven-plugin 3.7.1 (as it seems more active than the one from Servebox). I've manually created pom files for my projects and they work (though only compiling one swf artifact file, depending on whether I specify the main .as or one of the .css files as sourceFile)
I've tried for some days now to understand "The Maven Way" (which seems to be tailored for Java and not fitting perfectly for Flex), but couldn't get this to work so that I have a single project, or at least a single assembly with everything in it.
I have a flex maven project written by externel company that I need to modify. I dont have a Flash Builder licence yet (it takes forever to buy anythng in my company) I installed Netbeans 6.5 and FlexBean but when i opended flex maven project the action script code is ont recognized as action script by the IDE. Ho to make it "flex aware" ?
I am porting an existing project from Flash Pro to Flash Builder. The code is almost completely portable between Web/Android/Projector/AIR, and I simply change a few constants for each target device before hitting publish...However- in Flash Builder, it asks me when creating a project whether it will be mobile or web. What's the best-practices way to target multiple devices from a single project in Flash Builder?OR, in Flash Builder, must they each be their own project? If they must each be their own project- is there a multi-project organization method which works well, keeping in mind that in this context each project is really just a different build of the almost-identical codebase (On one foot- I thought of having a "common" project
According to Cairngorm architecture, we always have a fault handler in every command class for each service. How we can create a single Class for handling Fault handler event for all the services.
I want a chart that has several separate series running in rows across. They are largely separate charts and should not overlap, but all share the same horizontal datetimeaxis. They don't share the same y-axis, however and that's where I'm getting stuck.I have tried having a linechart series and then a plotchart series, but it will only allow a single <mx:series> per chart without having them inside the same series which as far as I can tell will place the charts on top of each other in the z-axis. I can stack them and have them completely separate charts, but it was proving to be somewhat irritating having them align correctly.
Is there any reasonable way of combining multiple charts into one like this? Basically having rows in a table where each row is a different chart but the columns are consistent. or am I going to be best served just by stacking separate ones? an illustration of what i'm going for is here: http:[url]........
I have an ArrayCollection bound to a view, I use a filterFunction on this view to only display parts of the contents. Additionally I have another component where I want to display other parts of the ArrayCollection.
What I would like to do is wrap ArrayCollections around each other, meaning I could have one ArrayCollection containing the model data, and then two separate outer ones where I can set the filterFunction property (setting this in the model seems inappropriate in all cases). Is this possible somehow? If not, how else can this be solved, preferably without forcing model logic to end up in my view?
In one of our project we are using flex for front end, blazeds/java in the backend. Its an existing code where services are prewritten. I have to make calls to 3 services in the backend (basically 3 remote objects) and get their result and store the result in an object and show the data of this object in a view. Now in front end we are using Flex and Parsley Framework. I was thinking of the following approaches.
1) Making commands for each service call and storing the result in a shared object (model) and then displaying this model in the view. In this approach the problem is some services are needed in some other web pages, but they donot need the same model. How should i handle this scenario ? Should i make a asynchronous remote call and fetch the result and then again dispatch and event with the event object storing the result.
2) Making a service call , wait for the result then make another call and wait for the result and then make other call, not sure if this is the right way ?
I have a couple of remote object methods that I want to respond to in different ways depending on the context, but I'd rather not set up a bunch of different RemoteObject aliases. Some background: Let's say I have an admin application that displays sales stats in different ways. The remote method looks like:
<mx:RemoteObject id="rpt" destination="AMFServer"> <mx:method name="getSalesStats" fault="getSalesStatsFault(event)" result = "getSalesStatsSuccess(event)" />[code]........
The getSalesStats method takes an employee ID and a sales type as its arguments. You'd call it like:
rpt.getSalesStats(120, "peanuts"); public function getSalesStatsSuccess(e:ResultEvent):void { salesdata:ArrayCollection = e.result.rows as ArrayCollection;[code]......
I'd like to pass something through the remote method to the responding function, like:
How can i maintain DPI resolution calculation for various device and UI management for eg,iPhone having action bar at top/bottom , iPad app has control bar component instead. Is it possible to maintain application in SINGLE CODE BASE.
we have java and flex projects at work. We currently have 1 base pom that contains the configurations we want to use for both projects. Problem with this is: flex projects inherit configuration for javadoc and pmd for example, which they do not want.
I want to do this a bit more clean and have a real base-pom and then a java-base-pom and a flex-base-pom. But how does this work in a multimodule that has both a flex part and a java part?
We have plugins to our own application where we use the following structure:
The my-plugin just contains a pom.xml with section. I would use the my-plugin pom.xml as a parent to both, but then I cannot also use the java base-pom or the flex base-pom also as parent.
I have an application in flash, I build in ActionScript 3.0 Flash IDE, my application loads some external swfs which mentioned via XML file. Its working fine at the moment. But I need to compile all these external SWFs and xml file into single exe file. How can I compile like this. or how can I code like this?
EDIT: 1 from here : [URL]
You can see an example, the application is build in .net and it import pdf and publish it as flash projector or web based(swf). How is it compiling all the external SWF files.
How can I populate multiple datagrids in flex with a single datasource that is filtered differently for each datagrid. I'm assigning the event.result from my remote object call to three different array collections, each with its own filter function. When I assign and refresh the filter functions, they each affect all array collections. So, the results of the last array collection refresh end up in all three datagrids.
I have data model (dataProvider as ArrayCollection) i want to display in few views , each view should show filtered data. As you probably know, filterFunction is property of ArrayCollection,so I can't use this solution (unless creating new instance of ArrayCollection for each view on top original and impementing filterFunction).
I have a flex datagrid with 3 columns. The first column contains the image name(unique key). The other two columns have username and size details. I want to split the username into lastname, firstname, address and some other stuff. Can we have multiple rows in the grid for one image? Tried multi-line, it works but we need to keep adding spaces and its cumbersome. Since each row in the flex datagrid is represented by one index in the XMLList which is enumerated, is there a way to have more than one row assigned to one image and shown in the grid? something like this.
I have created a custom component that I am using, more conveniently, as a SkinnablePopUpContainer and I want to use the same function that calls and receives data from it for several Buttons in the UI. What is the best way to achieve this without having to create a new function for each button?
I want to show the second line series underneath the first one, however with this code they are appearing sequentially. Not sure how to make sure they are overlayed! I followed some code I saw for combining charts.. not sure what to do.
I want each item in a list to change to a totally unique view file. Instead of 10 items in a list all going to 1 new view but with different info being generated I want 10 different view, 1 per item in the list. I can't find any examples of how to do this and I have been tryingo to make it for for a while. This is for a mobile app.
I have multiple items in my app that I would like the user to click on.Some items are completely different classes. The classes dispatch events and then when the events are captured, some modifications are done to the transform properties of a loosely coupled display object.I want two separate classes to dispatch the same type of event, since I already have an image class that draws images based on a given url... I want the classes to dispatch the events, but then I think I want the difference to be detected when the event comes along... i.e., I would like to recognize the 'origin' or 'sub-type' of the event. Some sort of if/then logic would suffice.
I imported an .fxp project into a Flash Builder and then observed there are 5 .mxml files in the src/(default package) directory. Silly question -- how to run each of these five files?
Since I've named the project differently than any of the .mxml files, whenever I try to run something it uses the default (empty) .mxml file named after the project. Deleting that empty mxml file didn't help anything. I also tried to clean the project, but nothing changes (although I see the directories refresh with the same contents). There are no html files in the bin-debug directory.
There must be some simple way to run those .mxml files that I'm missing.
I'm using flexmojos 3.8 with flex compiler 4.1.0.16248.My Project compiles fine in Flash Builder, but with flexmojos / maven I get the following Error: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: UncaughtErrorEvent
