Flex :: Assign Variable As Class In Flash Builder 4 Hero SDK
Jan 17, 2011
I am trying to assign a variable to a view navigation as follows:
protected function list_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
{
var name1:String = list.selectedItem.vPage;
var name2:Object = list.selectedItem.vPage.valueOf();
[Code]....
As the View is presented as a static and not a variable. When you try to submit it as a variable in any format (String, Object) an error occurs.
Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert "IM" to Class.
how I can send the (View)Class as a variable or if this is a bug in the SDK
I have two scripts in a View, one script is inside a Component. In the Component script I need to add numbers from data as they are added to a list and then display the total in a label placed in the View.If I declare the variable in the first script, the Component script can't see it and if I declare it in the Component Script the label can't see it.How will I declare it so that everyone in the view can see it?Here is the code, the problem is where should I place the var MyTotal so it can be used anywhere in the view:
<s:view <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ //if I place it here the next CDATA inside IconItemRender can't see it. private static var MyTotal:Number=0;
Given a dynamic or non-dynamic class like the following: package { public class MyClass { public var myProperty:String; public var myBooleanProperty:Boolean; public function MyClass() {} }}
Flex 3 allows you to assign a value to myProperty like this: myClassInstance["myProperty"] = "myValue"; myClassInstance["myBooleanProperty"] = true;
I regularly parse XML to get property names and their values then update correlated classes using this technique; however, Flex 4 no longer allows assigning the boolean property. I don't have a work-around.
If you trace the results: trace(myClassInstance.myProperty) // Returns "myValue" trace(myClassInstance.myBooleanProperty) // Returns null
In my flex 3.5 project, I have a class (MyItem) extending Canvas. In this I have declared a private variable named itemInfo which is type of ItemInfo (which is another subclass of Canvas).
I wrote code to hide/show the iteminfo when the mouse is over/out of MyItem. I am not getting any error but it is not showing the itemInfo as expected, when debugged the code, surprisingly the variables tab in debug window does not have the variable itemInfo at all.
I have declared a dummy:int variable and it is also not visible.
I have the class with builder and methods. Can i send function to a builder of class as a variable? I want to set individual functions for some samples of class.
I'm new to Flex/ActionScript (.NET/Java has been my main playground so far).I'm trying to build a Flex app that has a list that is meant to look and behave like an infinite list (of items - which can be any object). The idea is that the user should be able to scroll up or down and never reach the end of the list in either direction.
An example would be a list of numbers. Scrolling up will show negative numbers; scrolling down will show positive ones. Now, my list is a simple Flex Spark list (using Flex Hero).It is bound to a data provider that is an ArrayList.My initial idea was to listen to the scroll event and add/remove items as needed. However, in the current build of Flex Hero, there is a bug that doesn't raise scroll events for vertical scrollbars sometimes (http:url].....).So, I'm using the workaround suggested in the link above (i.e listening to the propertyChanged event of the list's scroller's viewport. The event though only gives me the current verticalScrollPosition. And it looks like the default spark list supports smooth scrolling and raises the event many times before the list scrolling comes to a standstill (it is a nice visual effect).Now, I need to :
Figure out whether it is scrolling up or down (how do I do that?)
Figure out which items are visible. I can get this from:
list.dataGroup.getItemIndicesInView()
Add/remove items as needed, so that the user can scroll up and down forever, never reaching the end of the list in either direction.
I've tried the following code but it doesn't work. (comments in code).
Why does FlexBuilder insist on a main class in the root of the source folder? By insist I mean that if I create an Actionscript project called MainTest. A file called MainTest.as will be placed in the root of the src folder. if I now create a package/folder called some/package and place the MainTest.as in it (and adjust the package statement accordingly), I cannot select the project to use this as the application class in Properties/Actionscript Applications as the package is empty as far as Flexbulider is concerned.
So there is a restriction that a main/application class cannot have a package other than the root package. The mxmlc compiler and FDT do not enforce this restriction so why does Flex Builder?
I need to pass a struct and a string in a web service. I am using a WebService components to do so.upon my search, there is no struct type in actionscript and so I used a class for that one.
public class UserInfo{ public var name:String; public var dateAdded:Date; }
and I'm filling it up so that I can pass it on the web service like this:
var newUser:UserInfo = new UserInfo(); newUser.name = "myName"; newUser.birthdate = new Date(); webServComponentId.operationToCall(newUser, "password");
Upon sending this request, it prompts me an error of Error #1088.
the component that is being called by webServComponentId.operationToCall(newUser, "password"); is this:
I have my custom component and for example few Label. I want to pass to my component value which will be assign to label's id.[code]Error: {test} is not a valid identifier.
I am building an Android application using Flex Hero. When I run the application I can package it fine on my mobile and run it on the device, however, as soon as I want to run in debug mode on the device, the device gives me a message like: "Can't connect to debugger (192.168.1.12). Enter IP-address or hostname". The device is connected with a USB to the PC and USB debugging is enabled on the device. I have tried to shut down the computer's firewall, but no result.
Does anyone know if there is a way to make the new Package Explorer window in Flash Builder emulate Flex Builders 'Flex navigator' window?
Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
I would like to know if it is the same to assign properties to my custom component in its own class, or from the parent document. Here I assign the property bottom in my custom component class:
I just upgraded to Flash Builder 4 (beta 2) from Flex Builder 3 which I have been using since it came out. Problem: All the projects that were in my workspace from Flex Builder 3 did not carry over into Flash Builder 4 (e.g. in the "Flex Navigator" view if FB3). Flash Builder 4 now uses the .FXP format to manage projects, but Flex Builder 3 did not. Is there an easy way to get all my projects back into Flash Builder 4?
I need to call an HTTP service using Flex that has variable arguments. I'm using Flash Builder 4 (Gumbo) to create the service definition, but there's no UI for variable arguments, and the subclass of HTTPServiceWrapper that it creates doesn't seem to support it.
Ok, I need some help on this one. I upgraded from Flash Builder 4 to Flash Builder 4.5 and have switched my project to the 4.5.1 sdk. I use an ant script to build my project, so I modified it to use the appropriate flexTasks.jar, mxmlc, etc...
Now, if I start out with a blank bin-debug folder, then build and run the app everything works fine. However, if I then make a code change and build (without deleting the bin-debug) then run the app I get a runtime error:
I want to use mutliple images in my flash script and instead of writing tons of code I want to get the 'currentTarget' and assign a variable name to it so I can tweenlite it . Instead of me naming all the instances i thought the following would work but it doesn't.
wedding.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, pan_over) ; function pan_over(e:MouseEvent):void{ var ct:string = Event.currentTarget.name ;
I have external XML, for example: <node><![CDATA[Some text {VARIABLE} and some more text]]></node> Then in Flash, when XML loads, I want to assign {VARIABLE} with some flash variable.
How do I configure an ActionScript Project in Flex Builder 3 Pro so that I can compile an ActionScript class that is part of a package into a swf. For example, the class that I want to compile to swf is:
package utils { import flash.display.Sprite; public class Tool extends Sprite {[code]....
RootASProject is being produced by one developer, subASProject1 and subSubASProject1a by another developer, utils.Tool by yet another person.This directory structure enables each person to independently build modules and other resources, and quickly test the entire product.It is also important to note that these resources are loaded at runtime.So, class definitions must be fully qualified. For example, Tool.swf contains/defines "utils.Tool" not "Tool".
Developing with just the Flash IDE, this directory structure is not a problem. We create a Tool.fla and assign utils.Tool as it's Document Class then in the Flash IDE's Publish Setting, we set the class path to be NOT the current directory (.), but instead the RootASProject directory. If it were set to the current directory, the error would be: A file found in a source-path must have the same package structure '', as the definition's package, 'utils'. ToolTool.as. We're familiar with this error message and so I recognize that the Flex IDE is by default looking in the current directory for a subfolder, utils, to match the packaged class.
In the Flex IDE, I can add the utils parent, RootASProject, as an additional source path, but I do not know how to stop flex from looking in the current directory first.Using an ant build file, I can set the source path to RootASProject and the mxmlc is able to build utils/Tool.swf just fine. Apparently, it uses just the source paths passed to it, and does not automatically look for utils in the current directory.
I want to change the value of a variable which is inside another flash movie .I have loaded the swf file.Inside the 'onLoadInit' function i wrote the code like below.
I have an AIR project that I was working on Flash Builder 4.5 which now I'm trying to import to my updated Flash Builder 4.5.1 and it is prompting me to fix some paths before the import is completed. I'm kinda clueless what I should put in those fields.

When creating an Actionscript Project in Flex builder 3 an application class is automatically created and dropped in the root of your source folder. In my case my source folder is called src/.Is it possible to change the default application class to a class which is not directly in the root of the src folder? It seems when right-clicking on class files which are in sub packages the 'Set as Default Application' option is not selectable.Is this done on purpose by Adobe to enforce all pure AS projects to have their application class residing in the top-most package?
I have an HTML button that I need to dynamically assign to an AS3 variable when clicked (in order to load an .mp3). I am using externalInterface.call to collect javascript variables - I am just unsure how to change these dynamically when a button is clicked.
I am trying to migrate a project from Flash Builder 4.0 to Flash Builder 4.5. After Flash Builder prompts me to choose my new SDK, I choose 4.5, Then I get the following error:" error "The required skin state 'disabledWithPrompt' is missing".
Since I updated to the latest build of Flex Hero (4.5.0.19786) AdvancedDataGrids flicker in design view with Flash Builder Burrito preview. Has anyone run into this and if so is there a work-around besides dropping back a version?
Update 02 19:29 : This did not occur in previous Hero builds, e.g 18623.I am using the default Spark theme, nothing else particularly special.
Update 01 19:15 : I tracked down the problem to an instance of a custom (default custom, i.e the result of doing new->component based on AdvancedDataGrid) on the same form.
I'm currently working with Flex Hero mobile 4.5 to develop a mobile program.I have searched some forums allready but nobody can help me with this.How do you change the backgroundcolor of your mobile program.I have allready tried to use:
