Android :: Flex Hero - Mobile Phone Cannot Connect To Flash Debugger
May 6, 2011
I am building an Android application using Flex Hero. When I run the application I can package it fine on my mobile and run it on the device, however, as soon as I want to run in debug mode on the device, the device gives me a message like: "Can't connect to debugger (192.168.1.12). Enter IP-address or hostname". The device is connected with a USB to the PC and USB debugging is enabled on the device. I have tried to shut down the computer's firewall, but no result.

The window for Flash Builder's mobile device emulator (in AIR) seems to be a bit too tall for a resolution running 1280x800. Is there a way to make it run smaller? 1280x800 is the highest resolution set-able on the laptop being used to develop for it.

I get this error every time:
Error occurred while installing the application:
864 KB/s (33668 bytes in 0.038s)
pkg: /data/local/tmp/Main.apk
Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_MEDIA_UNAVAILABLE]
I have a very simple "HelloWorld" action script mobile app which simply adds a text field to the display list. Running the app on the desktop using the HTC Desire simulator works just fine, however testing on the device is throwing that error.
On the phone I have installed the Adobe Air available on the Market, the device is connected and the version of android running is 2.3.3.
I can't seem to get away from this error. I've tried creating flex mobile projects and imported one of iBrent's tutorial projects [URL].. to see if they work but alas I get the equivalent fail error.

Using Flex Builder 3 : I have been getting this problem in every single debug launch for past few hours. I used to get this earlier too, but once in a while, not with every debug launch. I found out that flex debugger uses a certain 7395 port but I can't figure out how to change it?

I'm trying to create a custom component which displays a red rectangle in the middle with the following Flex Mobile project for Android (in Flash Builder 4.5 Burrito) -
MyComp.mxml (has no errors):
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<components:MobileApplication
xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
[code].....
even though I have added c:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash Builder Burritosdks4.5.0frameworkslibsmxmx.swc to Flex Build Path (by clicking "Add SWC" button in the project properties dialog).
PS: Power Stackoverflow-users, consider adding a tag for Android-AIR or Flex-Hero or maybe Flex-Mobile

I just finished my installation of Adobe Flash Builder 4. I've definitely installed the most recent flash player from Adobe's website onto my computer. Also, in the run configurations of flash builder 4, I changed the source path from the .html file to the .swf file that is generated. I don't need to test it in a web browser, I just want to run the swf in flash player.
I only have 1 .as file in my actionscript project and there is no code written in it other than the package, class and main function statements. When I run the .html file, it runs fine, and debugs fine. However, when I switch the source path to the .swf file, it runs fine but doesn't debug!
When I debug it, the progress gets stuck at 57% and it says "Waiting for Adobe Flash Player to connect to debugger..." in the "Progress" tab. After a few minutes a window pops up that says:
"Failed to connect. The session has timed out. Ensure that you have run the application with debugging on and that I have the debugger version of flash player."
What can I do to fix this? I am on an intel Mac running OS 10.6.5.

How do you scroll an editable TextArea (Flex Hero) on a touch device? I am referring to the situation where the text does not fit in the TextArea height. When I try to tap and drag the text gets selected and not scrolled... Am I missing a something here? I am using verticalScrollPolicy = on (also tried auto).I am testing the code in the Blackberry Playbook simulator (my targeted device for my app).

I have a service that uses computer webcam via Flash. Now I'd like to develop an Android optimized version of the service using HTML5 + Flash and then use some HTML5 wrapper to get an app.
I wonder if it's possible to use the same ability of Flash that provides an access to user's phone camera (frontal) on the Android (tablet pcs, smart phones). I know Android supports Flash since 2.2, but I failed to find any information on hardware access.

I have a AIR for mobile pure AS3 project that saves a file on the device the first time it runs into the file.applicationStorage directory. The second and subsequent times the application launches I need it to look at that file I've saved.
My problem is that when I debug the application from Flex Builder 4.5 it wipes the application and application storage. So the application always behaves like it is running for the first time. I can't get into a debug session and step through my code as I read in that file.
Does anyone know how to connect to a debug session running on the device? My device in this case is an Android Samsung Galaxy S.

If so, how do I get a P12 out of it to use in Flex.

I am building an Adobe Air Mobile application currently targeting Android (and eventually iOS). I'm using Flash Builder 4.6 (which is Flex).I have a requirement to download a zip file from a url, save it to local storage and unzip the contents. There seem to be a few example on how to do a download in Flex/Air, but not many in Flex/Air/Mobile. Additionally, the mix of examples seem to be all over the place with namespace versions, etc. Edit: What I've tried:So, from the examples on the web, the first thing I did was add namespace in Flex declarations: xmlns:net="flash.net.*" Then I added the following component: <net:URLLoader id="urlLoader" /> Then, in the button click event, I called it: urlLoader.load(new URLRequest(downloadUrl)); I get a run time error: Error #2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error. I am trying to adapt an existing flash web chat application for the Android mobile phone and I am having this really annoying issue. The server is a custom based solution and can send back both binary messages or XML. So I can use either XMLSocket class or the Socket class to get data from the server. Everything works fine when deployed and I connect from the desktop but when I try it from the android mobile I get the infamous errors #2031, followed by #2048. Now the crossdomain.xml file is rock solid and works well for desktop. When the connect socket method runs I see that the server replies with the crossdomain file but I get the error when running on the mobile. Has anyone bumped into this? Is there some limitation from the mobile phone part. I wasn't able to find anything relevant for this issue, in terms of the phone not allowing Socket or SMLSocket connections

I'm trying to implement the 1.6 Mobile Facebook API [URL]into an Air for Android application. I've succesfully used the Web and Desktop API's however with the mobile app it's expecting an extra parameter to a stageReference, see:
login(callback:Function, stageRef:Stage, extendedPermissions:Array, webView:StageWebView = null)
But, using i'm using Flex and not Flash CS5, i can't just pass in this.stage or this or anything like that. What exactly would you guys think I need to pass into that using Flash builder Flex? I can't seem to find any examples for the mobile actionscript API ?
Here's the login information from the Mobile API Docs:
login () method
public static function login(callback:Function, stageRef:Stage, extendedPermissions:Array, webView:StageWebView = null):void
Opens a new login window so the current user can log in to Facebook.
Parameters
callback:Function — The method to call when login is successful. The handler must have the signature of callback(success:Object, fail:Object); Success will be a FacebookSession if successful, or null if not.
stageRef:Stage — A reference to the stageextendedPermissions:Array — (Optional) Array of extended permissions to ask the user for once they are logged in.webView:StageWebView (default = null) — (Optional) The instance of StageWebView to use for the login window For the most current list of extended permissions[URL].
