I can add the services to the Data Services panel but I have two strange things:
1) when I want to configure the return type he doesn't let me create a new ValueObject type, I only get the bottom datagrid which states: Properties returned by the operation: Property: country_Id, provence_Id, city_Id, id_cdpc, district_Id with the related values on the right side. Why can't I create a new data type on the top?
2) When I accept this and want to add the service call to a button (drag&drop) I get the following error: Error occurred while generating code. Make sure that there are no compiler eroors and try again after reopening the file. Componentn type services.cdpc.CDPC not found... (ps: When I perform a Test Operation everything seems to be ok, I get the expected output values)
Flex :: Good Or Bad Examples Of FlashTechnology Use
Dec 26, 2009I'm a PHP programmer who's learning more about adobe products including flex, and would like to train myself to recognize when flash/flex is the right technology to use for a client/project (and of course when it's not the right technology to use).I guess the best way to get it is by experience, so if you know of any examples (full site or even small part of a site) that you think the developer was right or wrong in choosing the flash technology for that project/part, please add it here with an explanation why. Same for other projects that were not implemented in flash but should have been. If you think the developer made the wrong decision, say why and what you would have used instead. The idea is to provide real examples to help people like me who are getting into flash/flex, but want to understand the right way to fit it into their work if at all.

Aug 31, 2009I am trying to create a simple board game (a kind of checkers), where users will be able to play online with each other using flex application as a client.
I am using django application to process the game on the server side. And I come across the problem, if one user made a move, I can send it to a server, but how do I let the opponent know about it?
The way I am thinking to do it is to create a timer and send requests to the server asking was opponents move done or not....But here we have 2 limitations:
1) Each client would produce big amount of requests (not sure how server will work if I have e.g 100 such clients)
2) If players will chose game with a time limit for example 5 minutes/per game it will be very important to show them situation on the board as soon as it changes (without a pause), but timer will send request only on timer event, so if for example I will chose tick interval to 5 seconds it will mean that 5 seconds another side will not be aware of the situation changes.

Sep 6, 2010I am trying to access a .Net service which requires an authentication header. If WebService is used it works fine. But when it is accessed using HTTPService it throws error. The project is already done by somebody else using HTTPService. Now changing to webService requires some time since there needs to be modification in a lot of files.

Jun 20, 2009I have a grails application that will be rendering an html page into a pdf file and I have a flex application sitting on a server that is going to accept REST parameters and construct a graph based on the parameters (which will be formatted in JSON). What I want to do is make a call to the flex app with my parameters and have the flex app create the graph, render a JPEG of the graph, then send an image back to grails. In other words, I want to put an HTML img src=that will render the image directly to the page so that my PDF Plugin in grails will render it into the PDF.

Dec 1, 2011determine what is preventing my web service from being called. We have a working application in production and the developer who wrote it has left. am trying to build it on my machine and I can see a web service call in fiddler being made with the URL "/Services.asmx/MethodName" (as a GET request).I have set my break point in the asmx web service and it is not being hit. All I get in the flex front end is a pop up with " The remote server failed to respond and may be offline. he web service is in the same application as the web app that hosts the SWF file.I have the cross domain policy file in place.

I have a flex web application that searches clients with both full name and client id, when searching by name sometimes the usuer just types the last name and it takes a long time.
Since the app is used when clients are waiting in line, I would like to be able to stop the search and use their full name or id instead, and avoid waiting for the results and then having to search the user manually within the results.
I meant "web service" I actually meant mx.rpc.soap.mxml.WebService, I want to stop it from waiting for the result event and the fault event.

Apr 28, 2010I am bussy with a Flex Project with a data services. Flash builder installed Zend Framework with Zend_Amf.
When i run the project i get the error NetConnection.Call.Failed: HTTP: Failed. With chalers i say that Zend_Amf give the error: AMF data is incomplete (0 bytes of 0 bytes). Please check the recording limits in the Recording Settings.
I don't know what the problem means. I have searched on google, but i haven't found a good result. The Flex project code is:

Jul 6, 2010My flex 3.5 application has an audio player whose content is accessed by calling an AMF service to get the mp3 data. As far as I can tell, flash.media.Sound is initialized with a URLRequest, so it's not clear to me how I can provide it with data using my RemoteObject.
I want to do one of the following things:
Provide data to the Sound object's load method from a RemoteObject service call.
Create a URLRequest object that will perform the requisite AMF wrapping so that my service implementation will look exactly like any other service call if at all possible. Any alternative that allows me to invoke a PHP4 AMF service and play the audio it returns in a Flash audio player.

Apr 8, 2011I have successfully generated my web service proxies using the FlexBuilder menus. This particular web service has an internal (or incorrect) "location" specified in its WSDL. This means that when I go to make an actual method call, it fails because the DNS name specified in the location field is wrong. (It shows as "aborted" in fire bug).
How do I set the location attribute on the service object?

Aug 19, 2009Web service calls are asynchronous in flex, but I wanted to wrap a web service call in a class to provide synchronous encapsulation. Something like the below - the user could call getMyMethodResult and get the result returned by the web service. I expected the thread that recieved the soap response would populate the variable _result and mean that getMyMethod would, after a time, find _result is not longer null. But it doesn't! Can anyone explain why this does not work?[code]
