Feb 4, 2011I am trying to find an easy and robust way to override the default layout of DataGrid and populate its values in a left-right fashion. To illustrate:My data model is an array of: {a: xxx1..n, b: yyy1..n, c: zzz1..n}The default DataGrid component will lay this out as:
a b c
xxx1 yyy1 zzz1
xxx2 yyy2 zzz2
xxxn yyyn zzzn
etc.
With "a", "b", and "c" as the headers, and x, y, z being their values for each object in the dataProvider.Now I want to lay this out horizontally like so:
a xxx1 xxx2 xxxn
b yyy1 yyy2 yyyn
c zzz1 zzz2 zzzn
I've searched around for an answer but haven't hit on anything. Perhaps I'm just using the wrong keyword searches...Regardless, if anyone knows a solution to this, be it as mundane as a property setting I've somehow missed, or a 3rd party component, etc.
ps: Eventually, this must be entirely tab-enabled and cell-editable. If you have an esoteric solution involving a multi-field itemRenderer, please keep this in mind. I mention this because I have attempted such a solution and have failed to penetrate DataGrid's Unfailing Field of Tab Vitiation (ie DataGrid seems to override tab functionality inside its itemRenderer, forcibly setting focus to the next renderer/editor).

Mar 15, 2010I am working on a problem since a week soon, but I still couldn't make it work as expected. I have a DataGrid which has HBox with a CheckBox an a Label as itemRenderer (see Code below). When I tap in to the Cell the standard itemEditor pops up and lets you enter the content of the label. Thats the standard behavior. I works fine except for 2 problems:
If I enter to much text, the horizontal srollbar pops up, and the cell is filled with that scrollbar. As you see I tried to set the horizontalScrollPolicy to off, but that doesnt work at all... I tried to do that for all the different elements, but the failure is still existent. When I have filled more than one row, there is an other mistake happening. If I tap on a row, the datagrid selects the one below that row. That's only if one line is already selected. If I tap outside the datagrid and then, tap at any row the itemEditor of the right row will show up... Is there anything now wright in the setup of my set data method?

Jul 26, 2009I've written a Flash (Flex) client connecting to a back-end server to exchange data. I've also written my server from scratch, and it serves two purposes:
(1) Web (HTTP) Server- By default listens on port 80
(2) Socket/Application- Server - By default listens on port 443
Just FYI, both servers run in the same process space, for convenience reasons. They are not expected to handle massive loads, so I'm fine with that. As soon as the Flash client is served to the browser from the HTTP socket, the client attempts to open an XMLSocket to the Socket/Application server. I now want to implement HTTP tunneling, so that my client can connect to the Application server even if the user is behind a firewall. I do not want any external servers involved (proxies etc.) - simply use the servers I already have.
My questions:
(1) Is it better to use port 443 for that? (does it better fool firewalls?)
(2) As far as I can see, what I am required to do, is just ensure that my actual application data is simply encapsulated in an HTTP structure (preceded by a dummy HTTP header), both from the client and server sides. Is that so or am I missing anything here?
(3) Do I need to keep hiding/encapsulating my data every message I send through the socket, or can I just encapsulate the first message when opening the connection?
Flex :: Possible To Implement Facebook In Adobe?
Feb 13, 2010I am considering creating a website with the complexity of Facebook that should be able to scale into the millions of users. My question is: Is there any reason not to use Adobe Flex for such large project apart from the obvious point of requiring everyone to have Flash installed and not having to rely on Adobe? In my view Adobe Flex would reduce the server load for Facebook, because more of the work could me done on the client side.

So we have used HTTPS as the channel and also we are encrypting the Request Parameters and Some data before we sent it to Web Services.Everything seems OK.But when we gave the application for Security auditing they found we have hard coded the encryption key in source code. They have used Sothink SWF Decompiler to look into my SWF file. They caught the key and raised concern over it.
We have developed this application using Flex 3(SDK 3.4). Is there any best way to use Secret key without being hard coded in source code. If anybody come across this kind of problem, please let me know. use the secret keys in SourceCode without being Hard coded.
