Mar 13, 2010Mac OS 10.4.11; Flash CS3.I cannot change the tool any more. It's stuck on the eraser. It doesn't erase anything, but I can't change it to another tool.I uninstalled Flash, preferences and all, and re-installed it, but the problem persists. Interesting is, my customized workspace is still there, even though I had all preferences and anything else that has the name "Flash" deleted.At the same time the computer opens both CD trays when booting up. Never did that before. So I re-installed the OS, but that didn't help either.

Jul 4, 2011I have a requirement to create a drawing tool. I have completed till where on mouse down i can draw and on mouse up i stop the drawing. Now i want a eraser in place; something very similar to what is there in paint. So on mouse down of the eraser and moving over the line segment should erase the portion of the lines.

Feb 15, 2010In the previous version, the eraser tool only erase things on the single current active layer, but then in CS4 (maybe it's just my problem), the eraser tool simply erase everything on the stage, no matter which layer they are in, except in locked layer.
Is it a bug for cs4 or hv I set something wrong or what?

Sep 26, 2010I did make a eraser tool. But once I begin to erase a layer, the background layer is visible. I want the layer just below the topmost layer to be visible.
For eg consider 2 layers. Layer2 is above Layer1. When I perform erase on Layer2, I see the stage background. I want to actually see Layer1 when I erase from Layer2.

Flash :: Copy Channel (BitmapData Class) - Eraser Tool
May 3, 2011I am developing an application similar to MS Paint. I am building a Flash Paint application. The basic structure is this. I have two layers namely topLayer_mc and bottomLayer_mc. The actual vector drawing is drawn on the top layer and onmouseUp of the tool, a bitmap copy of the vector graphics on the top layer is taken and added as a bitmap to the bottom layer. The top layer is cleared subsequently. It is working for the pencil tool.
Now I need to create an eraser tool. This is where things get tricky. In the application there is an option to save the image as png, so alpha has top be preserved. So the coventional method of draw a brush using the vector and using the draw method of bitmap will not work. Of course, on a visual level it would work if the brush drawn using the vector is to have the same color as that of the background. The eraser's are rectangular in shape.
The technique I am tring to use is to use the copyChannel method of BitmapData class. Specify a channels (say GREEN channel )hex value as 00 and make it as the source. Then make the destination channel ALPHA. I got it working without using movieclips as shown below.

Professional :: Making Video Transparent, Which Tool?
Aug 25, 2010I have cs4 web premium which doesn't include aftereffects. I need to however make a green/blue backgrounded video transparent (alpha channel, if I got it right) to be used by flash/as3. I'm not sure if I can use either firework or illustrator do the job? another question is, for a short movie clip, which tool can be used to edit the movie frame to turn the non-green/blue clored backgroud into green (then adding alpha channel...)

Is there a way to locally cache the 3D map tiles and data so that I can run this app without an internet connection? And if not, is there a 3D GIS that supports Flex integration and allows for a local map cache?

This process can take a bit of time, so I would like to implement a "Please wait..." modal popup to let the user know that everything is alright and the program hasn't frozen. Jul 26, 2009I've written a Flash (Flex) client connecting to a back-end server to exchange data. I've also written my server from scratch, and it serves two purposes:
(1) Web (HTTP) Server- By default listens on port 80
(2) Socket/Application- Server - By default listens on port 443
Just FYI, both servers run in the same process space, for convenience reasons. They are not expected to handle massive loads, so I'm fine with that. As soon as the Flash client is served to the browser from the HTTP socket, the client attempts to open an XMLSocket to the Socket/Application server. I now want to implement HTTP tunneling, so that my client can connect to the Application server even if the user is behind a firewall. I do not want any external servers involved (proxies etc.) - simply use the servers I already have.
My questions:
(1) Is it better to use port 443 for that? (does it better fool firewalls?)
(2) As far as I can see, what I am required to do, is just ensure that my actual application data is simply encapsulated in an HTTP structure (preceded by a dummy HTTP header), both from the client and server sides. Is that so or am I missing anything here?
(3) Do I need to keep hiding/encapsulating my data every message I send through the socket, or can I just encapsulate the first message when opening the connection?
Flex :: Possible To Implement Facebook In Adobe?
Feb 13, 2010I am considering creating a website with the complexity of Facebook that should be able to scale into the millions of users. My question is: Is there any reason not to use Adobe Flex for such large project apart from the obvious point of requiring everyone to have Flash installed and not having to rely on Adobe? In my view Adobe Flex would reduce the server load for Facebook, because more of the work could me done on the client side.

If you use the mac, the behaviour I'm looking for is something like what the Dock uses; when you drag something out of the bounds of the control it should get an icon that indicates that it'll be deleted (OSX uses a cloud or something?) and then if you release it it will be removed from the list.

Apr 12, 2011we have one application where we are pulling some confidential information from one of the product design tools. So we have used HTTPS as the channel and also we are encrypting the Request Parameters and Some data before we sent it to Web Services.Everything seems OK.But when we gave the application for Security auditing they found we have hard coded the encryption key in source code. They have used Sothink SWF Decompiler to look into my SWF file. They caught the key and raised concern over it.
We have developed this application using Flex 3(SDK 3.4). Is there any best way to use Secret key without being hard coded in source code. If anybody come across this kind of problem, please let me know. use the secret keys in SourceCode without being Hard coded.
