Professional :: Stuck On Eraser Tool

Mac OS 10.4.11; Flash CS3.I cannot change the tool any more. It's stuck on the eraser. It doesn't erase anything, but I can't change it to another tool.I uninstalled Flash, preferences and all, and re-installed it, but the problem persists. Interesting is, my customized workspace is still there, even though I had all preferences and anything else that has the name "Flash" deleted.At the same time the computer opens both CD trays when booting up. Never did that before. So I re-installed the OS, but that didn't help either.

In the previous version, the eraser tool only erase things on the single current active layer, but then in CS4 (maybe it's just my problem), the eraser tool simply erase everything on the stage, no matter which layer they are in, except in locked layer.
Is it a bug for cs4 or hv I set something wrong or what?

I have a requirement to create a drawing tool. I have completed till where on mouse down i can draw and on mouse up i stop the drawing. Now i want a eraser in place; something very similar to what is there in paint. So on mouse down of the eraser and moving over the line segment should erase the portion of the lines.

Ive got this problem: the users of my webapplication can upload pictures and draw on them, but would it be possible to let the user erase parts of their uploaded picture (jpg or png) using the eraser tool?. like upload the picture and then convert it to a file that the user can manipulate?

I did make a eraser tool. But once I begin to erase a layer, the background layer is visible. I want the layer just below the topmost layer to be visible.
For eg consider 2 layers. Layer2 is above Layer1. When I perform erase on Layer2, I see the stage background. I want to actually see Layer1 when I erase from Layer2.

I am developing an application similar to MS Paint. I am building a Flash Paint application. The basic structure is this. I have two layers namely topLayer_mc and bottomLayer_mc. The actual vector drawing is drawn on the top layer and onmouseUp of the tool, a bitmap copy of the vector graphics on the top layer is taken and added as a bitmap to the bottom layer. The top layer is cleared subsequently. It is working for the pencil tool.
Now I need to create an eraser tool. This is where things get tricky. In the application there is an option to save the image as png, so alpha has top be preserved. So the coventional method of draw a brush using the vector and using the draw method of bitmap will not work. Of course, on a visual level it would work if the brush drawn using the vector is to have the same color as that of the background. The eraser's are rectangular in shape.
The technique I am tring to use is to use the copyChannel method of BitmapData class. Specify a channels (say GREEN channel )hex value as 00 and make it as the source. Then make the destination channel ALPHA. I got it working without using movieclips as shown below.

I purchased Flash CS4 (Adobe probably laughed at me, saying "SUUUCCKKKERR"). I'm having a serious problem with some of the panels randomly freezing. Mainly, when I edit ANY text on the stage, or in a movieclip, the text tool panel will freeze up the properties, and I cannot bring up any other object's properties. I have to CLOSE Flash CS4 completely. I've tried to simply close the project, then reopen it, but the text panel gets stuck on EVERY project I open, until I completely close down Flash CS4.
I cannot find any solutions to this problem through Adobe, and apparently Adobe doesn't provide support to me because I purchased Flash CS4 from a reseller..... (NICE).
Needless to say, I knew Flash would go downhill the second that Adobe bought out Macromedia. Adobe basically takes something really well made, cuts it up and bloats it out to create something almost unuseable. Sound familiar? (*cough microsoft)

I have a movie which is serving as a button.When you rollover the image, it grows, and stops.When you rollOut, it shrinks, and stops.This code works fine. The Problem:When you scroll the mouse over quickly, the animation get stuck and doesn't execute the rollOut code.This is most likely because the first rollOver action hasn't yet completed.Here's my code:

however i'm not able to use eraser, when i select the eraser shape and mode i can see a eraser moving over the area i actually want to erase, but in the end the layer is still there... i did search all criss cross the menu, cannot find, i'm sure it's something funny, how can i apply eraser fully?

I have 1656x1332 px 30fps movie clip sliding or rotating on click event inside of 850x550 px stage. For some reason the clip gets stuck on rotation sometimes, even though the whole file is only 46 KB. Moreover, depending on browser, the rotating part can fly completely off the stage and the only way to get it back is to refresh.[code]

I run a school lab with a few users on each machine. One students came up with a problem. She is always in outline view, even when the outline button in the layers panels is not punched. When I log in to the same machine, I do not have the problem. I assume the problem is in the user preferences file. We are on Windows 7. I went into AppData and deleted what I thought was the preferences file, but it continues to return. Anyone have any ideas why I can't get her out of outline view? Adobe Flash CS5

I've been working in flash for an independent studies course and I've come across an issue that is halting my class's progression. My Fill Color swatch is stuck as a transparent color and when i attempt to change it by clicking a color or typing in the color's code it doesn't change. Update:
-The issue is still there, but I've found that if I click the "black and white" option it enables the ability to change the fill color again, but only after that.-
-Another issue is that the color of text is also stuck on transparent unless I go into the color window, the box that allows you to select custom colors, and select a color from there.

When I use the play option under "control" menu every thing runs perfectly. When I try to test movie under control menu, play as exported .swf, or debug movie, etc. the animation is stuck at the initial screen.

A few months ago I viewed an SWF file (original.swf). Ever since, if I double click to launch a different SWF, it always and only plays original.swf. I've tried restarting, reinstalling... but with no luck. Why did it "stick" on this video

In my adobe Flash CS5 when i create a new symbol it opens in a new screen as normal. the stage that I can edit it on however is stuck in the top left when I zoom out and it's starting to drive me nuts. I can't work with it like that.

I found that .fla files do not save in Flash CS4 when the Deco tool or Spray Brush tool is selected. Is this a bug? Or is there a workaround to this issue.

This is a very very basic question.I am able to colour and otherwise manipulate elementary vector objects, such as rectangles. Yes, I know how to use the colour panel and the fil land ink pot tool. However, sometimes I can colour a vector shape drawn with the pen tool and sometimes I cannot. It seems completely random.In detail: select keyframe on an empty layer.I make a triangle with the pen tool, and a small circle shows completion. I get a triangle.This is coloured not for the stroke but for the layer. It seems to exist in two densities - a layer coloured line for drawing, a thicker, same-coloured one after selection.However, neither the ink bottle nor the fill tool do anything. I can set the colour in advance, or after the event, through the colour panel or otherwise, nothing. A gradient fill does not even show the guide lines for the fill tool.

So we're sitting here at the studio trying to figure out how to use the pen tool without a stroke. We do most of the work in Illustrator, then paste it in Flash. Unfortunately, some objects sometimes disappear while breaking the object down, which means that we have to do some actual touchup work in Flash.

for my class i have to draw this fish. in one of the steps it says to draw fins with the pencil. then it says to use the paint bucket tool to color it in. however i cannot color it in. i used all the options too, close small, medium, & large gaps and i still can't color it in. does it have to connect to the start point? i simply attached it to the fish's body. i started over on the 1st part of this 3 time already, and my patience is wearing thin.

I have an issue with my Cintiq not drawing smoothly in Flash. I need to sketch incredibly fast and loose. Flash used to work just fine but now it suddenly began drawing really crummy. I posted some examples of flash as well as Photoshop, Sketchbook Pro, and ToonBoom Animate Pro which is another vector graphics tool. I thought the vector graphics may be the issue but that app seems to handle the drawing excellently (now if only it did the other things Flash can do). Here's some examples of how they're looking. It may be hard to tell in these already loose sketches but the performance drop is really a big difference in responsiveness between Flash vs the other apps here:[code]Does anyone know why my cintiq is causing flash to draw so poorly? In photoshop, you can create a path with the pen tool and then make that path a selection as if you'd used the lasso tool. How do you turn a pen path into a lasso selection in Flash (CS4)?

I'm having trouble with the Flash CS5 Bone Tool, Everytime I create 2 sets of objects whether its legs or arms, when I duplicate them. break them apart and make a second set of arms and legs, the two characters I assign them to, swap around when I saved them. So one has arms instead of legs and legs instead of arms, but the other character is completely unaffected. I move the bones within the symbols and they return to normal but then it affects the other character and vice versa.
