I am developing an air application where I have to drop an image and save the Image path, width, height to variables and pass those variables to external swf. I load the swf like this:
var myLoader:SWFLoader = new SWFLoader();
var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("myExternalMovie.swf");
myLoader.load(url);
I am getting this error: the way I am passing the URL of the swf is incorrect and not supported in AIR.
My problem is i had 2 swfs parent.swf and child .swf and i loaded the child.swf file in parent.swf using Loader class there is a textbox and a button in child.swf when we enter text in the textbox(say,notepanel_txt) and click on the button(say, mySubmit) the text present in textbox(notepanel_txt.text) is saved in the database using URLLoader and an variable called success(which is String type) must be available to parent. the code is as follows:
I would like to pass over 50 items of variables from php to flash. Actually I want to pass array with foreach statement, looping through the array and assigning loop index to the variables and flash again accept the php values through looping. Is this possible? If passing values through foreach or loop statement is impossible, I would like to break a new line in tag. how can I break a new line in FlashVars tag?
I've read a variety of pages that describe how to pass a variable into a flash movie (AS3, player = v9) from the html in which it is embedded. This page describes AS3 but neglects to mention what to do with the object and embed tags in the noscript section. Furthermore, I'm not sure the javascript I see generated in my page looks like the example there (the js in my page doesn't check AC_FL_RunContenta against zero)This page is quite long and appears to deal mostly with AS1 and AS2 approaches which I have used before and neglects entirely the newish javascript approach which appears to be used to embed flash these days (i.e., the javascript function AC_FL_RunContent).I was wondering if someone could spell out the proper way to pass in a variable from HTML so that flash can see it in such a way that works even if javascript is disabled, in all browsers, etc., etc.
I am using flash vars to pass variables into my swf file.but i want to refetence a Mc by using a flash var. [code]how Can i call a Mc from the flash vars and have it do something

I've tried to attach the HTML generated by the Flash IDE to this topic but both HTML and zip format were rejected for some reason.
I'm creating a flash project and would like to pilot the most variables (eg: colors, texts, sizes, ...) from a single XML file and then spread them in my document class.
Code: public var yourName:String; public var myXMLLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); public function intro():void {
[Code]....
Right now I got no errors but I got nothing when tracing the "yourName" var.
I need to pass multiple flash vars into my swf -- I see multiple places in the adobe-generated HTML in which to put the flash vars. While I can do this successfuly for one flash var, I can't for more than one (I'm using something like this at the moment, which works, but cannot be extended URL
loadVariablesNum("produkter.txt", 0); import TextField.StyleSheet; var myCSS:StyleSheet = new StyleSheet();
[Code]....
and a dynamic textbox called "myHTML". If I name 'var' on this textbox everything works fine, but I want to write it in actionsscript instead. Where do I write that? (I have 3 different vars in the text-file)
I'd like to set two seperate variables from two external .txt files, while I'm not new to AS 2 this is something I've never had to do and after searching for examples I've found that most apply to dynamic text fields. I simply want to populate some variables
I'm importing a SWF by URLRequest, and I need to read from a var that is in there (actually, is a textfield).
Code: //loading my local swf file (wich is a keyboard) and placing it where it goes var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("keyboard.swf"); var loader:Loader = new Loader();
[Code]....
as I'm trying to cast my displayobjet to a movieclip I though I would be able, but im not
I've loaded a movie into a movie.the loaded movie is loading dynamicly some pics and text. when a movie is loaded, does everey movie got it's own _root?
so i've got a swf that opens a new window with a swf . (AS3) i want to send these 4 :
[Code]...
how can i send these 4 to the clients.swf and how do i check on the other side if they exist or not ? i searched and got all sort of details about flash -> php , as2 to as3 , swf loaded in the same swf as child etc. But i couldn t not find something spefici to my problem . Also i want to use something like POST so the url looks clean as it is .

On my html page I have two frames, one for navigation and the other for content. The navigation menu is an swf. Most of the content is html, except for the 'gallery' page.
The thumbnails for the gallery appear within the navigation. I can get the pictures to load from the thumbnails into the 'content' frame using LoadVars sendAndLoad.
However, doing this means that the flash gallery refreshes itself each time a thumbnail is clicked (thereby losing the transition effect).
So, how do I load the images in the other frame without reloading the flash??
I'm importing external vars using loadVariablesNum() from .txt files. I know that each variable must be surrounded by amperstands (&) in order define the start and end of each variable.
ie: Code: &var_1=abc& &var_2=xyz& And then I want to use something like: [AS]mc.gotoAndPlay(_level#.var_1);[/AS]
But my question is (for simplicity), is there a way to do this if the amperstand at the end is not included, such as:
ie: Code: &var_1=abc &var_2=xyz
Flash returns the first variable above as var_01="abc " which is understandable since it was not closed properly. However, I want to be able to use the gotoAndPlay(); with var_01="abc ". I have tried labelling the frame with abc , but that didn't work.
I also tried using frame_array = new Array(_level#.var_1.split("")); and then said gotoAndPlay(frame_array[0]); but for some reason I couldn't get this to work either....
since i started using Flash Builder (Flex 4) i could see that it can auto-generate some handlers for example if i have a <s:Button> and i add a click="" i get a hint of "Generate Click Handler" and when i click Enter he writes this code:
Code: protected function button1_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { // TODO Auto-generated method stub }
Now i knew about public and private things(functions/vars) and if a function was public i could execute it form outside of the class and inside. But if it was private i could only execute it from inside of the class and i couldn't execute it from outside of the class.
So anyway, what does "protected" mean? what does it do?I was thinking that if i load a SWF in my app I can go inside of that SWF and execute functions, read values from variables, or anything like that ... and that seems like a security problem ... So i was wondering if the "protected" keyword could help me with this security problem. And if not, I would like to know what is it good for
I've created a Flash video player that I regularly embed into HTML pages and use flashvars to update the path of the video to be played. The variable that I reference is named "videoURL" and is passed as a flashvar using "'flashvars', 'videoURL=myVideo.flv,"
The problem that I am having is when passing that same variable into my SWF when it is loaded externally into a new Flash file. I load the child SWF into my main FLA using the Loader class and I am able to run a successful trace on my variable using "trace(MovieClip(loader.content).videoURL);"
Obviously, I can't overwrite the variable with "videoURL = 'newVideo.flv'" as I have not defined videoURL in the main FLA. So my question is, how do I target my child SWF and what method do I use to pass it a variable? I'd assume that the correct method would also allow me to call a function from within the child SWF.
I hope that someone can explain this to me as every "solution" I've come across either suggests using HTML or Javascript, references AS2, or simply doesn't directly address my problem.
I have an external log file which name changes each session, with the format XXXXX.log
I need to load it inside a swf to show its data, but each time the logs name is different, I need to open the .fla, changing the name of the file and then republishing the swf.
So I have made a simple script to load another .txt, to type manually in it the 5 number of the logs name and load it externally inside the swf:
Code: var logNumLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); logNumLoader.dataFormat=URLLoaderDataFormat.VARIABLES; logNumLoader.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loadedLogNum);
[Code]....
While I cannot assign the value of logNum to the last function, the .log cannot be opened.
