I have datagrid binded with data acquired from web service which, as you may suspectretrieves data from some db. Datagrid has some editable columns and I want to update db through appropriate web service call without adding button "Update" as a last column in datagrid.
View 1 RepliesIm working with a flex application that pulls data from a java class file using message handler event. The received message string is added to ArrayCollection. The string consists of codeID and other values related to codeID. Had displayed the detail in a datagrid. The codeID is randomly generated and is pushed to flex for every second. Now, the problem is, I needa update the datagrid cell values, for instance, if i have pushed codeID's of (0001,0007,0005,0003) to the front end, that displays the corresponding values of each codeID in the datagrid, second instance of (0001) should update records in the existing row of (0001). I tried to check the existence of codeID in ArrayCollection using search algorithm, but dont know how to proceed further.

I have a project with an XML Connector that goes out and gets data from an xml file and displays it in a label in my flash. It does this when the swf file loads using ActionScript in frame 1. The ActionScript is simply: this.labels_xc.trigger(); It loads the data from the XML file no problem. But the data in the XML file changes every so often. How do I get the swf file to go out and get the new data on a regular interval (say every 2 minutes or so)? I've looked at scripts with timers and I can't figure it out. Is there a way I can preserve the scroll position for my DataGrid?

In my Flex Project using Cairngorm, I have a model that stores a bindable ArrayCollection displayed by a DataGrid. My problem occurs when the model is updated by the responder (from a Java service, after an "update" event), because the focus located in a cell of the DataGrid is lost (the scroll position il also lost). So, I retrieve the position before the update, with DataGridEvent.ITEM_FOCUS_IN event :
myModel.focusedCell.rowIndex = e.rowIndex;
myModel.focusedCell.columnIndex = e.columnIndex;
But, from where restore these parameters ? How to trigger this update only when the model is updated ?
I have a Datagrid that is being populated by an ArrayCollection (rows) of Arrays (columns).I need to update the headerText of each column based on a List that will correspond with the total number of items within each array in the arraycollection. What is the best way of doing this? I know that I can set a listener in the List and update the headerText using (matrixDatagrid.columns[i] as DataGridColumn).headerText but I am looking for a cleaner solution.

I am trying to drag and drop hierarchical data in the same advanced data grid, and I would like the data provider to updated when the ADG is updated. (I want to be able to save and load this tree, so it is important that drags and drops are saved.)

The sample app has an ADG showing hierarchical data as well as flat data. The first column of each datagrid shows the rowindex of the underlying data.
If you rearrange the items on the left ADG, the row indexes become unordered. If you click traceTree you see that the data provider is not in order.
On the other hand if you do the same on the right, the row numbers stay ordered even when the objects move around and if you click traceFlat, the data provider is in the order shown on ADG
My goal is to have the data provider order match the ADG order for the left grid which is displaying hierarchical data.
How can i update multiple cells of the same row changing the value of a single cell of the same row ??
Example: id, height, weight, fat percentage, corporal mass. When i change one of the values in a row (except id of course) the corporal mass cell value must change using a formula like: (height/weight2)*fat percentage*100. Is this posible with Datagrid or AdvancedDatagrid in Flex ??

I have a component A in my flex project where people can vote for their favourite artist. Someone "likes" an artist, it get's updated in my database. There is also a component B that shows a chart of the most liked artists. I call the data from the database on creationcomplete in Flex. The problem is that when a person first votes on an artist, it will not be visible in the datagrid untill the user reloads the main page (?) or reopens the entire application. So i was wondering how i can update the datagrid everytime someone adds a vote to my database. I'm now using an update button, but that's not very user friendly of course.
View 4 RepliesTo situate things I am working on a translation utility with a datagrid having 3 columns : translation code, reference text and target text.
The DataGrid's dataProvider property is bound to an ArrayCollection instance. The user can edit the grid and on a successful edit, the underlying collection is updated using the setItemAt() method. The collection also has a filter function to make it easier to find certain texts.
When the user clicks the 'apply filter' button the filter function is updated. This works well. The problem I have is that rows are hidden as soon as the underlying collection item change in a way that doesn't comply with the filter. The row is hidden immediately, which is not very user friendly. Rows should only hide (or be shown) when the 'apply filter' button is pressed.
I have an AdvancedDataGrid that uses HierarchicalData to display data in a tree format. For one of the columns, I'm using an AdvancedDataGridRendererProvider to conditionally display an image if certain conditions are met. I'm currently using the ToolTipManager to display additional information if the user mouses over the image.Here's what I would like to do:Instead of showing the toolTip when the user places their mouse over the image, I would like to automatically display the toolTip whenever the image is visible in the AdvancedDataGrid. If the user scrolls through the AdvancedDataGrid, the toolTip should move and follow along with its image accordingly.

I want the selectedIndex to remain the same. So, if I delete item 2, the next in the list should be selected. The problem is that if I delete item 2, item 3 will be selected and I have no idea why.
I've got a Gridcolumn in a Datagrid (Spark). The Column's dataprovider is a Number value that gets updated via Binding.Now, without an item renderer the cell displays the correct values.If I set an item renderer, I can't access the values in this renderer.My renderer looks like this, so nothing really do here (for now) but to trace the value, but the value is always NaN.

_listItems is an ArrayList with instances of a model class, which has (amongst others) a property called change of type Number.
I have a DataGrid whose dataProvider is an Array of int Arrays (each with different lengths). Since each row has variable size (and I want to display all the data), I decided to extend DataGridColumn and overwrite the itemToLabel function to be able to display the data. The problem is that I also need to display the data differently depending on the int value.
I believe the only solution is to write an itemRenderer, but the only input the itemRenderer.set(data) function receives is the entire int Array. I believe I need either the exact string returned by itemToLabel or the column index of the cell the itemRenderer is for (to basically do the same parsing I implemented in itemToLabel).
I have a main.mxml application that lays out my application, it contains a "browse and upload" button. And contains an image to view the users uploaded image like so:

In my myModel class I have a img_scld_bm that the browseAndUpload() function draws into after scaling it.
My intent is that my mx:Image will display the image. As shown here I'm assigning the image source="mymodel.img_scld_bm", this ends up just showing a broken image icon.
I also tried data binding, where in my myModel class I have [Bindable] var img_scld_bm. And then tried setting my mx:Image source="{myModel.img_scld_bm}" .. that didn't seem to do anything either. All this compiles fine, no warnings. I think in this case, I'm not setting a trigger or propertyChange event to update the binding?

I think I must be missing a step here; I have different data being pulled from an array created from xml depending on a variable (_currentTrackNum).. and the data changes if I set a different initial value for it; but if I change the variable once the program is initialized, none of the data changes even though I rerun the call with the changed variable.[code]

Is there any way, we can load data to it, asynchronously or is there any way, so that more data can be added inside a scroller only when the scroll bar reaches to the end ( as it happens in Android or IPhone).?
I have 2 questions about flex datagrids: How can I scroll it automatically to the bottom when new portion of data arrived to it (e.g. I added new items). Strange, but seems it doesn't scroll when I use scrolling wheel, is there any trick about it (especially for mac Users).

In my case, some user interaction produces new values for the bindable variables "someDataProvider", and "someSelectedItem". However, when flex renders the DropDownList, the control's selected value is empty.
The reason for this is that the DropDownList's "selectedItem" property gets bound before the "dataProvider" property. The "dataProvider" needs to be bound first for "selectedItem" to be valid, this is because the new "selectedItem" points into the new "dataProvider".
what is the best practice for updating bindable properties in a specific order? I've come up with a few ways (e.g. using a valueCommit handler), but I wanted to see what the community had to say.

I am trying out the following code, so that whenever I make a movieclip null, the array containing it's reference too becomes null. I understand the following code cannot do this, but I want somehow, the array can provide information, if the movieclip has got null.

View 0 RepliesHow do I differentiate between a data provider update and a itemrender being recycled when using a custom itemrenderer in a DataGroup?I have overridden the set data function of the custom item renderer, but I have found that on making a change to the ArrayCollection used as the DataProvider some of the item renderers are not assigned the same object they had before the update. This has made it almost impossible for me to distinguish between a data update and an itemrender being recycled. Also, the data never seems to get set to a value = null, so that seems to be out as well.
