Java :: Flex Accessing Https Service Of The Same Domain That Swf Is Loaded
Aug 2, 2011
I am developing a flex application with flex 4.1 sdk and java backend (runs on Glassfish 3.1 via http). For security reasons I decided to move my authentication process to https until a session id is obtained. Therefore I changed the filter settings to use ssl for login and logout pages(just two pages due to performance reasons. The data-size sent to client is large and I do not want to slow down the system). Glassfish forwarded these pages to 8181 port (which is HTTPS port). Everything is ok for the java part. However flex defines the 8181 port as a different domain and then problems arise. Due to flash's same-origin policy it cannot load the secured content. Normally a crossdomain.xml is the solution but I am accessing content of the same domain through a different port. What will be the solution ?

I've been trying to find the right configuration for supporting both http/s requests in a Flex app. I've read all the docs and they allude to doing something like the following:
<default-channels>
<channel ref="my-secure-amf">
<serialization>[code]..........
I'm running with Tomcat 5.5.17 and Java 5.The BlazeDS docs say this is the best practice. Is there a better way? With this config, there seems to be 2-3 retries associated with each channel defined in the default-channels element so it always takes ~20s before the my-amf channel connects via a http request. Is there a way to override the 2-3 retries to say, 1 retry for each channel?

I'm trying a simple tutorial of retrieving RSS feeds from yahoo and keep getting this error: RPC Fault faultString="Security error accessing url" faultCode="Channel.Security.Error" faultDetail="Destination: DefaultHTTP" I've seen some articles that say I need a crossdomain.xml file, but I don't really know how to set this file up and how to use it from the Flex SDK compiler (mxmlc).

We're trying to upload a file from a flex client to a JEE app.
In a full HTTPS environment
JEE server is JBoss 5
Using BlazeDS 'Custom' authentication (username and password are entered through a flex form)
Using BlazeDS per session authentication
In regular AMF calls, we can access user principal and use role mechanism. However, in our upload servlet, we have no access to user principal.
request.getUserPrincipal() // returns null

I have a ValueObject in Java Source Code with a java.util.Date or java.sql.Date attribute and in Flex-AS3 have a DTO mapped by [RemoteClass] using a Date AS3 Type.When I set a date in Flex with 2010-09-05 format YYYY-MM-DD in DateField component and send it to Java, java shows 2010-09-04 there is a difference of a day from flex to java
I'm using Java EJB Service + GraniteDS + RemoteObject to comunication.

I created a Java REST service using Jersey. I use three of the HTTP "verbs" GET, POST and DELETE. I want to create several prototype front ends for the service. After much research, a lot dating to 2008 and 2009, I have been unable to find anything remotely simple.My three options are:
1) resthttpservice. This project hasn't been updated in a year. The only activity are one off suggestions that individual users have implemented.URL...
2) Create an AIR application. This isn't unfeasible.
3) Writing my own socket level code but there is a security restriction with flash players and I need to implement a policy server.
I have already read the question posted about asking whether using Flex for REST services were worth it. That information is old as well. I want to introduce REST services to my company but Flex's limited support for HTTP PUT and DELETE are discouraging. My service also uses the Accept header to determine if JSON or XML will be returned to the client. I can't seem to change HTTP headers without doing socket programming.Is there an easy way to use Flex 4 with RESTful services that uses PUT/DELETE and the Accept HTTP header?

I have been working on a flex application with java, as i have used Life Cycle Data Service for communication, i wana know, is there any function of flex, where i can see the loading status in percentage, that how much record is being loaded.Problem is, if there is lengthy record, no body comes to know, whats happening with software, like in Comboboxes or Grids, users usually think it as a BUG in application, but ofcourse it is not.I need such graphical loader, which keeps on loading with proper status in percentage, until it receives all data from JAVA (SQL Server).

I am building a little Flash app that will consume some web services over HTTP. When I am in Flexbuilder and run my app there, it works fine. When I goto to my FlexBuilder project on my OS and double-click on it, it works fine. When I zip up my bin-debug file, I get this error:
Security error accessing url faultCode:Channel.Security.Error faultString: 'Security error accessing url' faultDetail:'Destination: DefaultHTTP'
So I googled that and got information on about the crossdomain.xml file. Well, I can't put a crossdomain file in the service I am calling, but I can put one somewhere else. So I put the following lines in Flex app:
Security.allowDomain("vx1391");
Security.loadPolicyFile("http://vx1391:8080/job/Remote%20FIT%20Runner/ws/trunk/flash-cross-domain.xml");
[Code]....
Which I know is bad in a prod enivironment, but right now I just need to get this working locally but outside of FlexBuilder.

I am working on an Adobe Flex front-end with a Java back-end using JPA for persistence. he protocol I am using is remote objects (AMF) implemented with BlazeDS.I started out with a service-facade and entity DAOs, but without any specific DTOs. The same POJOs, the domain objects, were passed in the service-facade as those used as DTOs passed to the Hibernate DAOs.However, the latest few days I have been thinking whether this is a good approach or not. The latest article on the subject I read was this one:Interesting JPA Pattern blogThe situation:Say I have POJO Book with a unidirection ManyToOne relation with the POJO Category (i.e. each book may only be associated with one category, but the same category may be associated with many books). I see some alternatives:Alternative 1:I expose a method/operation addUpdateBook(Book book). In the implementation of this operation I add/update both the book and the referenced category.

I have a Flash movie written in Flash 8 with AS2 that is attempting to access a webservice on a server that is https.
I can't get the webserviceconnector to even load the WSDL file.
I have a crossdomain.xml file at the root of my http/https server that allows the domain the swf is being served from to get in and it has the secure attribute for that domain set to false, but it still can't get through.
Not sure what I am missing at this point.
I have a quick update. I figured that since my webserver is serving the secure site up under a different Website in IIS that I needed a crossdomain policy file at the home directory of the site. I have placed it there and when the movie loads I am using loadPolicyFile to get the crossdomain file which still loads into flash without issue but I still get a WebServiceFault when I try to load up the WSDL.
Can anyone point out a crossdomain example where a flash movie on an http domain is accessing a webservice on an https domain?

In a custom MessageAdapter written for a BlazeDS Java server, is there any way to access HTTPSession and HTTPRequest in a custom MessageAdapter.I'm trying to adapt an existing COMET JSON long-poll messaging system to BlazeDS and we use HTTPRequest parameters to specify message sending/polling paramers (such as a unique ContextID for any given page for a user). Is there any type of HTTPSession information we can retrieve in MessageAdapter receiveMessage()?
If I can't access the HTTPRequest (I'm not sure we can even customize it if we're using the standard Producer, Consumer Actionscript classes anyways), is there a way to uniquely identify a given FlexClient long-poll from another long-poll from that client (e.g. if the same HTTPSession user has a tab open to the same Flex application is there any way to uniquely identify that user?).

My application currently contains a number of Widgets that are managed by a Widget Manager. When the user clicks on a widget (e.g. a Helper widget), the Widget Manager loads the widget into a separate sibling application domain with the following line of code:
wgtInfo.load(null, null, null, moduleFactory); //wgtInfo = IModuleInfo
However, I am unable to use the widget's variables and functions later on. I attempt to find the Helper widget from the Widget Manager's list of widgets, and I do successfully. But when I try to caste the Helper Widget from type IBaseWidget (the interface all widgets share) to type HelperWidget, I receive the following error:
TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed.....
This is because the application domain of the class trying to use the Helper widget is different from the application domain of the Helper Widget. I tried to fix this by loading all widgets into the same application domain as the loader:
wgtInfo.load(ApplicationDomain.currentDomain, null, null, moduleFactory);
I now get the following error whenever I attempt to load the Helper widget:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
How can I load my Helper widget into a common application domain that is accessible by the other widgets?

Has anyone used or is aware of a service browser to test AMF calls?I am looking for a tool similar to ZamfBrowser ( http:[url].... ), but one that works for the Java environment.ZamfBrowser is geared towards AMFPHP.The idea here is to provide a service browser, that allows developers to test Java services using the AMF protocol, without having to go through the Flex UI all the time. There has got to be something out there already for this, but I can't seem to locate anything..... It's kind of funny and strange that a service browser exists for AMFPHP but not for regular AMF calls in a Java environment.
I would imagine something exists under Blaze or LCDS? ...Trying to find it in the docs but can't seem to find anything ....The best alternative I can think of at the moment is to use FlexMonkey to record stuff, and then to simulate it using that....which is okay I guess but still sucks because you have to go in and create the Flex UI first, whereas with something like ZamfBrowser, you simply point it at the service calls,it tells the server-side developers if their code works, etc. generates the required as3 classes for you... and makes the integration process much easier in a large team.

I have a Java server application with a ton of different entities. So far, each entity top level entity has its own CRUD service. By top level, I mean the root of a tree of entities that can stand alone.
Now I am getting into the heart of my Flex client and find I am needing/writing many different queries. But where best to put these queries?
Say for example, I have a query to find all "foos" based on their associate with a certain "bar". Currently that query is on the "foo" service (findAllByBar), but I am finding that it would be very convenient to have it (also?) in the "bar" service (findFoos). On the other hand, I could also create a query service and lump all the queries in there.

I would like to execute a cross domain http request from a website. Javascript is out, because most browser don't allow cross domain calls. Generally the solution is to use a proxy, but that isn't an option for this project. The other things I was thinking about would be to use Flash or maybe Java. Are there any other platforms that I could use?

I am experiencing a strange problem when I want to bind a service to a button or something else:
[Code]...
I can add the services to the Data Services panel but I have two strange things:
1) when I want to configure the return type he doesn't let me create a new ValueObject type, I only get the bottom datagrid which states: Properties returned by the operation: Property: country_Id, provence_Id, city_Id, id_cdpc, district_Id with the related values on the right side. Why can't I create a new data type on the top?
2) When I accept this and want to add the service call to a button (drag&drop) I get the following error: Error occurred while generating code. Make sure that there are no compiler eroors and try again after reopening the file. Componentn type services.cdpc.CDPC not found... (ps: When I perform a Test Operation everything seems to be ok, I get the expected output values)

I have a SWf application built in flex 4. One part of the application relies on accessing a public variable ("step1") set at the application root, and is accessed with

i'm trying to integrate with a plain http service which has both http/https flavors available for consumption. sadly they never thought of a flash client consuming these services and it will take another 6 months to roll a crossdomain xml policy file on their service (there security team has to approve the process, pm team has to include it in their roadmap and blah blah). i've already implemented the flash client which works fine from a flash ide security sandbox. is it possible to get around this crossdomain policy requirement.
my flash file will always be hosted as [URL] and i will be communicating with [URL]. i'm saying [URL] because they do some loadbalancing at the backend and allocate random servers on connection (which is fine from their server side design perspective). I tried putting following two lines in the constructor of my movie clip, but couldn't pass through the security sandbox error:
