Javascript :: Jquery - Detect Flash Object Click?

Jun 8, 2011

Is there a way I can have JavaScript/jQuery know when a Flash object has been clicked (and still have Flash process the click)?

I tried putting a table on top of the object with position: fixed and a z-index and the object set to param name='wmode' value='transparent' so I could have my JavaScript detect which column was clicked using jQuery's click(), but the clicks were never intercepted by JavaScript (Chromium Linux).

Javascript :: JQuery Flash Object Click Event Not Firing In IE Or Chrome?

I'm just trying to understand a difference between IE, Chrome and Firefox. I have the following code on a page:

$('object').live('click', function(){
alert('Fired');
});

I then populate the page with some Flash controls (in my case, I'm using Uploadify). When I click on the Flash control, I see the alert in Firefox 4. However, I do not see the alert in IE8 or Chrome (I havent tested any other browsers).

Javascript 3 :: Can A JavaScript Function Detect Which Flash DOM Object Called It

May 20, 2011

Here's the challenge: I have a Flash movie which will be embedded in a page using an unknown DOM ID that I want to be able to identify/store for callback in a JS function. My ideal user flow would be: User clicks button in Flash. Flash pauses any animations / video / sounds / etc. Flash calls an injected JS function to display a page-covering overlay experience. When user closes overlay experience, a callback method on the Flash object is called. Flash resumes playback.

The problem is, when AS3 uses the ExternalInterface.call("functionName", args...) method, there doesn't seem to be a DOM event triggered, and thus it is impossible to tell which object called a JS function, so having a "registerMe()" function doesn't seem to work. Basically, the injected JS function has no way to determine which DOM object to call, because the ID of the Flash object is unknown.

Jquery :: Flash - Click Listener On <object> In IE Failing

Apr 23, 2010

$("#listView object.modal").click(function(){
// Get the ID of the clicked link:
var link = $(this).closest("h2").attr("title");

[Code]....

This fires a modal (jQuery UI). It it working in FF, Chrome/Safari but not in IE 7/8. Is there something I'm missing here?

Big Picture: We're using a swf to render custom type and there is a link in the rendered (flash) content. We're hoping to catch the link action in the jQuery listener so we don't have to extend our swf have an optional param to return false on link click.

Jquery :: Track A Click On A Flash Movie (object / Embed)?

Nov 24, 2009

I am making a dynamic banner system which can handle img banners, as well as flash banners done with object/embed. The entire site makes heavy use of jQuery, including handling the 'click' events.

This obviously isn't a problem when it comes to tracking the clicks on the image itself (i track the click on the parent DIV tag. However, it fails when the advert is an SWF, as I suspected it would.Is there a jQuery workaround that would allow me to capture a click on a Flash element with the DOM?

Javascript :: JQuery Click Event Not Redirecting To Href?

Dec 2, 2010

I've got an HTML page with an embedded flash movie, which has a button. This button in flash invokes the lnkEmail's click event. It's supposed to stop from actually navigating to a new page, but the event.preventDefault(); and the returning of false from the event handler don't seem to be working for me. Can anyone provide insight?

The below example is working in Chrome, but fails in IE 7 and FF. In those browsers it redirects to a blank page with Object [object] as the body and in FF has the url set to the javascript code I execute from within the Flash movie. (ie: "javascript:jQuery('#lnkEmail').click();")

Actionscript 3 :: Detect A Click On A Drag And Drop Object?

Nov 5, 2010

I'm building a flash app that has some draggable buttons on it and I want them to behave like this:

You click on it, ClickEvent1 happens, You click and hold on the button, you can move it. If you release from the hold, it does NOT trigger the ClickEvent

I'm running into the logic problem of not knowing whether a user is just clicking or starting a drag event. Does anyone know any logic to get around this issue? I have thought of alternatives such as placing regions of the button that are only draggable or only clickable, but I've seen this type of functionality in other flash apps and I'm wondering how it is accomplished.

Flash :: AS2.0 And JavaScript / JQuery (ExternalInterface) Communication

So, basically, swfobject works but gives me that strange error sometimes (all browsers), so NOT all my flash banners work, and jquery.flash() WORKS in all other browsers, except IE6.

Javascript :: Update Flashvars And Reload Flash With JQuery?

Oct 5, 2010

I would like to update the flashvars value argument to view another video:

<param name='flashvars' value='movieId=1002' />

I found out that I can make it work in Firefox by updating the parameter with the extra step of readding the whole flash contents.

$("param[name=flashvars]").attr("value", "movieId=33");
$("embed").attr("flashvars", "movieId=33");
$(".root").append($("#video"));

But this does not work in IE8 as the browser won't refresh the flash contents. Any ideas on how to reload the flash contents without external dependencies like swfobject.js?
