I need to be able to detect when JQuery resizes the embedded movie so I can trigger a function in my Flash movie. I created a function which detects if Stage.width or Stage.height has changed but this only works when I resize the window after pressing Ctrl+Enter in Flash Pro and not on the webpage.
View 4 RepliesI have a flash movie embedded on a webpage, it's an intro of sorts, when the movie has finished it removes itself from the DOM but I also want this functionality on flash movie click.so far to remove it after it's finished playing I'm using[code]but it never gets called. I also tried adding the click event to the body and it worked everywhere but not over the top of the flash movie.

View 2 RepliesI have a flash within a holder div (flash container). I use swfobject to insert the flash object (if it makes any difference). I want to resize that holder div to make it smaller in width, when I achieve the "second level" in my "flash application". (with jQuery .animate() function). What "flash application" mean: I have a human body on wich I can click in different body areas. That is the first action - and the effect is to zoom onto that specific area of the body.
Then I can click again on a more specific zone into that area - and the effect consists in fetching some stuff via ajax. (it's some medical stuff, diseases etc.) - that's the "second level" in my "flash application". Then I can click on that stuff fetched via ajax - that's when I resize the flash holder. The problem is that, because of this resizing, my flash reloads and comes back to it's original state, without that zoom level. This reload appears in the "second level", and not when I click on the stuff fetched via ajax and the flash holder resizes. But that's the cause of the reload, because without this resizing, it's all ok. The problem is just in Firefox, I tested it in IE6,7,8, Opera 10, Safari latest and Chrome and there's nothing wrong there, the flash does not realod. Hope you understand what I'm saying here :) if not I cand send you a private message with the URL to see what I mean (I can't make it public)

I need to detect and call some code in JavaScript when the user starts playing the video and when the video ends. I tried putting a table on top of the object with position: fixed and a z-index and the object set to param name='wmode' value='transparent' so I could have my JavaScript detect which column was clicked using jQuery's click(), but the clicks were never intercepted by JavaScript (Chromium Linux).

I would like to take a Flash video that is hosted on another site (like Youtube) and embed it into my own site with a custom designed HTML5 / CSS / jQuery GUI for player controls.

I use the "flashembed" feature of the jQuery tools within a site that is using scrollTo as well. The embeded swf file is my banner and right now it is running continiously. When I scroll to another hash it keeps running in the back and makes the scrolling a little bumby.
how to stop the swf file from playing while the scrollTo script is running?
I have a modal dialog with a flash video on it and I'm using the jQuery draggable plugin to make it draggable. On Chrome, it doesn't let me play the video (when I click on the play button it does nothing, though I can drag the div around if I hold down the mouse). On Firefox, the video will play, but the mouse gets "stuck" to the div and the div follows it around. Is there some easy way to prevent dragging on the flash div?

Is there a way (in javascript) to detect if an embedded .swf was created with Flash Professional or Flex.We have a page with several tabs, each of which can contain an .swf.All tabs are defined within the same HTML file and the javascript framework calls a .rewind() and .play() on the swf when the containing tab becomes active.This works great on regular flash animation, making sure they start playing from the beginning when the tab is opened. On an swf created with Flex however, the rewind and play wreak havoc on the Flex framework and the application doesn't load.
The best way we've come up with to detect Flex is to count the number of frames the .swf has. With flex that's always 2. But this doesn't sound like the best way.We've also tried to add a callback method with ExternalInterface on the Flex application preinitialize event.Unfortunately this event is called quite late in the application startup and the javasctipt code checks the callback before the Flex code has added it.

I'm having issues with a YouTube video breaking a jQuery slider when viewed on an Apple mobile device. The slider uses a set width & height window that uses the overflow:hidden property. It looks great in all browsers except for Apple devices where all of the slides are visible in a row as if the overflow:hidden property did not take effect.

I created an ajax jQuery featured content slider that will automatically navigate through each tab. Each tab has some basic html. The one I used is this one: [URL]. For some reason, when I embed a flash video in it, the flash video overflows the div. It looks fine in Chrome and Safari but not the latest version of Firefox (3.6) on the PC. Is it not handling overflow or z-indexes correctly?
View 1 RepliesI have researched the infamous 'Flash hogging keyboard focus' issue, but I believe our issue may involve a workaround that someone else has already come across. I've tried the various solutions I've found on stackoverflow and other sites, which I summarize below.We have a web app, and a particular interface loads several divs that we are using as "tabs". When a user clicks one of the tabs, we hide the current div and un-hide the new one. Our main tab (which is loaded when the page loads) embeds a document from Scribd, which is loaded as a Flash movie. When a user clicks on the Flash movie, they scroll with the mouse/keyboard like normal, and when they click outside of the document control returns as expected.When they navigate to another tab and then return to the original tab and click on the embedded Flash to navigate within it, the embedded Flash steals control of the mouse scroll and won't let it go. The user can click in this document and scroll with the arrow keys and then click out of the document and scroll the parent window with the arrow keys, but mouse scrolling is still bound to the embedded Flash movie. The only remedy is a hard page refresh.[code]This doesn't work -- I can confirm that the element is removed from the DOM, but when it is returned to the DOM it hogs mouse scrolling when clicked just like before.I also tried a similar solution, but instead of removing the element I called [code]

I have a problem switching the content of a div using jQuery functions clone and append.
In a few words, I'm using two links to show and hide flash videos: link1 shows video1 and hides video2. Link2 shows video2 and hides video1.

Im trying to load a flash movie using swfobject which I have been successful in doing so however the flash movie takes a few seconds to load I wanted to show a simple loading animation however the animation never displays. I commented out the code that embeds the movie and found that the animation does get displayed.

I'm using the HTML5 JW Player. It sizes the HTML5 video correctly, but shrinks the Flash fallback player; here's an example page: Test Page
If you view that page in IE, you'll notice that on panel 5, the video is smaller than the space it's supposed to occupy. On Firefox, it works fine because it's using the OGG video in its HTML5 video player.Is there a way to resize the Flash video via JavaScript/jQuery to fit the same space as the HTML5 video?

i've done work with dynamic .flvs (streaming and prog dl) but never really embedded an .flv in the timeline.
now i've got three of them embedded and i need to detect when each has finished playing (they will rotate).
I can't seem to find any good info on how to control playback on an embedded flv (i chose to embed them inside movieclip symbols).
Im working on a slideshow based on the jquery cycle plugin (found here: [URL]. The slideshow slides between different divs where I can put different content such as images and text. However i'd also like to add swf movies to the script wich just on a basic overview works. The video starts playing when the slide becomes visible but stops before it's done and goes over to next slide.
Of course this happens since i have a timer for how long each slide should be visible. What i wonder though is if there's a way with the script for it to dynimacly get the length of the video and not change slide until the video is complete and just do this for swf videos.
