Web Development :: Web Based Web Cam Recording And Uploading Software
Dec 9, 2010
I'm looking for a software that I can incorporate in my website that can record at a click from the users web cam and upload to the website. It would naturally be restricted to a certain length but is there software out there that can do this? Note: I'm not looking for screen capture software.
I want to have a web site which switches the web camera of users, makes a video recording and send results to my web server. Is it possible to do that? I think it should be. For example such sites as chatroulette.com starts web camera. Should it be done with the Adobe Flash technologies? Is it hard to do that?
the webcam feed must be local, and not local sent to server... this is to maintain image quality, and supress high network traffic of multiple users of one flash movie.
There's clearly a bunch of new stuff in Flash 10, I'm seeing a bunch in the Graphics class so far. Struggling a bit to reconcile it with what I know already but it looks useful - render lists and 3D transforms, etc - however I wondered if there are good arguments for targeting Flash 9 since I can definitely manage without all the new stuff I don't know. Like support on non-Windows devices, wide adoption of Flash 9 Vs 10, etc.
I have been thinking of trying out component based architecture for game development. I have read some blog posts and articles about it but I have a few things I have not sorted out yet. When I say component based I mean that you can add components to a ComponentManager that updates all components in its list. I want to try this to avoid getting classes that inherits variables and functions that they donīt need. I really like the idea of having an really simple entity class with a lot of components working side by side without getting bloated. Also, it is easy to remove and add functionality at runtime wich makes it really cool.
This is what I am aiming for.
// this is what the setup could be like entity.componentManager.add(new RigidBody(3.0, 12.0)); entity.componentManager.add(new CrazyMagneticForce(3.0)); entity.componentManager.add(new DrunkAffection(42.0, 3.0)); // the game loop updates the component manager which updates all components entity.componentManager.update(deltaTime);
Communication: Some of the components need to communicate with other components I canīt rely on the components to be self-sustaining. Sometime they will need to communicate with the other components. In Unity 3D, you can access the components using GetComponent().I was thinking of doing it like this, but what happens if you have two components of the same type? Maybe you get a Vector back.
var someComponent : RigidBody = _componentManager.getComponent(RigidBody);
Priority: Some components need to update before others
Some components need to update before others to get the correct data for the current game loop. I am thinking of adding a PRIORITY to each component, but I am not sure that this is enough. Unity uses LateUpdate and Update but maybe there is a way to get an even better control of the order of execution.
I'm a web designer. In a effort to make Flash-based sites for my clients I have gone over stacks of AS books now for months. I just don't get any of it--and I've tried. Moreover, the books all give abstract examples to do just about anything with AE. My needs are very limited: I need to use AS for web navigation in order to create Flash-based websites. Here's an example of what I'd like my websites to do: [URL]
Can anybody point me to Flash templates, demos, tutorials, AS libraries, websites, videos, classes, that focus on Flash navigation, with specific examples of real life websites? Or blocks of code where all I have to do is replace some lines with my own stuff? Or an AS library comparable to jQuery? I know this has to be doable. I don't know any JavaScript either, but I'm perfectly able to fulfill all my web design needs with jQuery.
I'm familiar with C/C++/Scheme/Java/OpenGL/TCP/IP.I need to learn how to build a tile based / platform flash engine. What tools should I be using? What books should I buy?I strongly prefer tools that let me do things programatically rather than through a graphical UI.
i have build a small test app in Flash Pro 5.5 overlayed with the AIR 3 sdk.is has just 2 buttons to record and playback audio from the microphone. when i test this on my iPhone 3g - i record myself saying "1-2-3-4-5". but when i playback a half a second or so is missing from the beginning : "3-4-5-".
when i test this on the desktop all is fine is this a result of the iPhone 3g's cpu power or is it a bug or is it my code?
Does anybody use bare .SWF files as webpages? I know it's possible; it seems to work fine for me. Why would I embed a SWF inside an HTML page if it's just going to be full screen (I mean the size of the browser's normal viewable page area, not COMPLETELY fullscreen)?
Is there a lack of browser support? Or is this functionality determined by the browser's Flash plugin?
If I load a web page full of other files, e.g. images, my browser doesn't load them all at once.I seem to remember reading that IE will only have at most 3 requests open at a time for a page. The rest will be queued. If I have a flash movie on the page which is continually making image requests, how does this affect the maximum number of downloading files in the browser?
Is this browser limit accurate, and is it generally the same across browsers? Does flash share the requests of the browser? If not, does flash have a limit and what is that limit? For some background, I do have a flash movie that is continually loading files so there is a queue of Loaders waiting to make requests. My idea was that if there was a different request that I needed to be executed straight away I could make it jump the queue by making a javascript call and allowing the browser to make the request instead.
I've been given a Flash tutorial to post to the corporate website that is an .exe file with an embedded Flash player. Users will be on IE, so I guess they would get the run/save prompt. I don't like this and I know it generally isn't done, but I need to know if it is OK to just do it. When I try to explain the security issues with executable files, eyes glaze. Is it possible that the users' system admins would be able to block the run prompt and make the user save the file? Could they block that too? The user community is hopeless, so having the embedded Flash player could be a good thing.
I am designing a website with flash video content. If I pass in the URL to a .flv file as a flash parameter to the embedded video player someone can easily extract the URL and download the flv video file. How to do I prevent this? Can someone refer me to anti-leeching techniques being used my websites like youtube.
I want my site's users to be able to record videos straight from their webcams into my site. Videowhisper is one such tool which seems to work fine - [URL] But I'm looking for opinions on better / more scalable / reliable solutions. Paid solutions are fine.
I just discovered impure.com and was very impressed by what can be achieved in terms of visualizing data using their workspace. Although the platform is free to use, but not open source yet. This causes a few problems because the API section works with .com sites for eg. for ebay, so I cannot visualize ebay listings for regional sites such as ebay.in because the link to ebay.com is hardcoded.I searched around, but didn't find other projects that offer a similar way to work with site APIs and other data sources with the kind of user interface and detail that impure.com does in a realtime way within a browser window. This brings me to the questions:
-What technologies would be involved in creating a similar kind of project
-What are the open source tools that can help develop a fullscreen UI to render the workspace. Are there any alternatives to flash for this, and how do they compare
The goal would be to use standard python data structures, python scripts to do some processing on these data structures, scripts to gather data from csv, json and API sources such as google yahoo, wikipedia and flickr, and scripts to render graphs, tag clouds, network visualizations etc. Then bring them all together into a visual interface that supports drag drop and simple type checking. How would the python backend integrate with the UI.
I'm relatively new to AS3. There's one thing that I don't quite understand about Sprites. I'm making a tile based game, and all the tile graphics for a level are inside one movie clip in each frame. Would I be able to go about creating multiple sprites based on the frames in said movieclip's timeline I would I have to go through and make a separate library graphic for each.
i have to record the video at client side n then save it on server side, so that it can be viewed when ever required.to act like a video testimony by client.
Here, there are two buttons, one starts recording and the other stops recording. The resulting .swf file is only 2kb in size and it doesn't do what it is supposed to do.What am I doing wrong here? Other players similar to this have sizes in the range of 80-100 kb.
I am trying to figure out how to make a flash Application which can allow users to Record Audio from their Microphone. The recording needs to then be uploaded to a web server.I think the best way to do it would be to store the .flv or .mp3 file locally, and then submit the file to the server after the recording is completed.I have read in some places that this is impossible to do, however websites such as livevideo.com allow this too be done with Video as well, so I think Audio should be simple if it can be done with video.
Is it possible to record and stream an air window to flv?
I would like to be able to use multiple video inputs and use text and graphics. To create a video mixer, picture in picture, key in graphics, etc. I'm able to do this on the display but would like to be able to record and stream it as well. I would also like to retain HD resolution. Recording the window maybe a dirty method. Is there another way?
*I've been trying to develop a recording application, it is my first real programming project, so bear with me. What it is is a simple Audio Recorder that records sound directly from the Sound-Card. In other words, what you hear and what comes through the speaker is what is recorded. Many of you may be familiar of this process as a component of the Audacity application by selecting the recording type as Stereo-Mix.*
In making this, I could not find a way to access the users Sound Card directly using actionscript. So what I'm asking is, is there a way to access a users soundcard through AS3 or is it impossible? If there are no pre-built libraries or functions that can do it, would it be possible for me to create one that will help me gain access to the sound card?
Summary: is there usually a lag when recording audio from the mic? I am using Thibault Imbert 'micrecorder' library on google code to record audio from the mic into a ByteArray. I am instructing my users to speak two seconds after the recorder starts. I know its two seconds after the recorder starts, rather than two seconds after the user presses the record button, because micrecorder issues time adjusted events of the recorder progress.
When I get the finished ByteArray the actual floats inside it that record the user speaking seem to be 2.5 seconds worth of samples into the ByteArray! So my question, as this is the first time I have recorded audio, is it usual to find a lag like this when recording? Or do you think I am getting something wrong with my math when indexing into the ByteArray?
I built an application in AS3 a while back that allowed users to select 1 or more files and upload them to a server (not using AMFPHP at the time). That works fine.
I am building a new application that is using AMFPHP and am wondering how I could upload files using it? Any example classes out there?
I am a web designer and have a client who is interested in having a game application created similar to farmville or mafiawars on facebook. This is outside of my realm of Flash for sure and would have to be handled by someone else.I realize there are many factors that affect this question but could anyone give me a ballpark cost of creating an application like that? My client is just curious as to the realistic possibility cost wise?
I've been out of multimedia development since then, but have started dabbling in Flash. The version of Flash my company currently owns is old--Flash MX. It's old, but has been good enough to prototype some ideas that I have.My boss says he's willing to upgrade my version of Flash and send me for training, but before he does so, he wants me to confirm that Flash is the best platform for me to learn. So that's the question: what's the best development platform for multimedia development? I've been reading that people predict Director is on its way out, even though it's more powerful than Flash. I've seen people mention AIR and FLEX, but I don't really know anything about them.
