Flash Is Not Letting Me Transform A MC Bigger?

Aug 13, 2009

Im using CS4 trying to make a tween where I transform a rectangle to go from 2 pixels to about 500 pixels so I can create a transition effect, but its only letting me transform it to around 200 pixels.Am I not doing it the way Flash wants me? How should I transform a rectangle to be a lot wider or taller for a tween?

Javascript :: IE Not Letting Flash Stream Audio

Dec 10, 2009

This problem is happening is both IE8 and IE7. I have a small swf compiled with flex. It's basically just a wrapper around audio streaming functionality. All the controls and such are in html with javascript. I load the swf using swfobject's "static" method. This works great in Firefox and Chrome. In IE, the swf loads correctly, but as soon as I try to stream any audio with it, I get an error. EDIT: I've reduced the code quite a bit to try and find the problem. You can see the new version running here. Here is the error, html and flex files for my reduced version:

I have managed to load in the picture but the transform class doesn't seem want to grab it. Eventually I want to us the FileRef to upload the image but I just need to figure out how it works first. Here my code to load in the external image

The transform class can grab the other movieclips but it doesn't want to grab the new image loaded in from the code above.

Is there a work around to this that I can implement? I tried mouseEnabled = false, to no avail. I'm kind of not sure what else to do.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Letting Each User Select Only 1 Item From A Pool?

Dec 4, 2011

I'm working on an 8-user app that runs over a wi-fi network using an XML socket. All of the hardware is located inside a medium sized room in a school building.At the start of the app, each user can select 1 role from a pool of 8. However, the socket connection runs at less than realtime, probably because of latency from the wi-fi, so it's possible for two users to make the same selection at the same time. How would I prevent this?

Actionscript 2.0 :: Letting The User Capture A Region Within The Stage?

Mar 2, 2009

what I'm trying to do is allow the user to pick a section of the stage, click, and have the region defined be copied and show up on the other side of the stage. It may be better explained to think of it like a camera game. The player has cross hairs, can move the square (which tracks the mouse) around the stage, and click to capture that square's pixel information, store it to a new movieclip and display it on another area of the stage.

I've found many resources online about capturing BitmapData, including capturing from embedded FLV videos, but I haven't seem to be able to find anyone who has created something like this which captures from a moving region. However, I have seen it done before in a game that is no longer online from PBSkids.org.

Here is what I have so far. Right now, when I click the movieclip loads all white pixel data and I'm not sure why.

[flash=]import flash.display.BitmapData;
import flash.geom.Rectangle;
import flash.geom.Point;
stop();

ActionScript 3.0 :: Making Game - Zoom In And Out By Holding And Letting Go Of The Space Bar?

Dec 28, 2010

I am making my first game and it's my first time using actionscript. I am making a sniper game themed with the L96A1 sniper rifle from COD: Black Ops and the map nuketown. I'm in cs5 with ac3 and on my stage I have two movie clips that I'm working with. I'm not really sure if they're supposed to be movie clips though. Anyways, one is the gun, and the other is the zoomed in scope overlay thingy.

For now, I'm trying get the zooming in to work. I haven't done anything else though except collect graphics for enemies, the landscape, the gun, and the scope. I want to make it so that you zoom in and out by holding and letting go of the space bar. Also,I want to make it so that when you are not zoomed in, the gun moves horizontally at the bottom of the screen (aligned vertically with the cursor). And when you are zoomed in, the scope crosshair is the cursor.So my idea was to set the gun as the cursor and make it only move horizontally at the bottom of the stage and then make an event listener that listens to when the spacebar is pressed and when it is, disables the gun as the cursor (and makes it transparent to get it off the screen) and makes the scope the cursor [was transparent, now opaque and unrestricted(vertical movement also)].

I got as far as making the gun move horizontally at the bottom with the cursor. I cant get the event listener working because I don't really know how to go about changing the opacity of each movie clip and how to switch cursors. So I am asking how do I change the opacity and switch the cursors when the spacebar is held and then reverse those changes when the spacebar is released? Here's my code on an "actions" layer [I haven't done any animations yet, so everything is on frame 1. Also, I used a couple preset code snippets since I have no previous experience with actionscript (I can understand most of it though)]:

Code:
import flash.events.KeyboardEvent;
// make gun cursor
stage.addChild(gun);[code]..........

Here's a link to a zip archive with all the files used so far (I hope this google docs link works): link

IDE :: Hardware Acceleration In Flash Games Become Bigger And Faster?

Oct 22, 2008

[URL].. To enable the SWF file to use hardware acceleration, select one of the following options from the Hardware Acceleration menu: Level 1 - Direct Direct mode improves playback performance by allowing Flash Player to draw directly on the screen instead of letting the browser do the drawing. Level 2 - GPU In GPU mode, Flash Player utilizes the available computing power of the graphics card to perform video playback and compositing of layered graphics. This provides another level of performance benefit depending on the user's graphics hardware. Use this option when you expect that your audience will have high-end graphics cards. If the playback system does not have sufficient hardware to enable acceleration, Flash Player reverts to normal drawing mode automatically. For best performance on web pages containing multiple SWF files, enable hardware acceleration for only one of the SWF files. Hardware acceleration is not used in Test Movie mode. When you publish your SWF file, the HTML file that embeds it contains a wmode HTML parameter. Choosing Level 1 or Level 2 hardware acceleration sets the wmode HTML parameter to "direct" or "gpu" respectively. Turning on hardware acceleration overrides the Window Mode setting you may have chosen in the HTML tab of the Publish Settings dialog box, because it is also stored in the wmode parameter in the HTML file.

Does this mean that the newest version of Flash will support Hardware acceleration? The kind of hardware support that will produce less laggy animations and games? I've been waiting for flash to do this. I have a couple game ideas, but they're too big for flash, and well, I wasn't very inspired to learn other languages.

Flash - Transform Tool Architecture?

Jan 27, 2012

I'm trying to get familiar with design patterns, modularity, unit testing and etc... (with ActionScript). I'm developing a simple "Free transform tool" right now, just as a exercise, but I don't like the solutions that I come up with so far, so I'll try to walk you trough my line of thoughts. When I come up with the idea I was thinking "What to write so I can test this great Unit testing framework FlexUnit", the first thing that I saw was guess what.. a free transform tool. :) When I was thinking about the architecture of the tool I run every scenario trough "How can I write unit tests for that thing?", so I come up with some kind of twisted MVC meta pattern:

A view that's holding all components (rotation area, drag area, resize buttons)A model (or something like that) that holds the necessary logic (setSize, setPositiom, rotateAroundCenter, etc..).And a controller that add listeners to the view components, update the mouse cursor when its over a component, get the mouse coordinates when is interacted with a component, do the calculations and call methods from the model that will update the view and the object that is benign transformed.

I was thinking: "Ok its flexible, i can switch M, V or C at any time, I achieved my main goal, because I can make lots of unit test for the model, where the important calculations are, so its great..".I just have started implementing it, but I think most of those thoughts are wrong. Yes I can change the view and add new skin but it's not flexible at all, if I want to add "skew" (or any other) functionality I should rewrite (or If I'm lucky just extend) M, V and C.Yes I can make bunch unit test for the model but controller's calculations will be hard to test.

So now I'm thinking for something like the Decorator pattern that will allow me to create whatever combination of controls i want to use and keep their logic separated, but I want to have the option to re-skin the controls themselves and to keep the logic separated so I can do the tests.I realize I want to create some kind of "ultimate transform tool", but I'm really trying to push my limits and learn something.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Get RGB Of Each Pixel And Transform It?

Dec 1, 2010

I'm making a matrix effect thing using AS3. Everything is going good except for color transitions.

Basically i have two bitmap images, one is where the leading white letters are falling, another is where the letters are printed on to, and i use a color matrix filter to slowly fade the letters away and tint its color.

And this tinting of color is what im having problems with right now. My method works for colors like 0x00FF00, 0xFF0000, or any colors with only 0s and Fs. Other colors with hex values between F and 0 will inevitably turn into a color of 0s and Fs or jus turn black, due to ...

[Code]...

my idea right now is to scan through each pixel and add its RGB component individually checking if it has reached the designated value or not, but ive no idea how to go about doing this and i think it might cause lagg.

Help plz
