View 4 RepliesI can make a circle (filled) turn. I want it to go gradually smaller or bigger while turning.
View 2 Replieswould like to make 3 versions of the same site, and then have them redirected depending on the user's monitor resolution. Because of this, I need to make some of the movie clips smaller, and some bigger. What is the best way to do this. Some of the movie clips contain text.
View 1 Replieswhat I want to do is publish my flash file so that it scales down but not up!So if a browser window happens to be smaller than the pixel height, the movie is scaled down but if the browser window is bigger than the pixel size, the movie is not resized and just centered.
View 2 RepliesI found this really neat photo gallery on flashkit but there is no support or readme included. how to size this thing.. the AS code does have comments but I am not a coder.I'd like to make the image window smaller and the overall movie smaller. 325x325 or so
View 10 RepliesIm using CS4 trying to make a tween where I transform a rectangle to go from 2 pixels to about 500 pixels so I can create a transition effect, but its only letting me transform it to around 200 pixels.Am I not doing it the way Flash wants me? How should I transform a rectangle to be a lot wider or taller for a tween?
View 2 RepliesI made a touch screen application and I used a UIScrollBar for one of my TextField in there and I want to make it's buttons wider/bigger. The .width and .scaleX and also .setSize() properties are not working. I change size of all components inside the UIScrollBar (make wider), but it keeps its original width size with no changes.
View 1 Replies[URL].. To enable the SWF file to use hardware acceleration, select one of the following options from the Hardware Acceleration menu: Level 1 - Direct Direct mode improves playback performance by allowing Flash Player to draw directly on the screen instead of letting the browser do the drawing. Level 2 - GPU In GPU mode, Flash Player utilizes the available computing power of the graphics card to perform video playback and compositing of layered graphics. This provides another level of performance benefit depending on the user's graphics hardware. Use this option when you expect that your audience will have high-end graphics cards. If the playback system does not have sufficient hardware to enable acceleration, Flash Player reverts to normal drawing mode automatically. For best performance on web pages containing multiple SWF files, enable hardware acceleration for only one of the SWF files. Hardware acceleration is not used in Test Movie mode. When you publish your SWF file, the HTML file that embeds it contains a wmode HTML parameter. Choosing Level 1 or Level 2 hardware acceleration sets the wmode HTML parameter to "direct" or "gpu" respectively. Turning on hardware acceleration overrides the Window Mode setting you may have chosen in the HTML tab of the Publish Settings dialog box, because it is also stored in the wmode parameter in the HTML file.
Does this mean that the newest version of Flash will support Hardware acceleration? The kind of hardware support that will produce less laggy animations and games? I've been waiting for flash to do this. I have a couple game ideas, but they're too big for flash, and well, I wasn't very inspired to learn other languages.
When I previewed my flash site before uploading it, the site appeared much larger. Are there any settings I can asjust so the site appears the same size when people visit online as when I previewd it in flash?
View 4 RepliesI'm working on a full browser flash site and it works great, its got a 1000x650 movie in the middle centred in the html and the background colour of the movie fills the rest of the stage, no margins, no mess!
Thing is, I need a black overlay to fade in (to put other content over the top) Thing is, the black box only resizes to the size of the stage not the full browser window! Heres the code at the moment:
// Stops the stage from scaling with the browser window.

I 'm using the kirupa gallery to display my images. Works sweet, centering the images, next and prev button, nice transition. No thumbnails or stuff. Pretty simple and basic. I want to show even a bigger images onclick in flash, so, not a popup, but the images loading in a movieclip With shadow and close button. Cant get it to work! The hyperlink versions all open a new browser window. I just wat it to laod a movieclip or swf with the image suplied in the xml.

I'm creating a movie that is 500px wide but the background image is 1500px wide. How can I show the image at 100% without it being cut at 500px?
View 4 RepliesI've made this code:
Code:
var txt:TextField = new TextField();
var frmt:TextFormat = new TextFormat();
txt.autoSize = TextFieldAutoSize.LEFT;
frmt.font = "Arial";
frmt.size = 800;
frmt.color = 0xFF00FF;
txt.defaultTextFormat = frmt;
txt.text = "TRY WITH THIS";
I've seen around the web flash websites with text bigger than the max flash dimension of 72 pt. How can I make that? I've tried with the code above but it seems that flash set the text size to 72.
I have a lot of questions about how to optimally load my newly created flash site (very large file size). I have created an entire site in Flash (one swf). It will take quite some time to load on smaller bandwidths, so I am wondering: Is there a way to have the main movie clip load, with the others loading in the background, instead of the user having to wait for the entire site to load.
Also, if I add a preloader to the entire swf, how can I get the flash movie to start before it reaches 100%? If not, is there a way to add preloaders to individual movie clips within the site. If not, how can I quickly break my fla apart and make my movie clips into separate swfs. After this, how do I add preloaders to those? Any general tips to greatly reduce fla or swf file sizes?
URL...I can't seem to figure out why the swf file is so small. I published it at 100% width & height (I want it to be full screen) but it only shows up as 216 pixels tall.
View 2 RepliesI have a situation wherein I have to keep the size of my flash swf smaller than 215X130 pixel. However, I want to use Microphone, so the permission dialog needs an area at least 215X130.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to change the size of swf, (in the example the size is 750 X 750) to 500 x 500 but only when the browser is IE6, IE7, IE8, IE9?

View 2 RepliesMy company sent me a video that they wanted us to post on the intranet. It's a simple powerpoint video with a narrator talking about some policy and benefit changes, etc.
I tried the exporting the video in both 720(width) and 1280 format, and found that when shown in fullscreen mode, the 1280 format was much easier to read than the 720, however, we didn't want to show it on the intranet page at full 1280 by default. So I modified the html and javascript that plays the movie so that it would show in 720 width on the page. The problem with resizing the 1280 video into a 720 space is that the video player bar (where the play, stop, volume controls are) becomes extremely small when I do this. Of course, this is because Flash generated the player with a toolbar optimized for 1280, so it's getting scaled down when I pack it into a smaller playing area.
Is there an solution to this that I haven't thought of? How can I generate this movie to get the better full screen appearance of the 1280 video, but also still show the video in a smaller 720 area when the user is not in full screen mode?
I'm a total beginner at ActionScript, and I'm running into a big problem with a Flash banner I'm writing. The problem is that my Stage width and height appear to be much smaller than the width and height specified in my <object> and <embed> tags of the HTML. My goal is to get the Stage width and height to be equal to the <object> and <embed> width and height, so that I can make commercial banners with full-size backgrounds.
The width x height specified in the <object> and <embed> tags is 400 x 300. To force the Stage to be 400 x 300, I've added a 400 x 300 TextField as a child of my main Sprite object. As a diagnostic, I even printed the Stage's width and height as part of the TextField text content -- which confirmed that the Stage thinks it's at 400 x 300. I've tried different things to get it to work. I've tried playing around with the Stage's scaleMode property, using all the possible different values, but still the problem persists. Still, when viewed on the web page, the width and height of the Stage appears much smaller than the <object> and/or <embed> tags which contains the Flash content area. I know this because I'm using colored backgrounds as a diagnostic.

The window for Flash Builder's mobile device emulator (in AIR) seems to be a bit too tall for a resolution running 1280x800. Is there a way to make it run smaller? 1280x800 is the highest resolution set-able on the laptop being used to develop for it.
View 2 RepliesCan anyone offer a clue as to why flashdevelop would compile to a smaller swf than Flash Builder?The FD swf is 150k, FB swf is 220k.I'm exporting as a release build in FB.
View 1 RepliesI see a number of cool sites and examples using Senocular's TransformTool. Most of them look and function really well. I've downloaded and reviewed the code for a number of different examples.I can see how everyone else's works.I'm having difficulty with 2 points:
1. When I select a movieClip, the TransformTool appears in the correct spot and in the correct dimensions. But the movieClip itself is relocated much above the TransformTool and is MUCH smaller than its original size and the current (and correct) dimensions of the TransformTool. Selecting one of the handles and dragging stretches the movieClip but does not make it the same dimensions as the TransformTool
2. Releasing one of the handles seems to cause the handle to behave in the same way the movieClip did -- you can resize and move the handle.
I'm trying to make a movieclip scale proportionally only if the item is being resize smaller than the current.Obviously I can use the ScaleX/Y values like so:
if (cont.scaleX < cont.scaleY ) { cont.scaleY = cont.scaleX; } else { cont.scaleX = cont.scaleY; }
I need to restrict/reset the scale proportions only in special case that the stageWidth/Height are smaller than the movieclip.
I created a simple mouseover (like this one http:url... )with one small image that grows to a LARGER image directly on top of the smaller image when mouse is OVER the smaller image. When user mouses OVER the smaller image the larger image appears correctly.Problem is that even when user mouses OVER the "boundries" of where the LARGER image WILL appear, that also causes larger image to appear. What I want is for the larger image to appear ONLY when mouse is OVER the smaller image.
View 2 RepliesIs there a function or property or better way to do what the following code do?
var width:int = 20
while (textField.defaultTextFormat.size > 1 && textField.width > width) {
textField.defaultTextFormat.size--

i see there are various choices in the dropdown, but i still need it bigger. can this be done?
View 3 RepliesSee [URL] Now there is a button called Answera, which when clicked should have a symbol (movie clip) called Check appear at the cordinated specified. Check exists in the libary (but does not have an instance name) and no where else on the stage. when I run this code I get: 1180: Call to a possibly undefined method Check. -> var rightCheck = new Check(); How is it undefinded if it exists in the libary?
View 7 RepliesThe following is my codes. This is still work in progress; so, you will see some functions with empty contents. Plus, this is my first Flex application; please bear with me. This is a quiz application that gets the questions and answers to each questions from a ColdFusion web service. There are three types of questions, True or False, Multiple Choice with single selection, and Multiple Choice with multiple selections. So, based upon the question type, the application would dynamically generate the appropriate amount of radio buttons or check boxes for the users to select. I got these working. The problem that I am having is, I am not sure how to check what the users have actually selected. In some other forums and posts on other web site, it said that I can use event.currentTarget.selectedValue to get the user selection. But when I actually do it, I got a run-time error saying, "Property selectedValue not found on mx.controls.FormItem and there is no default value." My question is, what do I need to do to capture the user selections?

I'm animating a brick path forming brick by brick.I used a single brick symbol and repeated it over and over until it formed a path.The file was a lot larger than I expected it to be since I used really only one brick. Does the fact that I have a slew of layers explain why my file is on the heavier side?Would the file be smaller if I used a single image of a complete brick path and animated a mask to reveal one brick at a time?
