I made a touch screen application and I used a UIScrollBar for one of my TextField in there and I want to make it's buttons wider/bigger. The .width and .scaleX and also .setSize() properties are not working. I change size of all components inside the UIScrollBar (make wider), but it keeps its original width size with no changes.

View 2 RepliesWhen I render an .flv by adding the video to the Render Queue in After Effect instead of exporting to .flv the video controller ends up wider than the video itself when imported to Flash.
My video is 495 wide by 360 high. When I render in AE in the Render Queue, and then import to a Flash doc, the video controller is about 15 pixels wider on both the left and right of the video. This looks goofy. Is their a way to resolve this? Is this a Flash challenge or an After Effects challenge?
Flash stage width is limited to 2880px. Is there a way to do sliding panels http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/slidingmenu.htm with 5 large panels eg. 5 x 1000 = 5000px?
View 3 RepliesI am using spark DropDownLists and I don't want to see any horizontal scrollbars in the dropdown. I'm OK with the dropdown being wider than the anchor, so I have a custom skin that sets popUpWidthMatchesAnchorWidth to false. But I don't want the dropdown to ever be smaller than the anchor. I came up with a solution that sometimes works, but there is something wrong with it. My DropDownList skin is as follows:

This works as expected when the contents of the dropdown are either wider than the anchor or smaller than about 100px, but if I explicitly set the width in the instance of the DropDownList to be something like 200px and the contents of the dropdown are around 150px wide, the dropdown is smaller than the anchor. Basically, it looks like openButton.getExplicitOrMeasuredWidth() returns about 100, regardless of what I set the DropDownList's width to be. How can I change this so that I can have multiple DropDownLists with different widths, but always making sure that the dropdown's width is either greater than or equal to the anchor's width?
Is it possible to change the look on the UIScrollBar in flash cs4 using AS2 ?? ive tried almost everything now without success,.

Ok so i have this dyanamic textbox called logtxt and i have a UIScrollbar attached to it. It works, but only if i add it through typing/pasting it into the textbox. I need it to work when i add the text through the code. (it is linked correctly through the components inspector)

I know how to attach the scrollbar to a dynamic text field (drag and drop) and have tried similar processes with the mc but no luck. I feel like it's not as simple as "drag and drop" and that the mc itself needs to have it's x and y's defined and then have script associated (note I'm using as3).

View 4 RepliesI would add a scrollbar to a TLFTextField, I know that should be possible because in the official documentation scrollTarget is DisplayObject.When I try to do that, Flash CS5 gets compiler error telling me that scrollTarget only accepts standard TextField.

To enable the SWF file to use hardware acceleration, select one of the following options from the Hardware Acceleration menu: Level 1 - Direct Direct mode improves playback performance by allowing Flash Player to draw directly on the screen instead of letting the browser do the drawing. Level 2 - GPU In GPU mode, Flash Player utilizes the available computing power of the graphics card to perform video playback and compositing of layered graphics. This provides another level of performance benefit depending on the user's graphics hardware. Use this option when you expect that your audience will have high-end graphics cards. If the playback system does not have sufficient hardware to enable acceleration, Flash Player reverts to normal drawing mode automatically. For best performance on web pages containing multiple SWF files, enable hardware acceleration for only one of the SWF files. Hardware acceleration is not used in Test Movie mode. When you publish your SWF file, the HTML file that embeds it contains a wmode HTML parameter. Choosing Level 1 or Level 2 hardware acceleration sets the wmode HTML parameter to "direct" or "gpu" respectively. Turning on hardware acceleration overrides the Window Mode setting you may have chosen in the HTML tab of the Publish Settings dialog box, because it is also stored in the wmode parameter in the HTML file.
Does this mean that the newest version of Flash will support Hardware acceleration? The kind of hardware support that will produce less laggy animations and games? I've been waiting for flash to do this. I have a couple game ideas, but they're too big for flash, and well, I wasn't very inspired to learn other languages.
I'm using Flash CS4. Everything functions as it should when CS4 previews the swf after compiling it. However, after embedding the flash item in a webpage, if the textArea loses focus within the flash piece, the textarea's built-in UIscrollbar resets to the very top. Here's the kicker: if I add a FOCUS_OUT event listener to the textArea to store the current scrollbar value, I find that the scrollbar value has been reset to minimum even before the FOCUS_OUT event is triggered! WTF? I think this is occurring because the textArea's htmlText propery is dynamically populated. Adobe AIR has advanced methods for handing HTML, but not simple AS3, oh no. How obnoxious. What can be done?
View 1 RepliesI'm working on a full browser flash site and it works great, its got a 1000x650 movie in the middle centred in the html and the background colour of the movie fills the rest of the stage, no margins, no mess!
Thing is, I need a black overlay to fade in (to put other content over the top) Thing is, the black box only resizes to the size of the stage not the full browser window! Heres the code at the moment:

I 'm using the kirupa gallery to display my images. Works sweet, centering the images, next and prev button, nice transition. No thumbnails or stuff. Pretty simple and basic. I want to show even a bigger images onclick in flash, so, not a popup, but the images loading in a movieclip With shadow and close button. Cant get it to work! The hyperlink versions all open a new browser window. I just wat it to laod a movieclip or swf with the image suplied in the xml.

View 7 RepliesIt seems the simplest way is to use the UIScrollBar, but it will not work in my Flash file.I create the dynamic text box and drop the UIScrollBar on it from the components panel, the scroll bar attaches but only shows up as a white rectangle with no arrows. When I test it it stays the same. I don't think it's just the color because when I hover over or click where arrows should be nothing happens, the text will not scroll. I can click and highlight the text to make it scroll, so I know the additional text that isn't showing up is there, I just can't scroll down to see it.The weird thing is in another flash website I have the UIScrollBar does work. I can drag the problem one from the first file into the second and suddenly the arrows appear. I even tried creating a new text box with the UIScrollBar in the working file then dragging it over to the problem one, but the arrows disappear and the bar turns into a white rectangle again.

(with flash player 9) it is not visible. If I view it in the standalone flash player it is fine.
The component itself works perfectly. I can create a scrollbox and the scrollbar and everything works perfectly..except that it somehow partially disables my other codes. I'm trying to create a small database in flash where I can store stuff and to quickly find what I'm looking for I made a Input Text field and added a code so that you could search for a keyframe label and then it would jump to that keyframe.The scrollbox disables the search function, although only partially! The button with the search code looks like this:[code]which means the scrollbar component somehow disables the Enter button! Weird. I know I should be content with at least the clicking working, but I'd really love to have a search where you can just simply press Enter for it to go to that keyframe.
Well, the problem didn't end there.When I try to delete the scrollbar and everything that made the search stop working, the enter button still won't work, even when I deleted all the faulty keyframes where I added the scrollbars! So I have to begin again from scratch to make it work.A scrollbox would really help me get more text into a keyframe, so I'd love to have it there. If someone can help me get this work, I'd be happy.I tried creating my own scrollbar. It works great, too, and it doesn't disable the search code. The problem is, that I made the scrollbox into a movie clip, and I need many scrollboxes with different texts, and I'd really hate to create a new scrollbox from scratch each time I need one with different text. Plus, I'll probably need 100+ scrollboxes so it'd take a while to make that many.Anyone know how you can duplicate a movie clip and then edit the duplicate without the original being edited?
