ActionScript 3.0 :: Playback Controller Wider Than .flv Movie?

When I render an .flv by adding the video to the Render Queue in After Effect instead of exporting to .flv the video controller ends up wider than the video itself when imported to Flash.
My video is 495 wide by 360 high. When I render in AE in the Render Queue, and then import to a Flash doc, the video controller is about 15 pixels wider on both the left and right of the video. This looks goofy. Is their a way to resolve this? Is this a Flash challenge or an After Effects challenge?

I am trying to use a sound controller in a flash movie to play music and I am using loadMovieNum to load the sound controller movie at a particular point in the main timeline. I get the sound player to load up fine and the sound loads fine when a user presses play, but about a minute through the song the sound starts to play again, overlapping the song that is already playing.
This happens with no user interaction...it just takes about a minute. I also noticed that it is only when the sound player is within one of the movies. It doesnt happen when the sound player is all by itself. Is there something in my movie that is making it loop over?

I made a touch screen application and I used a UIScrollBar for one of my TextField in there and I want to make it's buttons wider/bigger. The .width and .scaleX and also .setSize() properties are not working. I change size of all components inside the UIScrollBar (make wider), but it keeps its original width size with no changes.

Flash stage width is limited to 2880px. Is there a way to do sliding panels http://www.kirupa.com/developer/flash5/slidingmenu.htm with 5 large panels eg. 5 x 1000 = 5000px?

I am using spark DropDownLists and I don't want to see any horizontal scrollbars in the dropdown. I'm OK with the dropdown being wider than the anchor, so I have a custom skin that sets popUpWidthMatchesAnchorWidth to false. But I don't want the dropdown to ever be smaller than the anchor. I came up with a solution that sometimes works, but there is something wrong with it. My DropDownList skin is as follows:

This works as expected when the contents of the dropdown are either wider than the anchor or smaller than about 100px, but if I explicitly set the width in the instance of the DropDownList to be something like 200px and the contents of the dropdown are around 150px wide, the dropdown is smaller than the anchor. Basically, it looks like openButton.getExplicitOrMeasuredWidth() returns about 100, regardless of what I set the DropDownList's width to be. How can I change this so that I can have multiple DropDownLists with different widths, but always making sure that the dropdown's width is either greater than or equal to the anchor's width?

What I have is a simple piece of scrolling text that move "up" when the up button is pressed and "down" when the down button is pressed.This all worked perfectly in another file. I had other problems with that i believe due to scenes - so I've moved everything into one scene - but now my "down" button doens't work and I can't see why.My buttons have the same code (up works) and the down over state works, the controller has the same code but I do believe its do do with the "controller".

I've created a "flashloop" for a client, but it won't loop. I've done it in AS3, and all the code is on the first frame of the maintimeline, which does not have a stop() on it. I've published it to loop, and made sure the HTML has the loop = true value, but it doesn't loop. The SWF doesn't even loop when played in the Flash Player.

Developing a flash resource which runs FLV files from within it as pro
gressive. It works ok on my local testing computer/network server. But when I put it online it does not play.I opened up the components panel for each FLV and noticed they were absolutely linked to my network drive (obviously when online this linking will now work). So i changed all the linking to be relative and some warning windows did come up and say i was breaking the link but i ignored them because i don't care about how it runs locally...i want this resource to work online!line.something that it might also be is I am uploading this resource to an LMS called Janisons (perhaps they are not FLV through flash playback - friendly).
Is there any particular path of troubleshooting I could go along? Because I have just about tried everything i know!UPDATE: I changed back one of the FLVs parameters to link to local drive in the component parameters - and as expected, it runs fine locally but when previewd in chrome (which might i add has some great debugging features that you could only dream of finding in IE) i get the following message:

I have recently got this error with .swf and FLV playback videos. The problem is when the .swf file is run it does not play the FLV playback video though everything else in the swf works fine.
When I test the system with CTRL + ENTER, everything works fine including the FLV playback video. However, after this process when I run the SWF Movie file (auto generated) on its own it does not play the same video that plays when I test it in Adobe Flash CS4.
The .flv videos and the skin for the flv playback video are all together in the same folder as the SWF Movie file. I doubt that the skin has anything to do with this.
I found some flash CS3 documentation that says : When you create a SWF file with embedded video, the frame rate of the video clip and the SWF file must be the same. Therefore, I set the FPS in the .FLA file to 25 fps (same as the video fps).
When I debug the movie (CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER) I get this error:

Im having trouble getting my flash movie to playback at a consistent/good rate in Internet Explorer. Its not terrible out of IE but it looks much better out of Firefox and Safari. Im publishing my swf at Auto Low out of Flash and setting the swf to Auto Low on my html page out of Dreamweaver, my .flv is about 8 Megs, runs 1:25 with a kbps of 700 and the audio is set to 128. Is there something glaringly wrong with my settings, something I can trim in order to get it to playback correctly in IE? Someone suggested upping my buffer time but I can't seem to locate the panel in Flash CS4, anyone know where this tab lives?

I have an splash page with a movie that plays, after the movie is finished I want it to redirect you to the home page. The movie is sitting on 1 frame in the timeline. Is there a way to have it redirect after the movie is finished playing?

does not work. It is a dynamic site so there is no <head> tag I can put an HTML redirect in. I need to be able to do it through flash.

I am using an embedded flash movie in my web page. I would like to show some alerts on the page when the movie has played for x seconds, pause the movie while the user views and dismisses the alert and start playing the movie again after that (or the user can press the play button, not important). The important parts being - the app being able to find out if x secs worth of movie has played, pausing the movie then and showing an alert. Is this possible using a php/javascript code within the web page? Or will I have to do this within the flash movie itself?

i'm trying to use org.simplemvc for my first mvc project. i'm getting it piece by piece, but I can't figure out how to get the controller from a class of mine that extends view.I thought it would be as simple as just calling a method from it's super, view, the controller getter. but it tells me the property doesn't exist, so I'm thinking it has something to do with the interface.[code]

I'm using CS4 and encountered an issue that I can't resolve when using the controller. When an audio file (MP3) is on the timeline, I hit play on the controller to listen to audio but when I hit stop, the play head stops while the audio continues to play. I also noticed that when scrubbing the timeline you can't hear the audio.
Has anyone encountered this? This issue doesn't happen in CS3 and since a lot of my work deals with syncing graphics to narration I have to go back to CS3, which I don't want to do.

The first is that when loading an external swf in my main SWF I get this in the output window:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.

But it still works. Its an mp3 player. The other problem is that the loaded SWF has a volume controller. When I test the external SWF by itself it works fine. When I load it on my main SWF when I start to drag the handle on my volume slider and MOUSE_UP outside the handle it still keep dragging the handle.

I am working on a flex application which makes calls to an .NET webservice. I am trying to follow the MVC design pattern. I have created a model, which stores all information received from the webservice. The webservice itself is created by actionscript in the controller. The view in my case, consists of various user-defined components (multiple .mxml files).
The Model is a singleton class, and each of the views accesses a getInstance of the model. The question is how do i access the webservice (i.e. controller) from each of these components? Does the controller also need to be a singleton class just like the model? and let each component get an instance of the controller in order to access the webservice?

Can flash video controller control external swf files? It seems it can only control flvs?nyways, I am working on a flash animation with voice over and I need to have a video ontroller so it can rewind, fast forward, pause the swf and turn off the sound....etc....oes anyone know any video controller in AS3 that can control swfs out there that I can download or purchase?I know I could convert the swf to quicktime then flv, but the quality would be degraded because of the conversion from vector graphics to bitmap. I certainly wouldn't want to have that.

I have an external sound controller that plays 10 tracks. The current way I load the sound controller is with LoadMovie and I do it on the last frame of the movie that is my actual website. However, this slows my whole site down significantly, because when I press stop on the sound controller...everything is at the speed I want it to go. What is the best way to go about preventing this slow down?
