I'm animating a brick path forming brick by brick.I used a single brick symbol and repeated it over and over until it formed a path.The file was a lot larger than I expected it to be since I used really only one brick. Does the fact that I have a slew of layers explain why my file is on the heavier side?Would the file be smaller if I used a single image of a complete brick path and animated a mask to reveal one brick at a time?
When I GZIP an swf file, the size goes from 1,21 mb to 1,86 mb...I guess, as a colleague of mine said, that the swf is already binary and can't be compressed anymore.Conclusions is also that zipping swf files shouldn't be done.
I'm a long-time visitor to Kirupa, but first-time poster I've been creating a website and have run into this unusual little error... My fla file is about 3mb, but for some reason the swf file is a whopping 18.2mb!
Am unsure how this could have happened. I've tried optimizing the pictures in the file, and deleting unnecessary tweens (etc) - but no changes. I'veeven tried re-saving the file as something else, as well as the 'save and compact' command.
I have created a layer in Adobe Golive CS2 and inserted a SWF file to play on the webpage. There is also text boxes that are either display always or transition in on a time event. When I preview in the web browser the swf file shows but nothing else does. I have tried to arrange the layers by assigning a number to the "Z" index for the layers that contain the text but it does not work. How do I arrange the layer that contains the SWF file so it is in the back and the other layers are visible??
I have a project in which the different layers of an svg file need to be colored. I tried doing a color transform but it just puts an overlay of color on top of the svg image. Is there anything which can be doe to programmatically color the various layers of an svg file with different colors in AS3?
I'm just starting with Flash CS4. I have done a whole heap of vector images and before I did anything I turned it into a movie clip but for some reason they are no longer movie clipped. How can I get my vector layers from the "Scene 1" and move them into their own movie clip?
Also I have done them all in individual files (never again), but how do I get all the individual .fla vector images and layers into the same file?
I'm creating some sort of flash video site. It consists of a several HD video's. The background video is 1920x1080. In front of it there is an object witch is also a video, but it it is stopped at first frame. When mouse is over this object - I play the video.
And here's the thing - when I firstly move cursor to the object - it plays like 5-6 fps. From the moment when video plays single time - it starts to go smoothly.
I use FLV files as videos and a sequence of PNG as an object on the video. FLV and PNG is 1920x1080. Flv and PNG's are loaded in the SWF file directly from library.
Here's the questions : Is there some sort of file buffering when the files are firstly displayed? Will it be better to load video from External files?
I have four games that are very similar with certain names, colours and fonts changing in each. To design these, I built the first and changed the rest - updating what was needed. I then had to go back and add a few scenes to each - which were all the same save for a few word, colour and font changes. I updated game 1, but can't find an easy way to transfer the new scenes to my other .fla files.
I understand that you can select all frames and then copy these for pasting in a separate .fla file. However, this merges all contents to one layer and does not copy the actions for that scene. I also understand that you can embed a .swf of these new scenes within the other games - but this would not allow for changes.
I was hoping that someone could tell me how to copy a scene from one .fla to another - keeping all layers and actions intact.
the snow effect always acts like the top layer, ok what i mean is, i have 3 layers, (1)toplayer= a car, (2)middle= snow, (3)low= background.I want to make the snow to be seen behind the car...i hope you understand what i mean , whenever i put the code from the link above it acts as the top layer and appears in front of everything.
I am doing a project for class and I am trying to see how i can make a certain action script in flash.I wanted to see if I can stack a few hundred (very small) images on top of one another with very low opacities.These stacked images will randomly change their order in the layers and create a unique composition everytime.Is there a way to do this in flash? if so, how would I go about it?
I'm having an odd problem that I can't seem to resolve. I'm updating some old animations (created around 2004-2005). Most have gone without a hitch, however one file has been a problem.
First the specs: Windows 7 64bit, Master Collection CS5.5. All updated.
The problem with the file:
I can open it just fine, test the movie, etc. If I try to save the document, it fails, saying "Unable to save the document as...". I can save the file as a CS4 document, which seems to work OK. However, I need to move the contents into a new document. If I try to Copy the laters, Flash immediately crashes.
Is it possible to add layers, re-order layers, move movieclips from layer to layer or specify which layer a duplicate movieclip appears on at runtime with AS3?I am aware of the depth properties and the functions associated with that but it would be easier to have a concept of a layer because I am dealing with masks.I have a nasty feeling I'm gonna be told that layers don't really exist within an swf and that depths and setmask are all there is to work with.
I have to do an animation project for college. I would like to create an animation to use within a bigger project, that looks similar to the First Boot Animation from the new Windows 7.
Im using CS4 trying to make a tween where I transform a rectangle to go from 2 pixels to about 500 pixels so I can create a transition effect, but its only letting me transform it to around 200 pixels.Am I not doing it the way Flash wants me? How should I transform a rectangle to be a lot wider or taller for a tween?
I have radioButton controls that are being added to an otherwise empty movieClip. The height of the radioButtons are about 22, and the associated textFields (which I am using so I have finer control) are about 25 high. Once the two buttons are added the movieClip reports its height as 130, which is kind of crazy. I know that textFields have default heights, but tracing the height out of the textFields associated with the rb controls only returns 25, as I said above. Here's some code.
var box:MovieClip=new MovieClip(); var startX:int=0; var startY:int=0;
I have a Mac and a PC - I have apple specific stuff on the Mac, everything else on the PC. My Adobe software is all on the PC. I like using the PC - bigger screen than the Macbook. Problem is that Adobe is effectively forcing me to use the MacBook.
Now I can use Flash to build cross-platform stuff from my PC, but I have to create all the certificates and profiles on the PC. If I want to do IOS development on the Mac I have to generate new certificates and profiles.
So switching between using flash/Flash Builder on a PC and native development on a MAc means continually regenerating certificates. If I had a desktop and PC latop, I could install on both, but not a PC and a MacBook. I am totally fed up with Adobe for this stupidity. If anyone knows differrent about the need to regenerate everything according to platform,
For some strange reason firefox 3 enlarges my swf file.Works fine in all other browsers.My swf width is 750 and in firefox makes it to about 830.Same problem with the height.
When I rollover my thumbnails I want it to load the corresponding version of a bigger picture, which is stored in the name property of each thumbnail. This works but the problem is i also want to, when clicked, goto a URL adress. But now the name property already have the path to the big version so I cant put the URL-path there. So how do I make each thumbnail find the "big version" and the url-path?
Code: //thumbnail picture thumb_Loader.load(new URLRequest(xmlList[i].attribute("thumb"))); //thumbnail BIG picture thumb_Loader.name=xmlList[i].attribute("source");
I am working on this image scroller, where thumbnails of images are displayed.[code]...
So is there anyway I could use any of the above code to load the big image associated with the small image? If event.target points to the current thumbnail being picked up, could i do something like event.target.url to point to its name or something?
