View 2 RepliesIn Actionscript and Adobe Flex, I'm using a pattern and regexp (with the global flag) with the string.match method and it works how I'd like except when the match returns multiple occurrences of the same word in the text. In that case, all the matches for that word point only to the index for the first occurrence of that word. For example, if the text is "cat dog cat cat cow" and the pattern is a search for cat*, the match method returns an array of three occurrences of "cat", however, they all point to only the index of the first occurrence of cat when i use indexOf on a loop through the array. I'm assuming this is just how the string.match method is. I want to find the specific indices of every occurrence of a match, even if it is of a word that was already previously matched.

I've got a site that is using loadSound to play some mp3s and it works fine. however, the sound starts to stream, and then replays itself like a second later. my guess is that its playing faster than the load is going and when it gets to the point where it hasn't loaded enough, it starts to replay it, but i'm not sure that that is the exact problem. my code:

now, i tried making a playTrack function that i can call with setTimeout and i put that in the onLoad in place of track.start(), but that didn't work either (i was hoping to not start playing the track for 3 seconds to give it some time to buffer).

Im looking to be able to find a number (any number) within a text string, what i ultimately want to do is crop the number out of the string to just be left with a number value, the only problem is the string could be any length and the number doesnt necessarily start at any point from the last characterI have items on the stage named 'image0', 'textfield2', 'button500' etc, as you can see the prefix before the number isnt a fixed length so I couldnt use substr and set an index, and since the number could be any number i couldnt set the index as a certain value before the end of the string. (ie it might return '500' or 'ld2' or 'ge0' in the examples given before)

I am looking for a way to "detect" a blank in the text which represents the point in the sentence where a word needs to be filled in. I know about the string replace(), but from what I can understand, that only works with strings. I'm looking for something similar to the str_replace function in PHP where you can search both arrays and strings, and change words in them. Does something like that exist in actionscript 3, or do I have to build some kind of loop myself, to loop through the entire array, and use the string repace() on every single string in the array?
