Action Script :: Flex Accessing <mx:Image> From Class?
Apr 14, 2011I want to draw something on an <mx:Image> I have in my .mxml file, but I want to keep my drawing implementation in a separate AS class.

View 1 RepliesI would like to provide my own sortItemRenderer within an AdvancedDataGrid like so:
<mx:AdvancedDataGrid sortItemRenderer="MyRenderer"></mx:AdvancedDataGrid>
MyRenderer is a class that I wrote, but Flex doesn't see it and gives "defintion not found" error, because it is not within the mx namespace. What is a clean way to make this to work?
Using Flex 4, I have created an SWF that has the following code:
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
import mx.events.FlexEvent;
import com.Index ;
protected function start(event:FlexEvent):void
[Code]...
I have downloaded an AS 3 class file, designed to create an MD5 hash from a string. I have put the class file in my /components directory (with / being the root of my Flex project source).[code]...
View 2 Repliesenter code hereI am loading an external swf into an component. It loads everything fine and I can see buttons working in the swf, I can add a movieclip to the but I can't then access that movieclip (or don't know how), and it keeps telling me numChildren = null when I try to trace it out. This is set up as a custom component like this:
<cynergy:imageZoom
id="zoomComponent"
borderStyle="solid"
source="{_data.map.@url}"
[code]....
how I would access the children in the loaded movieclip?I have tried
mycomponent.image.getChildAt(2) and it returns and error that the index is out of bounds.
I'm working on an image gallery application. Very frequently I'm getting Sandbox violation Error like Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2035: URL Not Found.. Some times its raising by cleaning the project. Every time I'm using my application's backup and updating and then the error is raising. Though I'm accessing local image files, getting error. I'm using try-catch to catch the location but no use.
View 2 RepliesI am trying to use BitmapImage spark class instead of mx image class.Image loads the same, fine
<s:BitmapImage id="img" source="sample.jpg">
</s:BitmapImage>
But I have an issue with adding mouse events on it, eg:
img.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,clicked);
do not trigger any mouse events when clicking on the image
Background: I have a project where i need to create multiple objects that consume the same base calss from an external .as file. each of the individual fla files that consume the base class need to pass a variable to the base class so the class can return information specific to the fla.
My question is,if i have an external class path set up, how do i get a variable on the first frame of the movie to be visible to the base class && how do i call upon its value from within the class.
I realize this is kind of an odd issue, but I am wondering if there's any way to get Flash to allow me to access a class's static functions using a class variable that points to the class. Example:I create a class called FooClass that has a static function named fooI then create a variable of type Class that points to it
Code:
var class:Class = Class(getDefinitionByName("FooClass"));
However, when I try to call foo() using the variable, it errors saying the function

I have created a class, call it Class1, that has various objects drawn on the stage (drawn in the IDE). It also has a function, called setColour, for changing the colour of those objects. The function works fine if I call it from within Class1.
Now I have another class, call it testClass1, that imports Class1 and calls the setColour function. First of all, none of the stage objects from Class1 are visible. Secondly, when setColour tries to modify the colour of an object, I get the error:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
This is the code for testClass1:
ActionScript Code:
package
{
import flash.display.*;
[Code].....
So, what is the problem? Is it possible to change objects that are drawn on the stage of an imported class?
I've only been programming in as3 for a couple months, and so far I've written several compositional classes that take MovieClips as inputs to handle behaviors and interactions in a simple game I'm creating. One problem I keep coming upon is that I'd love to access the custom variables I define within one class from another class. In the game I'm creating, Main.as is my document class, from which I invoke a class called 'Level1.as' which invokes all the other classes I've written.Below I've pasted my class 'DieLikeThePhishes'. For example, I would love to know the syntax for accessing the boolean variable 'phish1BeenHit' (line 31) from another class. I've tried the dot syntax you would use to access a MovieClip inside another MovieClip and it doesn't seem to be working for me.[code]

I have a class, call it MyClass, and there are several variables that I need to be able to access each instance of from within the class.So for instance, I need the object myObject1, a member of MyClass, to store the variable myNumber.From the main timeline, if I trace myObject1.myNumber, I get whatever number I've stored.
However, I need to check the numbers against another parameter, so I need to be able to test if myObject.myNumber == myOtherNumber. But from within the class, if I trace this.myNumber or myNumber I get null.What is the proper syntax for accessing a variable within a class?
I can't find a way to directly access a MC (or textfield, etc) on the timeline from a Class loaded into my Document Class. No problem from the Doc Class, but can't do it directly from the loaded Class. Is there a trick to essentiall extend the Doc Class AS from another external class?
View 7 RepliesI'm being really dumb today and I know this should be simple.....How do i access the stage from a class which isn't the Document Class? For instance, I want to create a tween which takes in the parameters of the stage's width? So I've written.....
ActionScript Code:
var myTweenX:Tween = new Tween(this, "x", Regular.easeOut, this.x, stage.stageWidth, 60, true);

I have an array in my doc class that I'd like to access from an external class. Can you do this and if so what's the syntax?
View 6 RepliesI have a document class that looks like this:
Code:
package

import Map;

Is it possible to access a property of the Map class (though map defined in the Document class) from within the hero class?
The Main.as file will have all of the game logic, such as the mysteryNumber.
The other actionScript files represent rooms that the user may click and depending on the 'mysteryNumber', it will execute the 1 of 6 scenarios.
So for example, if a user clicks the Library page, the LibPage.as will call the 'mysteryNumber' and execute some code to display on the library page.
It will be the same for the other 4 rooms.
The problem I have is that the LibPage.as won't call the 'theNumber' property from Main.as
Here's the Main.as
Code:
package
{
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;
[Code]....
I'm trying to do this,
Code:
Main.instance.subClassFunction();
instance is a public static variable on the default class, Main. I can do Main.instance.defaultClassFunction() with no problems at all, I use it to access functions and variables from within other classes. Is it possible to use this method to call a function on the subclass, currently I have to do this,

I'm pretty new to fully using class's for my programming (in-frame scripting satisfied me for a while). I am having a problem accessing the properties of a class from another class. The first class (I'll call it controller) receives a reference to an object of another class (I'll call it display). Display have several specialized subclass (I'll call one SequencedDisplay). SequencedDisplay has a timer in it that I need to access:

My code was working fine in 4.5, with no errors. But when I compile the same code with 4.1, I get "Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Image." error. So, it turns out that 4.1 does not has Image class.

PHP Code:

would it be possible to access a variable name containing a class from the class itself?
Example:
Code:
var __NAME__ = new TestClass();
package com.Test

I have created a datagrid in ActionScript class and I want to add an Image to one of the columns..I tried to add an image this way..but it doesnot work.

public static const redIcon:Class;
var statusRedImg:Image = new Image();
statusRedImg.source = redIcon;

For some reason the squares of color that are supposed to load behind the image that acts as a mask load first, momentarily showing while the image loads, which looks bad. Hre is the code:

I have experimented with adding the square child elsewhere (such as in the code where it is created twice), but that proves even more disastrous.
I'm trying to create an asp.net mvc controller method that will return an image generated by a POSTed bytearray. The post is coming from Flash and has the request header: "Content-type", "application/octet-stream" (although this can be changed if needed).[URL]
var header:URLRequestHeader = new URLRequestHeader("Content-type", "application/octet-stream");
var jpgURLRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("jpg_encoder_download.php?name=sketch.jpg");

I'm building an Adobe Air app that needs to load external images from different webservers. I have my basic loader function set up, but I encountered one server that wouldn't let me load it's images. it gave me the following error[url]...
After that I got in contact with the server's manager and he told me he had been working on some basisc hotlink protection for his images. He also told me that I could subvert this by supplying[url]... as the referrer when building the request headers.
First of all I found no trace of hotlink protection with online testapplications for hotlink protection. Secondly I have no idea how to set up what he told me with a simple Loader class function.[code]...
I'm trying to create a countdown timer for my website. I have written a code in ActionScript 2.0 that is working but I have a background that I created in Illustrator onto which I want to embed the timer. So, I have the image and on top of that image is where I would like the numbers to countdown, if that makes any sense?
I've posted the image I am talking about. The bottom half (the box at the bottom) is where I want to put the numbers counting down using Flash.
Is there a specific format that I need to have the imported image in since I have tried jpg, gif, bitmap and none of these allow me to put an action onto it?
