I am having trouble wrapping my head around the spark skin class in relation to it's host component. Basically, from what I've seen with most every skin that comes in the Flex 4 framework they don't directly expose the properties that are dynamically being set in the host component. Instead, they define states that get exposed to the skin class to define when a component should look different. This is all fine and dandy when you have a very simple component with a standard set of states, but when you have twenty different properties (hypothetically) to set in your host component that should change how the skin looks it could get very complicated very fast.
The way that I've seen that they have used to get around this is by overriding the commitproperties and invalidate functions in the skin class, grabbing the values for the properties they want from there, and then setting them to a locally instantiated variable inside the skin class. This is fine, but I feel like that is just a patch workaround to it which makes things a lot more complicated than it needs to be.Is there any way to directly expose a bindable property from the host component class so when you define your skin class it is directly ready to be read from? Let's say you have custom button with a boolean property of 'selected'. In the skin class, you want to add in a get and set function for the property 'selected' so you can perform some action upon your skin whenever it's set. How do you tell the skin class that this is an available property for you to work with from the host component?
To start - its best to say im new to Flex / OOP in general. I have been trying to add a custom class based on StrokedElement in order to implement a simple grid (not like the existing Flex Grids - this would just be for display - not holding elements etc...)
My current class looks like this: package ui.helpers { import flash.display.Graphics; import spark.primitives.supportClasses.StrokedElement; public class SGrid extends StrokedElement { public function SGrid() { [Code] .....
My code was working fine in 4.5, with no errors. But when I compile the same code with 4.1, I get "Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: Image." error. So, it turns out that 4.1 does not has Image class.
I used some class belong to mx and spark libary, but when I try to import them compiler throws an error Library not found.Definition mx.controls:VideoDisplay could not be found.Definition mx.core:UIComponent could not be found.How can I import it to my project?
I have created a datagrid in ActionScript class and I want to add an Image to one of the columns..I tried to add an image this way..but it doesnot work.
[Embed(source="../../../../css/images/redCircleIcon.png")] public static const redIcon:Class; var statusRedImg:Image = new Image(); statusRedImg.source = redIcon;
i am using xmllistcollection for displaying data in list. whenever i run my application data is display in list control, but this warning has displayed in console. How can i remove this warning warning: unable to bind to property 'xmlnode' on class 'XML' (class is not an IEventDispatcher)
recently, I research for the collection framework, and find LinkedSet(AS3Commons collection framework,it is a good opensource framework) written in ActionScript, but it can't use as dataProvider in ComboBox or DataGrid, because only implements ICollectionView can use as dataProvider. So I want to try if a class implements ICollectionView can work or not. I know Flex has build-in class implements ICollectionView, but I only want to define a class not use build-in class. The class as simple as possible.(can work is enough)
I am refactoring a hugh action script solution in Flash builder (beta 2) using the flex 4 sdk.The project does NOT use the mx framework.What i want to have is:
A big 'MAIN' project several small 'MODULE' projects. each 'MODULE' class refrences the 'MAIN' project as an External reference (doesnt compile into swf) - this is done by setting link type = external in the 'MODULE' project properties -> library path.'MAIN' loads a 'MODULE' project on runtime using the 'loader' class.
the problem:I recieve an error from the MODULE project: VerifyError: Error #1014: Class [some class in MAIN] could not be found.
I have a Flex application that can load modules as necessary. When the first module is loaded, it creates a class MyBackground(), which paints the background red. When I choose to load a second module (and unload the first) I again load a class MyBackground (from the second module). However, when I step into the constructor for MyBackground, it goes straight into the constructor for the UIComponentDescriptor:
[Code]...
Is this something to do with using the same application domain for each module that I load? Does Flex load in the class types into the parent application and cache them, so when I request a class the second time it just does a lookup, without actually seeing if the class is the same?
Given that both of these calls to getQualifiedClassName return the same thing (mx:Label), how would one go about programatically differentiating between an instance of a class and a reference to the class...
var lab1:Label=new Label(); var lab2:Class=Label; var qcn1:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab1); var qcn2:String=getQualifiedClassName(lab2);
In other words, how could I know that lab1 is of type Label, while lab2 is type "Class". typeof() simply returns "object" for both... getQualifiedClassName returns "mx.controls::Label" for both...
I'm building an Adobe Air app that needs to load external images from different webservers. I have my basic loader function set up, but I encountered one server that wouldn't let me load it's images. it gave me the following error[url]...
After that I got in contact with the server's manager and he told me he had been working on some basisc hotlink protection for his images. He also told me that I could subvert this by supplying[url]... as the referrer when building the request headers.
First of all I found no trace of hotlink protection with online testapplications for hotlink protection. Secondly I have no idea how to set up what he told me with a simple Loader class function.[code]...
I need to scale and clip images into square sized tiles to put into a tile list. Here's how
For each image, I want to scale the shorter side (either width or height) to fit in the tile using the "letterbox" scaleMode (so that it maintains aspect ratio).Then I want to position the image in the center and clip away anything left over from either both sides or the top and bottom.
I have an image with width=600px and height=1200px. First I want to scale the image to width=300px and height=600px (notice that aspect ratio is maintained), then center the image vertically and clip the image to 300 x 300.
Is this possible? This is actually a pretty standard way of displaying square thumbnails in many photo-based web sites, but I can't find a way to make it work in flex.
I am trying to load a BitmapImage from an embedded source image and add this to a UIComponent. I am attaching the code that I have below. I have not been able to get this to work.
var bitmap:BitmapImage = new BitmapImage(); bitmap.source ="@Embed('sample.jpg')"; var graphic:Graphic = new Graphic(); graphic.addElement(bitmap); thumbHolder.addChild(graphic);
When I run this I dont get an error, but no image appears in thumbHolder (My UIComponent).
I want to create a complete (and real) 2-dimensional array. In order to use a maximum of Adobe code, I want to use ListCollectionView which can manage sort and filters. But to use a second dimension, I need to override getProperty method, like following code.
I'm having some problems importing a class, the message that Flash gives me is this; The class being compiled, 'ImageLoader', does not match the class that was imported, '[URL]'. The only line of code in my flash movie is this: import com.martijndevisser.*; And yes, the class is in that folder The class is from here: [URL] I've used the class before and it works fine, I just dont know what to do?
I've trawled the net trying to find a solution, but everything seems to be mxml-centric. What I want is to dynamically create a series of Graphics objects each with a child BitmapImage.[code]...
I have a base class which is being created via remote_object [RemoteClass alias] from the server.I have other specialized classes that are derived from this baseclass, but serialization with the server always happens with the base class.The base class has meta data that defines what the derived class is, for example
[RemoteClass (alias="com.myco...')] public Class Base {
<s:TextArea id="editor"> <s:textFlow> <s:TextFlow id="_tf" > <s:p>Lorem ipsum etc.</s:p>
[code]...
But still no joy in inserting into the middle. Also, the above code wouldn't replace highlighted text, but that's not the real concern here.Based on Eugene's link the key to this is EditManager.The following code represents the working updated function:
protected function imageBtn_clickHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void { var em:EditManager = editor.textFlow.interactionManager as EditManager; em.selectRange(editor.selectionAnchorPosition, editor.selectionActivePosition);
how can I load in flex spark Image control and wait for complete loading? MX:image have method load() and listen COMPLETE event this is not in spark Image...is there only source?? or how can i listen when image is complete loading??
[code]This script is for a loader image gallery in flash, as part of a class assignment. What happens is that in flash, when I open the swf file, the initial image (images/nair_evanescentautumn.png) will load fine. However, clicking on any thumbnail image (including the exact same images/nair_evanescentautumn.png), will result in an error saying the file cannot be found.I cannot figure out why it is doing this... I've tested it over. Clicking each thumbnail does go to the correct position in the two separate functions. All said full-size image links are in the folder images/, and replacing the initial loader image will load the other images in place of the default one. However, clicking on any thumbnail still results in URL not found, even though everything works correctly.[code]Before anyone asks why I'm putting this kind of content into a flash site, I'm not--this is only for a class assignment. I'm just trying to figure out why my images aren't loading right when I'm only doing the exact same thing in the functions as I am on the other pages.Of note, commissions.swf has the exact same feature, just with swf files loaded instead, and it works perfectly fine. home, traditional, digital, and photography all have the image gallery, and all have the same issue (I only referenced one page because if I can fix one page I should be able to fix all of them).As for the artworks, they are all my fiance's. The website design was built for her, and I used the website design for this project because I didn't want to have to build an entirely new interface design. Since the project also required a gallery, I felt that this interface would work just fine.
i have a flash site im working on, with an image gallery. the way the site is designed, when you enter into a gallery, while it's loading the images (lets say 5-10 images), it draws 5-10 gray boxes in the exact spots the images will load into.
the trick is i need to know in advance how big the gray boxes should be (width/height) before the image is fully downloaded.
i found this site: [URL]
but the way he wrote this, as soon as the class determines the images dimensions, it cancels the download.
i'd rather have a fully complete image class that downloads images, dispatches events with the image dimensions as SOON as theyre detected, and fully downloads the images as well.
