Actionscript 3 :: Use Some Class In Mx ,spark Libary In Flash Professional CS5?

I used some class belong to mx and spark libary, but when I try to import them compiler throws an error Library not found.Definition mx.controls:VideoDisplay could not be found.Definition mx.core:UIComponent could not be found.How can I import it to my project?

I am trying to use BitmapImage spark class instead of mx image class.Image loads the same, fine

Real newbie to AS3 here (currently I am a C++ programmer looking into writing Adobe Air apps....my wife has some ideas for apps lol). My dumb question: Where do I find a reference libary for *.AS projects? I looked at the below website from adobe, but all the examples are in MXML syntax. Being new to AS3 I'm not quite following the whole MXML vs .AS. [URL]

I do have FlashDevelop setup, my playbook emulator, and I made the simple "hello world" app. So I'm ready to start laying out some basic controls....once I find a good reference.

I am having trouble wrapping my head around the spark skin class in relation to it's host component. Basically, from what I've seen with most every skin that comes in the Flex 4 framework they don't directly expose the properties that are dynamically being set in the host component. Instead, they define states that get exposed to the skin class to define when a component should look different. This is all fine and dandy when you have a very simple component with a standard set of states, but when you have twenty different properties (hypothetically) to set in your host component that should change how the skin looks it could get very complicated very fast.
The way that I've seen that they have used to get around this is by overriding the commitproperties and invalidate functions in the skin class, grabbing the values for the properties they want from there, and then setting them to a locally instantiated variable inside the skin class. This is fine, but I feel like that is just a patch workaround to it which makes things a lot more complicated than it needs to be.Is there any way to directly expose a bindable property from the host component class so when you define your skin class it is directly ready to be read from? Let's say you have custom button with a boolean property of 'selected'. In the skin class, you want to add in a get and set function for the property 'selected' so you can perform some action upon your skin whenever it's set. How do you tell the skin class that this is an available property for you to work with from the host component?

I have this Fla which contains a symbol that is linkaged to a certain class that is in my project. That class inherites a base class named CMovieClip which resides in one of the libraries that is in the class path (and inherites from MovieClip).Of some reason, every change that I do in the base class doesn't seem to influence the resulting linkaged class, much as if this library is cached somewhere that I can't feagure out.I tried to create the same conditions in a separate Fla but it does not repeat the issue.I tried to duplicate the symbol but the issue isn't solved that way.

To start - its best to say im new to Flex / OOP in general. I have been trying to add a custom class based on StrokedElement in order to implement a simple grid (not like the existing Flex Grids - this would just be for display - not holding elements etc...)

I'm trying to build a shuffle function that somebody gave me into my card game. I two external .as classes; one is Shuffle.as, which is my document class, and the other is card.as. I'm building the shuffling function into Shuffle.as. I think I'm getting close to making it work, but there are some problems. I am working on a drag and drop feature for the sparkScroller. This is sort of how my layout looks:

<mx:Box id="dummyRow" visible="false" />
<s:View id="touchView" visible="false" />
</mx:Canvas>
So when you hold your finger over a row in the items Scroller for more than a 30 seconds, the touchView becomes visible so does the dummyRow. The dummyRow gets populated to look like the row which you held your finger over.
So the touchView has the event handlers for moving your fingers and places the dummyRow where your finger is. The problem I am having is even though the touchView is reacting to my move events, the scroller still keeps reacting to my move events as well even though it's a sub layer. Because I started on the scroller it still keeps track!
How can I remove focus / tracking from the scroller?

I created two custom class called fooClass.as and HelloClass.as Then I want to import both of these Custom Classes in my WorkSpace.fla file
so I do the following I open up my WorkSpace.fla file Press F9 to open up the actionScript panel in FrameOne LayerOne and I type in
import fooClass
import HelloClass
then I want to start using these two classes so I do the following
var work:fooClass = new fooClass();
var space:HelloClass = new HelloClass();
Technically speaking when I type in var work: I should see list of classes inside the library including my custom Class fooClass and HelloClass However after the colon I see other build in classes but not fooClass.
It works in CS5 but not CS4. How do I get to work it in CS4 so that I can use the custom class I created to show up in the library.

I can't find a way to directly access a MC (or textfield, etc) on the timeline from a Class loaded into my Document Class. No problem from the Doc Class, but can't do it directly from the loaded Class. Is there a trick to essentiall extend the Doc Class AS from another external class?

In a Flex 4 app (with Spark components) I have a ViewStack with various screens, and a TabBar to navigate between them. I'd like the screens to be able to "blink" their tab when something happens in them (like Windows task bar buttons).How can I do this? My idea is to hack the blinking state into the screen's label (inherited from NavigatorContent) by putting a * in it when blinking, and somehow reading that in a custom tab bar skin.
