I am trying to have 3 image holders that will constantly dissolve between 2 images. (different images in each holder). And that I could change the images and the delay of the dissolve via XML. I have managed to create a basic 1 holder that will dissolve images which are being pulled via XML. (through a great tutorial). But I can't break it down to 3 holder.

I tried playing with a blurred mask, but that isn't quite what I'm looking for, since it seems to only be able to work with a colored edge and not fade into the other pic.

View 10 RepliesI have written this code that tranisitions through 3 pictures using the pixel dissolve properties for AS3. I am trying to create a loop so the the transitions will loop infinately through the pictures. This is the code I have written. I was thinking about possibly adding my pictures to an array and writing a for loop, but im kind of new to AS and am not too sure how to go about it.

Have flash installed works great except I want it to resolve to different URL when finished. A second option is to see the window go away and the HTML appear underneath.I have already used the transparent and this does not work.For some reason, it makes its own window and pushes the HTML down and after it runs, one must scroll down to read the index page.

In addition to the text label (to the left of it, actually), I'd like to have a square icon (an image thumbnail) with each row in the list.
I've successfully (finally) been able to pull imagery from an external XML list and display it on stage and even add it to be pulled randomly. What I'm hoping to be able to do, is after the first image comes in, using a mask bring another on top of it with a vertical blinds effect.And alternate back and forth with this technique. My thought process is two XML lists being pulled alternately? (I'm probably WAY off.) I've seen a couple templates out there, but 1. I'm a financially strapped programmer and 2. I wouldn't learn anything that way anyways.
ps. I might include the code that I have thus far in a little bit.It's nothing more than a modified version of an XML slideshow from another tutorial site.
I have made a very simple xml menu, from opensource codes, that loads a description with each image. This is very good sure, but I really need several descriptive fields (ex. fabric, style #, and size), and on seperate lines, that is, in seperate text fields.
So my question is: How do I add three descriptive fields to be pulled (via xml) into my flash document?

I have a directory of PDF's that I am loading the names of dynamically using PHP: My PHP file looks like this:

Now the code works perfect and it displays the name of all the pdf's but I want to somehow make a button on top of each displayed pdf that makes it clickable. I have a 3D carousel that's displaying some web pages. When they're clicked on they come forward and there's a paragraph of text displaying some info (that's pulled from the .xml).I would like to have a link after the paragraph to the web page that it's displaying that says something like "Launch" or "Click Here to View Site"So can I add that link into my .xml document?

Is there a way to store each word used from the array to compair to so that the same word dose not get used twice... or even just remove the word from the array list till there is nothing in the list? Now need to incorporate into a quiz application which pulls in data via, XML, displays that, and shows the number of questions. So if 50 questions are in the XML file 50 questions will be displayed in the quiz. What I am trying to do is use the XML file as a question pool and randomly select say 30 questions out of the file to display. no luck so far, but I am making progress!

I'm trying to get a preload movie clip (progress_clip) to show up when an image is being pulled from the xml data bank and then shut the visiblity to false when the image is done loading. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong any bump in the right direction would be very cool.

I used the code above to create an instance of an arrow graphic that I made using the line tool (the graphic is embedded in a movie clip). I now want to add different colored fills and different stroke sizes and colors using code. Is it possible to do this with pre-drawn vector graphic objects, or is it only doable if I create the arrow with code using things like lineTo and curveTo?
I have a flash file sitting inside of a web page in our company domain. There is another server (used to store images) that is part of the domain but is not running any web services (for security reasons). A folder on the images server is however shared in such a way that any site on the web server can display images from the images server as long as the user is plugged into the domain. For example, both I and my boss can pull up a web site on the web server and see all the information, but only he can see the images
because I have Vista Basic and no domain support. This is done via "<img src='\serverNamedirectory.'/>"
That's ok, but on this particular instance I don't want to display the image on the webpage, I want it in a SWF on the page. However the SWF can't seem to load the images even though the page it's sitting in could. I've tried tons of variations of URLRequests and Loaders, most resulting in security errors. Since most of the online discussions about these errors revolve around cross-domain access, I can't seem to find any tech support for our specific situation.
i couldn't find a tutorial on this matter so i sorta started making my own hypothesis... what i'm trying to do is: have a gallery of images automatically scrolling horizontally while having the set of images loop. like at[URL]..
here are a couple of my theories and questions for AS commands to have this work:
1) display a range of pixels of an image at certain positions, i.e. if gallery is scrolling to the left, leftmost image when its parts are disappearing out of the viewing area, they become visible at the right.
2) have two instances of each image and when an image is disappearing on left, the second instance of that image comes visible on the right. this I imagine would take up more HD space.
i guess what i was wondering more about is how jager did their gallery where there's only enough images are in a set to be viewed in the viewing area.
Explaination: MX 04' Pro Thumbnail Nav. loading images with XML Loader resizes and displays images when users click on Nav. reading XML Problem: Users click Thumbnail Nav. first image gets loaded and loader resizes to image. However the next choice by user on thumbnail click, the second image doesnt get resized in the loader. It goes beyond holder. Here is my code for Thumbnail and Loader:

Now the first image loads fine and the loader sizes to file from XML. However, when users click second choice from Thumbail the loader doesnt resize to new image size. It only gets resized on the first selction or if users click the next or prev. buttons then the images fade correctly but nothing fades back in. Now if they do hit next or prev and then hit a thumbnail option it loads and resizes.
I am pulling external images, I have my main image, and five small images, I have that to make the small images when click to appear in the place of the main image, but I am not obtaining to make they to click, I am placing my archive who to want to make download
