have a text file that is loaded into my flash and it gives the image number to be pulled into the mc (ImageId).

I'm currently doing a board game, in which you get asked questions and answer them for points. the questions get loaded from a .txt file. what I'm trying to do is that the questions appear in a random order everytime the game starts. I already have the shuffle function working, it shuffles 51 numbers (the number of questions in the game) between 51 variables, so each variable is assigned a different number and they don't repeat. My problem is that I can't figure out how to apply those numbers to the variable that get loaded from the text file. I could make many IF statements but that would be a lot of code, so I tried doing a function, but it didn't work. this is the function:

View 2 RepliesI've been trying to format a text field using html in an xml file. So far it's been working fine but I tried to load an image to the text field and I got this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
I figured I had my image in the wrong format (it was a jpg) so I tried png and gif with no results. Here's my xml file

I'm trying to get a preload movie clip (progress_clip) to show up when an image is being pulled from the xml data bank and then shut the visiblity to false when the image is done loading. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong any bump in the right direction would be very cool.

I use a variable to show the percentage loaded number in a dynamic text box. The problem I have is that it only works when there is more than 1 frame in the preloader scene.
My guess is, that when there is only one frame, the code is not being refreshed to update the text box.

I want the arrow to sit directly on the bar, which is a jpeg loaded into my DWCS3 page.
Currently, the flash file appears to be sitting directly on the nav bar graphic. For the flash file, I've selected Align "Absolute Bottom" and for the Nav Bar Image, I've selected Align "Top" but these two choices don't work.
I've got two files A and B. A generates a random number in a dynamic text box and loads an image as the background:

I'm trying to avoid useing a button to send the number from A to B, and instead am trying to use an event listener that sends the number when A loads background.jpg; but the number never gets sent (I start with B open already, and then open A). I've gotten this to work with an onRelease event for a button , so i know the LocalConnection coding works, but as I said I want to avoid using a button to send the number. I'm sure it's right in front of me but i've got no clue why it isn't working, so I defer to wiser minds.

How can I replace text loaded from an external file with text from another external file? Using setInterval and calling the .load from a function or something? In the example below I'm calling an external text file, could this also work with an .xml file with cycling through the children?

I used the code above to create an instance of an arrow graphic that I made using the line tool (the graphic is embedded in a movie clip). I now want to add different colored fills and different stroke sizes and colors using code. Is it possible to do this with pre-drawn vector graphic objects, or is it only doable if I create the arrow with code using things like lineTo and curveTo?
Attached is simplified fla show my text file load and use its value problem. Would somebody be so kind to have a look and let me know why it doesn't work. It's so simple i cant see why it shouldn't.
