All I can find information on for the URLLoader object in Actionsript 3.0 involves loading XML files, which I don't want to do. I'm trying to load in a .txt file that I want to parse, line by line with each line being delimited by a comma. Anyone know a method of doing this or a place where I can find some information on how to do this?

Now, loading this text by loadText i need it to begin with "n=". Is it possible to add for example "n=" in front of the text outside the text ediotr? I can get the data loaded without the "n=" mark by a code like this:

i have one simple question. I did simple scrollbar for text which is loaded from external file. But, if the text in textfield is too short ( few words ) I dont want scrollbar to roll.

I've managed to piece together a flash website with my limited as3 knowledge. The text is loaded from external text files and styled with an external css file.
It's working perfectly in Firefox and Explorer but it only works SOME of the time in Safari (on my mac).It's hit and miss. Sometimes it styles the text sometimes it doesn't.

I am loading external text file in flash and i am trying to trace progress so i could use it to show user how far loading is completed.
And i have i problem as i only get my trace after my text is completly loaded and shown in flash. only than i see progress in my trace window. Do you have any idea why? I am using one frame on one layer i have text field that i need for my text and another layer with code

I have downloaded an xml gallery (as2) as we needed one for an old as2 file. Now I mostly use as3 but thought as I only needed to tweak it there would be no probs. Of course, it rarely works out that way. The problem is, text loaded from the xml file is displayed with its corresponding image. This works fine in the file.When I load the SWF into another SWF however, it all works EXCEPT the text doesn't show at all?? Whoever made the gallery used 'device fonts' in the textbox, I don't know if this has anything to do with it. I tried changing the textbox to dynamic and embedding characters but still nothing.

I am using the transition preloader on url]... to load in external swfs (http:url...). I have Spark's calendar component on one of the external swfs. All text appears fine when testing the calendar page itself but the text seems to disappear when it's loaded as an external swf into the main file. Is this a path issue?

View 2 RepliesI'm currently doing a board game, in which you get asked questions and answer them for points. the questions get loaded from a .txt file. what I'm trying to do is that the questions appear in a random order everytime the game starts. I already have the shuffle function working, it shuffles 51 numbers (the number of questions in the game) between 51 variables, so each variable is assigned a different number and they don't repeat. My problem is that I can't figure out how to apply those numbers to the variable that get loaded from the text file. I could make many IF statements but that would be a lot of code, so I tried doing a function, but it didn't work. this is the function:

I've been trying to format a text field using html in an xml file. So far it's been working fine but I tried to load an image to the text field and I got this error:
Error #2044: Unhandled IOErrorEvent:. text=Error #2124: Loaded file is an unknown type.
I figured I had my image in the wrong format (it was a jpg) so I tried png and gif with no results. Here's my xml file

I am trying to preload an mp3 file dynamically while showing the typical 'percentage loaded' in a dynamic text box. However for some reason, the percentage just doesn't count up - it freezes on 100% even though the mp3 file is still loading. I have included the code that I'm using below. Also, does anyone know what would be the best way to adjust this code so that I could preload multiple mp3 files at the same time or one after another?

i changed fle types i saved pics in jpg, jpeg, bmp, png. but nothing works.
in Flex I'm able to load a Image into an Image component (mx:Image) via a URL and it will display it, however in Flash if I try to load the same image via URL I get an unknown file type error. If I browse to the URL in a broswer, I can view the image.
