View 1 RepliesI have a simple form that I'm building. It has a variable length list of entries, and I'm using a TextInput for each entry.
Because the list is variable in length, I'm allowing the user to delete elements from the list. One of the ways they can do this is to press the backspace key when the cursor is in an empty TextInput. I am handing KeyboardEvent.KEY_DOWN and checking for the backspace key, to accomplish this.
The problem I am having is that after I remove the deleted TextInput, I want to leave the focus in the TextInput above. I can do this using 'setFocus', and that works fine, however it seems that the backspace is still processing, and so after the focus is set, the content of the TextInput is delete which I don't want.
To get around this, I've created a one-shot timer with a 0ms delay which changes the focus after the KeyDown event has completed.
My workaround is successful, but feels very heavy handed. Is there a better way to achieve the same effect?
I'm trying to add a focus event to a text box. View 10 RepliesI have a custom TitleWindow component that is registered to listen for keyboard events from the user (so that esc closes the window, enter saves, etc.). However, in my testing I've found a couple cases where my keyboard event handlers don't fire. My best guess as to why this is happening is that there is some child component somewhere that has stolen focus and is stopping the keyboard events from propagating.
Unfortunately, due to the large number of components in my TitleWindow, I have no good way of knowing who has stolen the focus. My question then is, are there any good tips / techniques / tools for debugging focus issues and event propagation in Flex? Basically, I need something that will tell me who has the focus at any given time and who's handling an event at any given time... is that possible?

My Sprite class keeps losing focus when I click with the mouse - specifically after the MOUSE_DOWN event (before the click is complete).
I have set mouseEnabled to false on the children, no change. I added a listener for FOCUS_OUT and noticed that the FocusEvent.relatedObject property is NULL, which is confusing me - doesn't that mean there is no new focus target, the focus is just getting lost?

So far as it says above i have 10 questions setup i use a php script to submit answers to mysql and update the users score after checking the answer from mysql. The questions are all written out on a keyframe each with radio buttons and checkboxes depending on the question. Well anyway i will get to the point.
I have can test the quiz and can get to question 4 before i get undifiend from the radio buttons on that frame i dont know why i keep getting it it is setup the same as the first 3 questions with the same code but the radiogroup is named differently.This may be terrible code but it worked for the first 3 so i dont see why its not working for the rest of them :S

i'm trying to find a solution to this problem: in the frist frame of the project i have 3 radiobuttons (Mambasradio, Amaronradio, Mastajbuonradio). In the second frame i have a ComboBox (Centers). I created 4 Arrays (mambascenters, amaroncenters, mastajcenters, nothing) and i tried to change the Array of the Centers.dataProvider with the RadioButtons selections. So if i selected Mambasradio, the dataProvider will beCenters.dataProvider = new DataProvider(mambascenters)I tried a lot of things but i didn't figured out of this. Here's what they look like in my fla file: I can't put images, so you will have to copy and paste these links : musique-chroniques.ch/1.jpg When I test them (CTRL + enter) they work fine. Once I put them online, they start acting strange on click: musique-chroniques.ch/2.jpg[/url] I thought maybe some actionscript could have interferred with them. I removed all the code from the animation to test it, but the problem remained.

I have a problem with my AdvancedDataGrid which has inside it colums of radiobuttons.The problem is when I click on a cell in the Grid, the Radiobuttons selection become instable, some of the radio buttons of other colums become selected.The behavior I want is that when the selects the RadioButtons(the circle or its label), it become selected and not all the Cell in which the radioButton is.Here my code:

when i have this line active(the red one) it gives me automatic focus, so no clicking to be able to detect key input so i got that going for me which is nice BUT when i have it active(not commented out) i get this big yellow line which goes away when i click it(seeBelow)

I have editable grids which are 2-way binded to my model. What I want is to validate my data when user edits any cell before it get updated in model. I have applied my validation at ItemEditEnd handler, but, I want to apply validation in between itemEditBegin and itemEditEnd events.

If I add a mouse-click event listener to both component(click-listener1) and icon(click-listener2), the event dispatched sequence is click-listener2, then click-listener1. I can understand it. But if I add a custom event to component (listener1), and mouse-click event to icon(listener2), when icon is clicked, the component will dispatch the custom event. In my test, the event dispatched sequence is listener1, then listener2. It doesn't match with event-bubbles rule.
In my opinion The custom event is dispatched in listener2, which triggers listener1. Why event flow sequence is not listener2, listener1?

When I publish a Flash CS4 Pro / AS3 game to an SWF file and uploads it to my webserver, I have to click the screen before I can use keyboard events.
Is there a way to force a focus onto the "swf stage" when loading the file in the browser, or do I have to publish an html file that controls the swf file to do that?[url]...

In IE, onkeydown events are not detected in JavaScript if a SWF has focus but Firefox always detects onkeydown.
Upon entering the screen, I set the focus to the first field, a combobox, and after making a selection I want to tab to the next field, a textfield, but I can't tab out of the combobox. I can use the mouse to click on the textfield and give it focus but I'd rather tab. I also tried to programatically give focus to the textfield (from the function associated with the combox's listener) without success.
