Jun 11, 2004I can't get code in my button to change the values displayed in my dynamic text boxes. I have a column of twelve dynamic text boxes which display numbers stored in an array. The array contains more than twelve numbers. I want to use buttons to refresh the information in the boxes (effectively creating a scrolling effect) so that the remaining contents of the array can be revealed as required. In the code below Stats1 etc. refer to the dynamic text. The array is called Stats4display. This shows the information fine.[code]I had hoped that by incrementing the value of x I could update all the dynamic text boxes with the next value along in the array.

May 23, 2007I got a music portfolio web site running PHP, MySQL and Flash. There's a page showing all the artists my client worked for and when you click on a song title, this title is passed as a variable to a PHP page then to a Flash page. The Flash page contains an actionscript music player which then looks for the right audio file in the database and plays the song. Everything works great except for the dynamic text field which displays the song title. If the song title contains an apostrophe or a single quote, the Flash dynamic text field then shows the apostrophe.[code]

Sep 28, 2010I have 2 input textfields on the stage and 1 dynamic textfield.
-input1 is for quantity
-input2 is for page count
When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. If it isn't inside a movie clip I can do it. But how to I reference it when inside one?

Feb 1, 2011I'm having a problem adding numbers that are loaded to dynamic text boxes. I'm using AS 2 (Flash 8). The numbers are loaded to the textboxes from a text file using a loadVars command. The text boxes have instance names of TELEMATICS and BOOK - I have a third textbox called (instance name) RESULT - the text file is called TEST1.txt. My problem is that after trying (and trying) several solutions in tutorials I am unable to add the values in TELEMATICs and BOOK to get a (sum) total in RESULT. On that frame, there is a movie clip (instance name: scrollbox_frame), and in that movie clip there is a four-layer animation. One of the layers is not animated but contains a dynamic text box (instance name: about_frame), with multi-line and HTML turned on, and a variable name of "aboutus". This is the code that is triggered by the menu button on the root of the flash movie:

Data Integration :: Some Files Are Not Displayed On Macs
Aug 30, 2006I have a swf which it receives it's content from xml files. It displayes jpg's and mp3's by getting their paths from xmls. (also I must note that these jpegs and mp3s are uploaded from an asp.net form)
My problem is some jpgs are not being displayed & some mp3s are not played at macintoshs. I've tested with almost all mac browsers and flash plug-ins. It's all same. While some files are being displayed some do not. I see blank the area where the jpgs should be shown.

Apr 12, 2007I have a scroll pane that is linked to a movie clip with a dynamic text field. The scroll pane expands automatically based on the length of the dynamic text field. I would also like to have the dynamic text field expand automatically to fit the dynamic content from an external .txt file if there is too much text to fit in the default text field length.

CS3 Dynamic Text - Change Colors Based On Data
Aug 25, 2009I'm building a project for a gaming website and i have an interesting dilemma. How do i make the font color change based on the data loaded from the external .txt file.
Example:
In text files i could have... yes yes yes no no maybe yes no. If the text says yes i would like for the font to change to green, if no to red, or maybe to orange/yellowish.
So basically if i went in and changed the No to a Yes on a .txt file, the next time i viewed that flash section the yes text would be in green instead of the default set by the flash core itself.
I hope i am making sense. I don't even know how to go about starting and i stared at the actionscript list for awhile to no avail.

XML Data Parsed To Dynamic Text Field Within Buttons?
Sep 2, 2010I've got my XML file loaded and parsing correctly with a trace statement.
I want to have each text identified as marketLocation1, marketLocation2, etc up to 150 and I wanted to use a 'for loop' to place the value of that XML node into each labeled text field, and each individual text field is buried inside a button so that the button displays on mouseover an associated XML fields data. Each button would also be corresponding labeled market_1, market_2, etc.
Meaning, I mouse over a dot on a map (button) and it pulls up a statistics balloon about that location specific to our companies needs. I'm a total AS3 noob, so I'm not sure if I can preload the data for that button into it's specific text fields.
Specifics are for the xml/flash file

I have markets divided up into regions. I have the base map, which when you click each region goes to a new labeled scene on the root timeline. The scene shows a closeup version of the region. On that region are the dots for the markets. Each dot would have an up state and over state (displaying the pop-up balloon with data) etc.
I'm working on the first 'button' as the initial test and what I want to do is make is that i can use a For loop to cut down on the code, using the variable i in place of the "1,2,3..."
The first button, market_1 is in a labeled scene SERegion on the main timeline. While the code I'm using to parse all the fields is in frame 1.
When I try to place the value of marketLocation located inside the button market_1, I am trying to do this when I parse the data

When i compile, i get the error 1119: Access of possibly undefined property marketLocation through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton
MarketLocation is also in just the Over state of the button.

May 2, 2011I am trying to load dynamic data into text fields with in flash (.swf) the system is a closed circuit (no internet & web access) basically there are about 10 standalone computers connect through a network and one central computer i created a flash which will be downloaded to all the computers at once and each computer has a unique (name).
My goal is to load the different data into the text field for each computer:
Computer 1 would have winner 1
Computer 2 would have winner 2
and so one........
Steps the code should do..
1. call function and load the "unique (name)." of the computer by going to ("c:/myharddrive/local.ini"); flash will reconize the "ini file to say "this is computer 1
2.then have the txt request come from("c:/CMS/MediaFiles/Data2.txt");
when i publish the file out there is no errors-
When I view the files on each computer there is no data (blank screen")
so my guess it is not seeing the path for new URLRequest("c:/myharddrive/local.ini");
or
new URLRequest("c:/CMS/MediaFiles/Data2.txt");
can anyone breakdown the code and let me know how flash can go to those specific areas on each individual computer and pull the data into flash
