ActionScript 2.0 :: 3D Rotating Cube - Creating Array Of Image Links
Jan 12, 2011
I have the 3D rotating cube. Each panel of the cube is an image pulled in through actionscript. When you click on one of the panels, the cube straightens itself to show only the face you've clicked on. This is all great. However, I want to be able to click on that face again and have it link to a URL. This is where I get lost.
I feel like I'm ALMOST there - I've gotten it to work so that I can click the panel and it links to a URL, but right now every panel links to the same link. I haven't figured out how to make each panel link to its own separate URL. Here is the portion of code in my .FLA where I've added the linking action:
Code:
setupFaceAction = function (cube) {
for (var i = 0; i<cube.faceArray.length; i++) {
var face = cube.faceArray[i];
face.onPress = function() {
if (!cube.fading) {
[Code] .....
This is the line I added to make it link when you click the panel after it's facing forward:
Code:
cube.getURL("[URL]", "_self");}
So I assume I need to set up some sort of array so I can have multiple links that correlate with the appropriate image. To make it clearer, I've attached all of my files, so you can see all the code. You'll find actionscript in the .FLA and two external actionscript files. I think "cube.as" may be where I need to do the work.
I got a problem with a nice rotating cube(from ericlin) on the mac. This is the link: [URL] When i click outside the swf movie(in html) the cube becomes nuts and rotates very very fast. I only have problem on mac. I already tried things like this, but no succes
I'm trying to make a simple cube menu. The rotation is done by buttons. After finishing my code, im having some troubles with some rotations of the cube.
I want to make a rotating cube with rounded edges. I already saw lots of cube sources, but i need one with rounded edges. My maths actionscript is not so good.
I've been trying to develop a Flash Cube that has different images on each face as well as individual links for each, but I'm having trouble coding it - I can either get it with images and one link per cube, or no images and individual links!!(I've seen this elsewhere) I'd like it to freeze its rotation when you hover over each face as well.
Flash noob here using cs3/as3. I'm trying to create a simple banner which fades between 2 images, looped. (This I can do!). What I'd like is to have each image link to a different url. I've tried changing the images to buttons with the following actionscript:
on (release) { getURL('http://www.mysite.com', '_self'); }
but get the following error: Mouse events are permitted only for button instances even though they are buttons! I thought this would be really simple, but obviously not! Any ideas are gratefully received.
I have a banner that I'm creating, it has 5 images that rotate via motion tweening. I've created an invisibile button (and also attempted to create multiple buttons) so that when you click on a specific image it will bring you to that URL. So far I have only gotten it to work for the final URL. No matter which image I click on, it only brings up that last URL.
Here is my code:
btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, buttonClickHandler1); function buttonClickHandler1(event:MouseEvent):void { navigateToURL(new URLRequest("http://www.google.com")); }
I have a set of links (movie clips) arranged in a circle. When one of the links is clicked, I would like the circle of links to rotate until the selected link is in a certain position - straight down (90 degrees) in this case - and the others to maintain their positions relative to the clicked link (ie: they all move, but the distance between them is maintained). The behavior is intended to be like a bullet rotating into a chamber on a revolver, or - more accurately - like that of a Ferris Wheel. [URL] Here is my mangled version of the AS from the site linked above:
ActionScript Code: // setting variables var centerX = Stage.width/2; // Stage Center X var centerY = Stage.height/2; // Stage Center Y
A cube that will rotate automatically .Images from XML will be shown to each side of the cube and each side to have a url so when you click on it to redirect you to a website.More specific, something like this might help you understand more clearly.. 3D Cube Banner Rotator in the activeden(I can't post a URL yet).Without texts,shadows etc.
I want to create a cube with images from an xml,..that will rotate to one side of it and show me an image..stay for a while then rotate again to next image-side..wait etc.
I am new in actionscript 3.I want to make a rotating vertically cube with images from an xml.Cube will rotate to a side,stay for a while then rotate to the next side and show me the image for a while too and continue.In each side I want to pass a url so when I click the side-image to direct me to a website.
i need to do something like the swf file am attaching instead of the cube revolving... i need to draw my own image. how to bring this effect in flash. as if now, i have created the cube rotatoin in swift 3d and have exported it as a swf file. also can we draw our own images in swift 3d? (instead of the readymade cube?)
I have created a rotating menu using AS3 from a tutorial here; [URL]I have it working now but I am trying to change the rotation axis, so the circle responds to the mouse vertically(Up &down) as at the moment it is hoizontally(left & right)
I am working on a project and am trying to create a menu that upon clicking a certain point rotates to a frame and then plays a clip. Something similar to this navigation would be great:[URL]..
I am doing a project for class and I am trying to see how i can make a certain action script in flash.I wanted to see if I can stack a few hundred (very small) images on top of one another with very low opacities.These stacked images will randomly change their order in the layers and create a unique composition everytime.Is there a way to do this in flash? if so, how would I go about it?
I'm using Adobe Flash CS4 professional for this Actionscript 3.0 project. This error always shows up whenever I compile it: "Line 65 - 1093: Syntax error" Haven't I had the parentheses right?
Code: //Save the center coordinates of the stage var centerX:Number=stage.stageWidth/2; var centerY:Number=stage.stageHeight/2; //The number of items we will have (feel free to change!) var NUMBER_OF_ITEMS:uint=15; [Code] .....
If I click on mc1, then mc1 has to go to the position of mc3, mc3 has to go to the position of mc2. The same thing must happen when I click on mc2, it has to move to the position of mc3 and mc3 has to move to the position of mc1. I would like to create some kind of infinitive effect by rotating the mc's. In a later stadium I want to fill the mc's with pictures.
I am trying to generate a list of links via xml using as3. I have created a movie linkHolder and a text field called linkText.
I then add link text to linkHolder and add linkHolder to the stage. I have an eventListener attached to linkHOlder which calls a function and when I roll over the links it activates the function correctly.
How do I give a unique id or reference to each button so that I can pull up the correct link associated with it?
Here's some of my code:
Code:
function createVideoLinks():void{ for (var i:int=0; i<externalXML.videoClip.length();i++){ //build the arrays of link text and link destination vidText[i]=externalXML.videoClip.vTitle[i];
I am trying to get each of the following pictures in my flash file to link to different webpages. I have tried a bunch of different things, and can't quite get it to work right. I have put different urls on the images, but when I click on them they all go to that first url.
I am trying to create a list of links from some xml. I pout the link text into a textfield and then put this textfield inside a movie called linkHolder
How do I assign a unique identifier to the movie such that when the user clicks I can pull up the correct url from an array.
I'm trying to build a banner that rotates (fade in, fade out) our clients logos on our company website. If you look at [URL] at the bottom of their site they have client logos fading in and out using some sort of Flash script. What needs to happen is anytime a logo is dragged into a folder on our website it will automatically go into the rotation of logos appearing on the website.
I don't often come onto forums, only when its really a big problem, and atm i need to create a 3d soccer ball that can rotate, but the black areas on the soccer ball i need to make click-able, kinda like having a soccer ball nav Can someone please point me in the right direction, i managed to build a transparent sphere made up of bitmap images that are click-able but i don't know how to skin the sphere with a soccer ball texture
I have to make a list every document linked in a multiple .fla files. I can pull them up doing a find for .pdf but I can't figure out how to copy the links from the results field. Each file links to 1000+ pdfs, so i'd like to avoid doing this one at a time. Is there a way to export the results of the find function to a .xml or .txt file?
i want to draw a map of a campus. then when you click on different buildings, the building pops up big (possibly with text alongside it)any links to a tutorial how to do this?
I put together a "photo gallery" using the tutorial I found at kirupa:

and i was just wondering what kind of function would I need to make each one of the images clickable AND go to separate url's. I figured out that I would NEED a function and a separate array that would link up the URL's to the Images but I don't know how to really make the images clickable in the first place.
I was wondering what the best practice was for creating text links in flash? I know how to create a button of course, give it an up, over and hit state. What I normally do is copy the text into each frame, and change the colour for each so that the user can tell when they're hovering and hitting the button. For the hit status, I draw a square for the hit.
But this can be time consuming if you have a lot of text links throughout your site. Especially if you want to change the text colour of your over and hit frames.
So I looked into making a better solution using Actionscript, which was having a function for each of the status, where you change the colour of the button.
I was wondering if anyone else had any other thoughts or wanted to share how they do their text links?
