Creating A Clickable Scale Button?

Aug 24, 2009

I am creating a survey in flash to survey people's opinion about the temperature in a building. What I am hoping to do is have a scale which the surveyee can click on (see attached image) with 5 options from Too warm, warm, just right, cool, and too cold, and record where on the scale they click.

For example, if "Just Right" were correlated to an answer of 3 and "Warm" was correlated to an answer of 2, and a user were to click halfway between the two, I would want the recorded value to be 2.5. If they click closer to "Just Right" I want the recoded answer to be 2.8, etc.

It seems that the quick and dirty way I can think of doing this is to create a serious of invisible buttons over my scale which can then tell me where they click, but then I am limited in the granularity of the answer and it would just be a pain to create that many buttons.

Creating Flash Animation With Clickable Buttons At The End?

May 31, 2010

I'm ultimately trying to create a flash page for an html website that has a brief five-second animation during which 3 buttons fade in (buttons then become clickable after the animation is over).

The animation part is done. Right now, I am trying to get my movie to stop and hold on the last frame, where I want to add the 3 buttons that the user can click on to take them to one 3 different html pages of my website.

All instructions that I've found online have said to create a new layer for actions, insert a keyframe on the last frame of the movie, and add stop(); in the actionscript window. However, when I have the keyframe selected, my actionscript window says "current selection cannot have actions applied to it".

I definitely don't have any objects selected, just the keyframe.

You can see that I have the frame (a keyframe) that I want to insert a "stop" action selected in the Actions layer. This is the first frame in which the buttons exist, and from what I can tell, I need the clip to stop on the first frame of my buttons, after my animation is over. (Still figuring out how to get the buttons to work, but will address that later...)

IDE :: Creating A Clickable Interface That Shows Values Graphically?

Nov 4, 2006

I need to create an interface for a competition which also is a fund raising event. There are a number of teams, and for each point a team scores, their 'points' will be equivalent to a certain amount of money.Problem:To figure out a way on how to make so, that when you click/add a point to a certain team, the following should happen:1) The team's amount increases2) The team's bar shows the same increase3) The total amount of all teams updates and shows at the top of the screenHere's a pic that illustrates the whole thing:Fund raiser interfaceIs there anyone out there who has a clue on how to get this thing working? The graphical aspects of it with tweening etc is no problem, it's the actual "adding value to Bar1 and have a MC show the increase, and summarize the total value of all bars" programming that I'm struggling majestically with.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Fantasy Soccer Script Problem

May 16, 2008

I run a soccer fantasy league in which managers choose their team from a flash pitch linked to a list of players in a mysql database. They drag players from the list onto 11 places on the pitch and submit their team to the database. The players are listed in database columns which include their id number, their club (eg MUN for Man United, CHE for Chelsea) and their name.
There are three actionscripts attached to the three frames on the swf, one for loading the players from the database, another for moving them about and a third, I think, for submitting. The action script is 2.0.
I want the flash script to only allow managers to drag and drop a limit of two players from each club onto the pitch and into their team. If they try to drag a third player from the same club onto the pitch I want and error window to pop up stopping them from doing it.
I know a bit about flash design but little about actionscript. Would this be easy to do in the flash script?
Hope someone out there can give me a steer.
cheers
Mickey

ActionScript 2.0 :: Soccer Game - Showing Classic Results Realtime With Scores

Jul 19, 2003

I want to make a soccer score game. A game that shows classic soccers results realtime with the score at the point they where scored.

An example:
World Cup 1986 Mexico
West Germany - Argentina
The final score 2 - 3
The players who scored and the exact time:

---West germany---
Rummenigge (74 min)
Voller (82 min)
------------------

---Argentina------
Brown (23 min)
Valdano (56 min)
Burruchaga (85 min)
------------------
The total of matches with data like above is 45.
The total time of a soccergame is 90 minutes.

And further more I want a start player selection kind-of-thing like this:
USER INPUT
select game [] (ex. VM 86 mexico, VM 94 USA etc.)
select number of players: [] (ex. 4)
select number of games pr player [] (ex. 5)
Select total time of playing [] (ex. 60 minutes)
Write the name of the players

1. Load external data (the pool of matches)
2. Get user input
3. Select random matches for the players
4. Calculate the time (90min/60min etc.)
5. Tell clock countdown the time and start the countdown from 90min to 0min
6. When a scoretime is equal to clockcountdown time then display game score and the soccerplayer who scored and the name of the player who got the match.

ActionScript 2.0 :: 3D Rotating Cube - Creating Array Of Image Links

Jan 12, 2011

I have the 3D rotating cube. Each panel of the cube is an image pulled in through actionscript. When you click on one of the panels, the cube straightens itself to show only the face you've clicked on. This is all great. However, I want to be able to click on that face again and have it link to a URL. This is where I get lost.

I feel like I'm ALMOST there - I've gotten it to work so that I can click the panel and it links to a URL, but right now every panel links to the same link. I haven't figured out how to make each panel link to its own separate URL. Here is the portion of code in my .FLA where I've added the linking action:

Code:
setupFaceAction = function (cube) {
for (var i = 0; i<cube.faceArray.length; i++) {
var face = cube.faceArray[i];
face.onPress = function() {
if (!cube.fading) {
[Code] .....

This is the line I added to make it link when you click the panel after it's facing forward:
Code:
cube.getURL("[URL]", "_self");}

So I assume I need to set up some sort of array so I can have multiple links that correlate with the appropriate image. To make it clearer, I've attached all of my files, so you can see all the code. You'll find actionscript in the .FLA and two external actionscript files. I think "cube.as" may be where I need to do the work.

This is a pretty simple thing but I'm not sure what is the best way to do this. How do you define the "hot spot" for a movieclip?. Let's say you want to define what part of that movieclip is sensitive to the cursor within that same movieclip in a frame. (like the Hit Frame in a button object). The Hit Area property seems to only refer to other movieclips, and not able to define it as a specific frame.

Flash8 :: Using Variabes With Text Areas?

Mar 13, 2010

Im trying to make a game, but want to use specific text input to get points, this is probably simple but it doesnt seem to work for me. Essentially I have a text input area on the screen and if the user enters the right value and then clicks continue they get points. I have a text input area named numgame and have attached this code to the continue button:

on (release) {
if (numgame = "343"){
_root.score = _root.score + 100;
gotoAndPlay(536);
}
}

Currently it seems like the if statement isnt even doing anything, the score is added once continue is pressed no matter what is entered. Is there a better/ correct way of doing this.

Professional :: Filling Pen Tool Areas?

Jan 24, 2010

This is a very very basic question.I am able to colour and otherwise manipulate elementary vector objects, such as rectangles. Yes, I know how to use the colour panel and the fil land ink pot tool. However, sometimes I can colour a vector shape drawn with the pen tool and sometimes I cannot. It seems completely random.In detail: select keyframe on an empty layer.I make a triangle with the pen tool, and a small circle shows completion. I get a triangle.This is coloured not for the stroke but for the layer. It seems to exist in two densities - a layer coloured line for drawing, a thicker, same-coloured one after selection.However, neither the ink bottle nor the fill tool do anything. I can set the colour in advance, or after the event, through the colour panel or otherwise, nothing. A gradient fill does not even show the guide lines for the fill tool.
