I have two separate video widgets running on the same test page [URL] and when an input textfield from one of the widgets receives focus or is typed into, the other widget goes black.

View 2 RepliesI could get some direction on something that I have been wondering about for a while. There have several flash video players that I have seen that only start to load/play the video when the object is visible on the screen.
For instance, if I click a link to an html page with an auto playing flv on it, and then minimize the window. The video will only start to play/load once I maximize the window again.
The other instance I have seen it is with the position of the page. So if an flv is placed onto a long html page, all the way at the bottom, it will only begin to load/play once I have scrolled to make it visible.
I have done some searching but have not been able to determine what this would even be refered to as. Is it controlled by Javascript or Actionscript, or is this just a the way flash player functions?

The object is a black field. The fn "setup" writes text on this field. The problem with the code commented out is that it changes the alpha of both the black field and the text, whereas I simply want to change the alpha of the black field. How can I do this? Can I do it in the IDE?
I am trying to fade TEXT from black color to lets say red...Well, when I try to break the text apart and make it Shape Tween - it breaks the text, mean some part of the original text disappear...When I try to Motion Tween, nothing happens... Same for classic tween :<
View 5 RepliesI need a few minor changes done to my site such as changing the text on the About page and also changing it so that when you view a picture in any of the galleriess the background is completely black, right now it just fades out the text and thumbnails and is not entirely black.
I have never used Flash before but am pretty good with Photoshop, Illustrator and a little bit of Dreamweaver. Would these changes be difficult for someone who has never used Flash but can pick things up fairly quickly? I have all the files for my website, any suggestions where I should look first to make the changes I require.

This code corresponds to a quiz question where the correct answer is either blue or green. I get the #1009 error if I input "blue". The answer "green" seems to work ok. What's wrong with my code? Is there a better way to make is so more than one answer works? Something like "blue" or "green" or "otheranswer", etc..?

Through loadClip I am able to do this, but I face a lot of issues.Like for eg the space in which (container) I want to load the youtube movie, I am not able to confined it into that space by just giving that container a width/height.After lot of exploring, if I give it _xscale and _yscale I can somehow get it to those coordinates and dimensions but still dont understand why it just doesnt load into that space like a photo that I would import.
Now, suppose I want to increase the size of this widget to something like 500x500 - whats the best way to do this?1) Create a new widget with 500x500 dimenions? Too painful.2) Just while embedding change dimensions of 400x300 widget to 500x500?This works when I just load photos but not youtube videos. It screws my stage and just keep it like 400x300 and not 500x500
I am using the FLVPlayback component to play a flash video. Currently, the input video I am using is a H.264 encoded .mp4 file. My question is regarding the type of video input which the component supports. In the sense, I understand the kind of videos which the playback component supports(h.264, sorenson spark encoded videos and the like). I specifically wanted to know whether there is a provision to play a video which has chapters and is there any skin to support such a feature?
Background Info: I am using Flash Professional CS 5 and the language is AS3. I am using flash on an embedded platform.
Noob question, I hope. I need to create scrolling text areas with rich text format content. I know I can use the textArea component and set the htmlText property but converting all of my RTF to HTML is gonna be a major pain in the @$$. I keep getting into trouble thinking what's mindlessly easy in Director/Lingo is gonna be reasonably simple in Flash/AS3, I hoping this is just my inexperience with Flash getting in the way. Is there an easier way? I thought of embedding a PDF document but apparently that's not an option in Flash either (note: I know how to link a PDF doc, I need this text to display and scroll within the application, not just pop a new window on top).

The method I've been toying with so far has been the use of CSS highlighting, but have not seemed to have any luck thusfar. What I'm attempting to do is to illustrate, to students, sections within a passage of text pertaining to correct methods of source referencing (source in terms of bibilographical references), and so am essentially trying to change the background colour of sections of text specified at runtime.Here's some code I've thrown together to test the CSS theory:

I would like to create a "component" -- basically a drop-down menu. Except that my drop-down menu will not select an item when a user clicks on it. The user must click on it for 2 seconds and then it will be selected. How can I create this custom widget/component?

This is a very very basic question.I am able to colour and otherwise manipulate elementary vector objects, such as rectangles. Yes, I know how to use the colour panel and the fil land ink pot tool. However, sometimes I can colour a vector shape drawn with the pen tool and sometimes I cannot. It seems completely random.In detail: select keyframe on an empty layer.I make a triangle with the pen tool, and a small circle shows completion. I get a triangle.This is coloured not for the stroke but for the layer. It seems to exist in two densities - a layer coloured line for drawing, a thicker, same-coloured one after selection.However, neither the ink bottle nor the fill tool do anything. I can set the colour in advance, or after the event, through the colour panel or otherwise, nothing. A gradient fill does not even show the guide lines for the fill tool.

View 1 RepliesIm trying to make a game, but want to use specific text input to get points, this is probably simple but it doesnt seem to work for me. Essentially I have a text input area on the screen and if the user enters the right value and then clicks continue they get points. I have a text input area named numgame and have attached this code to the continue button:

Currently it seems like the if statement isnt even doing anything, the score is added once continue is pressed no matter what is entered. Is there a better/ correct way of doing this.
I'm working on for a flooring company. They want a Flash movie that allows the user to change the look (product and color) of different areas of the floor.I have a menu on the left side that designates the three different areas of the floor. I have the two products along with color swatches along the top. I currently have each of the three areas as separate movies that load into a main movie.These three area movies each contain the color swatches on the top as buttons to change the color of that area using "On Release > Go To Frame Label" actions that displays each of the different colors. These movies each load on a different level based on the selection of the left side menu.I want the user to be able to go to each of the three areas and change the product/color attributes without losing what they had already done. For instance, if they choose PRODUCT A in RED for AREA 1, then they want to change the product/color on AREA 2, I still want the movie to display PRODUCT A in RED for AREA 1, etc.The problem I run into is that when you go back and forth between the three areas, the navigation only controls what movie is on the top level and doesn't allow the user to go back to a previous area and change the product/color attribute.

View 18 RepliesThis is about fill in the blanks in flash 8 as2. In this i used input text fields and three buttons.In first frame i used multiple input text fields and a submit button. After filling all the blanks we click on submit button then in the second frame we will show the result like if the blank is correct it should change the color to green and if it is wrong it should change to red.and in the frame i have check button when we click on it will display all the answers. And when we click on analyse button we have to display the answer which the user types and the correct answers.And my problem is when we click on submit there is no difference in the blanks color all are in black only.

The third last line of the following evidently controls the colour of the text on rollover:
