Is there any way to access Windows on-screen keyboard through a flash interface. Have searched and can not find any reference. Developing a kiosk with touchscreen BUT the client wants a backup (just in case!!!!!)

One annoying problem is than when I am editing in text field, Safari will go to the previous page upon pressing backspace. Is it possible to overcome the problem by any AS3 code?

The interface is somewhat like nested DVD menus, and it is not known in advance how many buttons there will be or where they will be placed. So for example you would be on button 1, if you press right, the closest button to the right would be selected. how would I go about enabling this? The purpose is to enable keyboard navigation for complex management screens for a game I am doing;
I would like this to be as independant and reusable as possible, which means I would like it to work with any clickable object, not just buttons, and certainly not my own custom class of buttons. This also means the buttons might be placed through the flash IDE and so placing them on a grid is not an option (I'd like this to be easy to use for non-techies).
My thinking goes like this: add all buttons to a manager, then select the first one, then on keypress, triangulate and select the closest in an angle of (+45degrees,-45degrees) of direction pressed. But it seems overkill to me, and I guess in some edge cases, some buttons will be forever unselectable.
I wanted to know how can I make my on screen keyboard type in to a text box. I want my keyboard which I have designed , when a letter is clicked I want it to display the letter in the text box. Note this is not a full keyboad its only the letter. Image attached of the keyboard and text box.

However playing flash related content always freezes when in full screen mode. This includes if something is playing or if the movie has ended and the player is staying in full screen mode.I have tried on IE8, Firefox and Safari. View 1 RepliesI am currently having a problem when launching the trial version of flash cs5.5 . The screen that says the timeleft at my trial comes up but the flash cs5.5 screen stays black and is "not responding". About two weeks ago, it worked, so i don't know what is happening. All my other programs work. I tried to reinstall it, to delete the left flash cs5.5 program files after the uninstall and many other things, but it dosen't work.Here is a screen capture of the flash cs5.5 blackscreen. notice that in the frame of the window it tells" not responding".

which works, but I'm also told to avoid it, as it's buggy : - I also tried

fscommand("fullscreen","true");
fscommand("showmenu","false");[code]....
but this doesn't work either, in swf or standalone .exe.
Can someone recommend a good solution for a Windows based wrapper around a Flash application(or even IE, in which I can call Flash), that would launch as an executable and force the screen to a specific resolution and then render the Flash in that (full screen) window?

Which works fine. I was wondering if there was a way to either remove the case sensitive properties of the keypress action, or to force the keyboard to return a caps lock or something. The only way I can think of doing it so far would be something like this:

Which obviously will double the amount of code needed - especially as the event for a small c and a capital C would be the same.
I heard that the flash action script 3 is disabled the keyboard interaction on full screen mode. How can I enable.
View 1 RepliesI have an enterprise Flex web application, served up over https, that runs fine on Flash player 10.0 and beyond on a desktop computer/browser.
However, when I run it from my HTC Incredible with Android 2.2 the app loads fine, but there is no on-screen keyboard and so I cannot log in. I can see the blinking cursor inside the username and password text fields. I can switch between them. I can even hit the login button and see an authentication error!
currently I use the following workflow for Live video streaming.I have FMLE on a computer streaming the Video feed to my FMS.I currenlty use Dreamweaver to create window with a few instances of a video window and one of the windows is configured to rtmp to my server and the stream name of the stream I have setup in FMLE.This then streams to one of the windows.I then assign a different Stream name to the other windows.
I send an FMLE client to a user in the locations that want to have a video presence on the webpage.I send them instructions and running FMLE and the parameters to use to get their camera up and running.This works fine to a point.Most of the users are not technically minded and so often this leads to issues and delays to get these things to work.
I want to move on and improve this flow.I want to create the video instances on the page where:Below each video window is a text input field where a user can type in their name which will be used as the stream name.Below each video window is a button that the user clicks to connect their camera automatically without having to install FMLE.Once the video feed is running, only that user can click the button again to disconnect it. ( The button changes to "Stop Broadcast" etc).
I have looked at the structure of Ustream for example, and this seems to be the method they use as you can download the XML file of your channe,l and the RTMP URL and stream name can be copied and then used directly in FMLE and you can stream with more control of your camera that way.
I have a ActiveX control hosting a flash-player which is in turn running a flash file trying to access data from a web-address.
In an old Windows Application version of my application everything works fine and the flash file is able to access the web-content.
However, in a newer Console Appliction version of the application it can no longer access the web-content.
Is there some kind of difference between a Windows Application and a Console application in terms of security/permissions that might affect an ActiveX hosted flash-player?
i have created a page in flash with input text field and a toggle button which implies full screen mode as well as normal mode by including the below script. stage.display = "fullscreen".
Users cannot enter text in text input fields while in full screen mode. All keyboard input and key-related ActionScript is disabled while in full screen mode, with the exception of the keyboard shortcuts that take the viewer out of fullscreen mode Is there any solution to enable the keyboad inputs.
I'm trying to go full screen by using the external interface...
i am able to communicate with the flash via JS but there it doesn't go full screen.
Is there any security issue concerning this?

View 1 RepliesI created a Flash program that utilizes audio and text. The audio is located in an external folder and is loaded using .loadSound(). The text is located on the timeline and appears based on a certain time in the audio. I have a pre-loader that looks to ensure all of the external audio is loaded before the user can move onto the appropriate screen and the audio would play. This is using a combination of the .getBytesTotal and .getsBytesLoaded.
It works fine on Windows 7 but doesn't seem to be working one particular user's Windows XP on IE 7 (So it's not happen on all Windows XP). On a particular user's computer, the text is slow to load while the sounds loads pretty quickly leaving the text out of sync. After a few screens, the text will catch up with the audio.

In my AIR app, when the virtual keyboard shows up the screen height shrinks. The problem I am having is after the virtual keyboard hides, the screen size stays shrunk and you can see a big black gap under the bottom of the app. The only way to adjust it is to rotate to landscape then back to portrait.
This seems to be a glitch with the virtual keyboard and programmers shouldn't be responsible for handling the screen size after it hides.
I'm trying to write a only touchscreen kiosk application using flex swf(not Adobe air). Is there a way to include an on-screen keyboard(a virtual keyboard is automatically displayed) for all form items in the application for every view state wherever there is a form/textfield etc element. This is quite similar to android/ios apps where the OS pops up a keyboard wherever required for such controls?

But nobody publish the code for this. I'm using the regular onKeyDown function in AS2 and this is not working. Does someone know if we can have this limited keyboard access in AS2?

Adobe Flash Player 10 Whether or not you want to make a game or a video player with keyboard shortcuts, the restriction of keyboard support in fullScreen has been an annoyance to a lot of developers. The restriction was placed there because of heightened possibilities of malicious attacks while in fullScreen mode such as password phishing.In Flash Player 10 we are easing this restriction to allow non-printing keys to be used while in fullScreen. Non-printing keys are arrows, space, shift, tab and similar keys that can�t be used to provide private information. These keys are very important however to let users do many types of selection and gameplay inputs.
When using a notebook and I have remarked that I cannot enter numerical character with shift + a letter to enter number.Is this a bug in flash ? How to circumvent this ?
