ActionScript 2.0 :: Buttons Inside Movieclip Dont Work?

I'm fairly new to actionscript and could use some help. I'm using Flash CS3, AS 1/2.I have made a musicplayer that is inside a movieclip, but when i pull the movieclip onto the stage the buttons inside the movieclip stop working.Inside the Movieclip:I have the music start on frame 1 and then gotoAndPlay at frame 3.Frame 3 has a stop();, a button that stops the music and gotoAndPlay "play".Frame 2 has a stop();, a button that plays the music and gotoAndPlay "stop".it all works fine on its own, but as soon as i stick it on the stage it stops working.Labels have been set up fine, it works when i use 'Test Scene'. I've hardcoded all the buttons to work on the timeline frames and not on the buttons.[code]

okay so what i cant figure out is...(still earning as3)i have these 2 buttons that are nested inside of movie clip........i havent added any code to em yet or nothing....ALL I LITERALLY did was, i have MC-a and went inside it, created 2 button symbols, and tested movie just to see how it'd look but when i rolled over the buttons they didnt work. they dont have roll over/out/press/hit states at all...it acts like its a regular graphic.i took the same buttons, copy/cut/paste on the main stage and work just fine.

Im using Flash 8 to make a meny for my webiste. When you point whit the mouse on the meny it will scroll down, and if you take it outside it will scroll back. But im facing a problem When i try to put buttons or linked text into the movieclip, they just wont work... Anyone know what i have done wrong?Here you can download the movieclipHeres the code.

Im very new to flash and a colleague provided me with perfectly functioning swf presentation. I opened it with flash to make some minor mods and now when i save the pause/play buttons he had put on the presentation no longer work no longer work.

I am editing an existing application that has three sets of wheels that spin. inside each each wheel are buttons that lead to a second movie layer.this second movie layer is on rollover and on release to show information.after wheel has spun twice the button actions inside the wheel still work but they are the wrong actions for each button symbol..........
prior to the wheel spinning it makes a calculation in a form.would i use movieclips as button symbols? ..

I'm making a flash CS4 presentation and I just made a navbar movieclip (grey rectangle) and put 6 buttons on each layer inside of it. I put this movieclip (navbar) on the main movie timeline in a layer. I keep getting this error (1120 access of undefined property) and the buttons simply don't respond to the main timeline. It used to work fine when the buttons were on the main timeline. Should I make a parent child reference ?
For example, this code for the pause button won't work:
pause_btn.addEventListener (MouseEvent.CLICK, stopButtonClick);

I've been using this site for a while as I'm taking flash lessons in my college and right now I am building a portfolio website and am in need of help, so I've decided to come to you for some light. My problem is in the portfolio I'm creating in AS2 I have the photo and video galleries in form of a click'n'drag movie clip that slides sideways. So far, so good. However, when I add buttons to my mc (and that includes the ones in all my video players as well), they don't work at all. I think it has something to do with the function I'm using. Is there any solution for allowing buttons to be clickable? This is the code I'm using directly in the mc:

How do you get buttons to work correctly inside the Movieclip? When i click on my buttons they show what is supposed to be shown for a split second then goes to the nested frame 1. my website is: [URL] If you go to the Interest button, you'll see what i mean. the clip loads up fine but when u click on the Adobe cd it won't work correctly. The images flash on screen then disappear.

here is my fla file... Basically I have a rollover buttons inside a movieclip and my action script in the first frame of the scene is the following

b1_01 is the instance of the button inside designer_mc movieclip~ however I ealized that buttons won't work in movieclip and i just don't know what's other solution
how to get this fixed~ i m so stuck and I have wasted my past 2 days trying to figure this out and still no result...

Ive got this script. when u press a button u can create a movie clip called man. when u press another button u can create one called enemy. thay both create at different sides of the seane and thay walk past each other.but when thay touch each other thay should go to frames inside them. ect Attack,Die.

I have my main SWF into which I want to load an external swf...When I've tried using the following code...
var light:Loader = new Loader();
light.load(new URLRequest("light.swf"));
addChildAt(light, 1);
The SWF loads but the buttons inside it do not show. How do I load the swf and have the buttons inside it work? Anything inside of the external swf that is a movie clip works, but I'd like to be able to keep the up/down/over and hit features of the button.

I'm doing a map using AS3, and the mouse controls pan movements. It all works fine, but I can't get the buttons (that will be hotspots) to work inside a movie clip (I also need to make the buttons work inside a movieclip). When I test scene, it all works fine, but the buttons don't work in "test movie" option. The problem isn't any code in AS3, because my movie doesn't even recognize the buttons inside the movie clip.
The problem is, the buttons are not responding at all to the mouse, in "test movie". No rollover color, no hand cursor, nothing.

I made a movie that has sound in it being activated and deactivated by using the sound object and linkage id's and it works like a champ.Now i take that movie and load it into another movie like so actNav_mc.loadMovie("test.swf");Now the sounds dont play or work.So just for fun i brought the sound files into the library of my _parent movie and the sounds worked. Since i must have the sounds in the loaded file this is not a viable option. I then tried using the import linkage on an empty mc in the parent movie and it worked but i could shut the sound off.I spent all day on this and as i was typing this thread i found a fix..

I have made some buttons that call in external swf files and these work perfectly on my own machine when tested in various browsers. My problem is when i upload to the server and then test in the browser, the buttons don't work anymore

I have a 'dropdown' menu (that actually goes up...) with 4 buttons inside of it. The menu's bg is just a movieclip containing the buttons. The problem is, when you mouse over a button the dropdown menu retracts. How do I get flash to consider the buttons to be part of the background, so it doesn't think you're mousing out when you try to hover over the buttons?Heres a link to the FLA and some of the code. I'm creating a menu bar that is a movieclip and inside the movieclip consists of the buttons.Now the menu bar is twice as WIDE as what is visible on the stage.The only part you can see is the text 'menu' on a bar.Then when the mouse hits the bar, it flies across the screen to the otherside of the bar where the menu buttons are.Now the menu bar does its animation over 20 frames - the last frame being the frame where the menu buttons are now visible.
On the last frame i have the 'stop;' code
