I have a movie that loads multiple swf's... Some of these have buttons inside of movie clips, they don't work when the swf is loaded
View 1 RepliesI've got a scrolling thumbnail movie clip.Inside the movie clip are 5 buttons.I can't get the buttons to work.I know to put the actionscript(2.0) ON the button and not IN the button.The sripting is a simple on press gotoandplay frame# command.yet it won't work.Is there something specific I'm missing when putting buttons inside a movie clip?

i have a button inside of a movie clip, and when you click the button, it's supposed to go to another scene. i tried using the gotoAndPlay (scene, frame) option, but it didn't work for obvious reasons.
is there something i'm supposed to put infront of gotoAndPlay?
I am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.
View 1 Repliesokay so what i cant figure out is...(still earning as3)i have these 2 buttons that are nested inside of movie clip........i havent added any code to em yet or nothing....ALL I LITERALLY did was, i have MC-a and went inside it, created 2 button symbols, and tested movie just to see how it'd look but when i rolled over the buttons they didnt work. they dont have roll over/out/press/hit states at all...it acts like its a regular graphic.i took the same buttons, copy/cut/paste on the main stage and work just fine.

View 1 RepliesI have multiple movie clips on stage (all in separate layers, of course) as well as buttons on stage to play each movie clip. There are buttons inside each movie clip. The problem is that the buttons inside the top layered movie clip work, but the others in the movie clips below don't.

I have a problem stopping multiple clips. I have created a presentation using flash and I have many movie clips which have sub movie clips inside of them. Ok lets look at one movie clip in detail. Inside one _root movie there are multiple sub movies; each with a different movieclip labels (each movie clip is named with unique labels ie. north, south, east, west, and What I need to do is be able to STOP all these sub movie clips with one stop, and in turn PLAY these same movie clip with a second action.
The only way I know how to stop all these sub movie clips is to target each and every one individually.

I am using Flash CS4 with ActionScript 3 and I am fairly new at it. I am struggling with two things.
1. How can I start a movie clip while scrolling over a button? I know how to start a movie clip when a button is clicked.
2. How can I use multiple movie clips for seperate buttons?

I Have 3 Movies:MAIN.SWF, contains loading movie actions for Nav.swf and Home.swf.NAV.SWF, contains navagation menu loaded on Level 2 in Main HOME.SWF, contains slideshow for home page loaded on Level 1 in Main In NAV.SWF, there is a MOVIE CLIP "graphmc", which contains a BUTTON "graphicbtn", When this button is clicked, I'd like the HOME.SWF (which is loaded into Main.swf on Level 1) to fade out and unload, and load and fade in Graphics.SWF in place of it.

Based on my experience with other components and with loading content into movie clips, I expected that I would point my scroll pane to its content and be off and running, but that hasn't happened.

Currently, I am well able to load one movie into a movie "loader" clip, but thought maybe there is a way to load additional movie clips into that same "loader" clip, as i am starting to accumulate several different graphics that i need to have be inside movie clips so that i can make them change colors on the same frame when needed.

I have my flash document set up in the following way: On the main timeline I have my buttons that I want to play movie clips embedded inside a movie clip on the main timeline.However, when I click each different button, the current movie clip stops playing and then the movie clip corresponding to the button plays.
I want them all to be able to play at once. So for example you push button 1 and the alien plays, but half way through you could click button 2 and the alien clip would keep playing, but also the helicopter clip would begin to play as well.Here is the code I have so far:

I have a menu bar that has 2 Drop down menus. Each drop down is a separate movie clip, with 3 buttons inside that are separate movie clips. I have a class set to the buttons that are movie clips for a roll over effect. But when I mouse over it does not work. Also on the main time line I tried to add a like to a web page but it did not work. But I only have this problem with the movie clips that are inside the drop down movie clips.
Why is this? How do I add roll over actions and external links to movie clips that are inside of another movie clip? I really need some help this is a problem I have been having for about a month or more. I am still a AS3 newb and this is my first time using classes. The other classes I have work with everything else, Im just having trouble with the movie clips that are inside movie clips.

At step four, it says to
4- Inside another Movie Clip named "Limits" place "Pads" and "Wall". Pads' instance name should be "Pads" and Wall's instance named "Border". We put the Wall and Pads inside the same Movie Clip, to use it to know when the ball collided. And we couldn't put everything together because the ball behaves different if hits the Wall instead of the Pads.
How do I create this movie clip and put the other movie clips "inside it"? Also, if anyone can find out, where do I put this movie clip? Do i put it at the same spot as the wall?

i got a school flash project where i need to access the _y properties of many movie clips buttons that set with name like sel 1 sel2 sel 3 and so on the problem is i have 2 sets of those, one on the main timeline which i can access with "for" looped _root["sel"+i]._y and one which is inside another movieclip problem is i don't know how to access the later using for loop? this is the script that i used to access the _y on the _root.selx

I have my main SWF into which I want to load an external swf...When I've tried using the following code...

The SWF loads but the buttons inside it do not show. How do I load the swf and have the buttons inside it work? Anything inside of the external swf that is a movie clip works, but I'd like to be able to keep the up/down/over and hit features of the button.
I'm doing a map using AS3, and the mouse controls pan movements. It all works fine, but I can't get the buttons (that will be hotspots) to work inside a movie clip (I also need to make the buttons work inside a movieclip). When I test scene, it all works fine, but the buttons don't work in "test movie" option. The problem isn't any code in AS3, because my movie doesn't even recognize the buttons inside the movie clip.
The problem is, the buttons are not responding at all to the mouse, in "test movie". No rollover color, no hand cursor, nothing.
I have a movieclip that has several buttons inside it. When I use this code:

I just want a scrollpane with thumbnails. When you click on the thumbnails a larger version loads right above. Anyone know how to do this? I have been scouring the internet trying to find an answer with no luck.
View 3 RepliesI'm making a flash CS4 presentation and I just made a navbar movieclip (grey rectangle) and put 6 buttons on each layer inside of it. I put this movieclip (navbar) on the main movie timeline in a layer. I keep getting this error (1120 access of undefined property) and the buttons simply don't respond to the main timeline. It used to work fine when the buttons were on the main timeline. Should I make a parent child reference ?
