I've taken the "Keyboard Key Button" from the [Common Libraries > Buttons], copied the letter one several times on the stage, and am now trying to relabel the buttons so that they show the right letters via an Array.Here's what I have written thus far:

I've been looking at this for four days and not getting to a solution. I've got an xml file with patent data, and a .fla that needs to populate a dynamic array of buttons. I've got a trace statement that shows that the xml is loading, and the first button appears, so I know the linkage and naming are correct. But for some reason I don't understand the button labels don't populate with the xml data.

So far just testing how labels work, I have made a movieclip with labels in it. Then made a test button to try to trigger movement from label to label. Nothing works. The movie clip simply runs over and over again.I have tried some tutorials, but using their as, still does not work.

I'm familiar with creating custom components, but I've never tried to build one quite like this before...

The labels won't change after the button is created, so I'm not worried about the missing [Bindable] metadata.
I'm stuck right now, getting the following compiler error:
Multiple initializer values for default property, 'label', of type 'String'.
...for each of the 3 <s:Label> lines.
Based on this answer to a similar question, I tried adding label="" to my <s:Button> declaration, but that just adds another error.
getting 3 errors on this code. They all are 1119:Access of possibly undefined proper *whatever* through a reference with static type myBtn.The button is the library is called myBtn and it is linked to the myBtn class. I think the problem lies in the textbox label on the button. I am not sure how to access that label with actionscript 3.0 or how to get the label to display a unique label for each of the children.

From "street" you can enter another page labeled "underground" when you press a button. In "underground" there's a button "exitU_btn" that brings you back to "street".So far this wasn't a problem. I need a way to either assign button labels like the 4 text boxes below or make it so the textboxes do not interfere with clicking the button?

scene 1 have 8 labels:

inside serviceMenu i have 8 buttons
when i doubleclick serviceMenu it take me inside

1- 1 keyframe actions

I'm trying to do is use the "page up" button to navigate to different labels on the timeline. The problem is that the labels are in different scenes (for example label_5 is in Scene 3). So each time I go to a label outside the scene, I get an error message.

I've made a flash movie which will load four movie clips at runtime. Actually, the number of movie clips will depend upon number of "NODE" in XML file. Keeping XML file thing aside, I've tried hardcoded values; 4. Let me describe you the structure very well:
There is a main empty movie clip, instance name "mc_scroll" which will be only item on stage. In this movie clip, another movie clip whose identifier name is "blueMovie" will be loaded dynamically. Inside this "blueMovie" MC, there is a button instance name is "blueButton" and inside this button there is a "Dynamic Text" field instance name is "btn_text".
Phewww.. so long chain... inshort:
mc_scroll->blueMovie->blueButton->btn_text
Now, I can load 4 or any number of "blueMovie" inside "mc_scroll". But I also want to set the button text for each button inside each MC!! I'm sure you guys are getting what I want to do. But its not working. Below is the code:

how to assign the text dynamically which is inside a button and this button inside a MC which is created dynamically inside a main MC!
im trying to do it as dynamic as possible. I have a few buttons on the main interface, and the text for the buttons are loading from a txt file on the CD. What i want to do is have a variable in the txt file "y" or "n" so that if the button is not needed then i can hide it. I have got a dynamic text box on the root, to pick up the y or n and then what i want is if the text box says "y" then the button is visible if it says "n" then button is not. I am using anchor labels for a new site and it works good in firefox but in IE it is going though each anchor till it finds the correct one. You can see it going through the labels in the address bar and a clicking noise for each one, besides the fact its ugly it takes a while to go through them all. You can see it here -[URL]

I use scrollbar at the bottom of the timeline to go to different frames. This is slow if I have thousands of frames. I wonder if there is a similar interface like the Actions window for labels on timeline. I mean you can see all the scripts at left pane and be able to go there directly by clicking on anyone on the list. I would be nice if you can see all your labels in a menu and click to go there directly (I believe Director has that). Maybe I can put some dummy script in different label and then I can use Action window to travel to there.

I am trying to make up a website with a row of buttons across the top to appear in all the pages. I have a controling page names portfolio.fla and several other pages to link in with this one. I have placed a button in the library from the components tab in the windows tab. Then dragged out 5 buttons and have them all working properly and linking up to the other pages, but when I went to place labels on them found myself having problems. Clearly not a good day for me.

I have a flash file(attached) that contain with little movie. play two labels one after one. In attached flash file there is a button in frame 1. I want to play s1 label first when i click the button then it needs to play s2 label. I dont need to put any action script in frames. just want to put action script only on the button.

Right now, each time the button is pressed, it currently goes and plays the label "closemenohit". It is not reading the first part.

Created a text box and assigned an instance name of mainText... Created a button with an instance name of mainBtn and placed an instance of the mainText textfield inside... AS2 solution --> mainBtn.mainText.text = "Some New Text"; and it WORKS!!! AS3 solution --> dunno yet...one thing's for sure, the code above doesn't work...tried a bunch of things, none work... Tried adding root, this, stage, and none of them help...Always comes up with "Access of undefined property instanceName through a reference with static type flash.display:SimpleButton" I need to write several of these so, naming the textfield inside a button should be the most efficient way...right??? Other solutions provided involved some XML file solution...Don't even need that...Just need something simple that works.

The buttons work but once you've been past a label it won't go back to a previous label so it's just linear.

I would like an .fla which has been completely composed/coded and allows the playhead to randomly jump to frame labels in a timeline so that I can see the code in action. I have tried many, MANY, methods and have failed. With little hair left, I humbly come to you for your wisdom... Perhaps I should mention the first frame in my movie contains a loader mc/script.

I can't seem to wrap my head around what these errors are saying, but I'm sure there's a simple solution I'm missing. I think I just don't know how to define the frame label correctly.
I've got some symbols (clips) placed in the main scene (all in the same second frame). They are all the same (it only changes the label inside of them). In the first frame of every symbol is a stop. Then, in the second frame is where I have labelled and that�s where I want them to start (after playing all the frames they should activate another random label in another symbol and go to frame 1). I want to put in the main movie (frame 1) a randomlabel pointing inside the label of a symbol. The symbols would be at frame2 of the scene. After activating the first label the would activate each other until a timer stops.
