Mar 15, 2011I would like to create a custom Button component with three labels: left-, center-, and right-justified. I can't just use the label justification property, because I want to use all 3 labels at the same time.
I'm familiar with creating custom components, but I've never tried to build one quite like this before...
Here's what I have so far:

The labels won't change after the button is created, so I'm not worried about the missing [Bindable] metadata.
I'm stuck right now, getting the following compiler error:
Multiple initializer values for default property, 'label', of type 'String'.
...for each of the 3 <s:Label> lines.
Based on this answer to a similar question, I tried adding label="" to my <s:Button> declaration, but that just adds another error.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Getting Xml To Populate Button Labels?
Mar 4, 2009I've been looking at this for four days and not getting to a solution. I've got an xml file with patent data, and a .fla that needs to populate a dynamic array of buttons. I've got a trace statement that shows that the xml is loading, and the first button appears, so I know the linkage and naming are correct. But for some reason I don't understand the button labels don't populate with the xml data.

Dec 22, 2010Still a newbie, I am trying to understand how labels work with buttons. So eventually, I can create a rollover effect and have a button on a menu either glow or have an effect.
So far just testing how labels work, I have made a movieclip with labels in it. Then made a test button to try to trigger movement from label to label. Nothing works. The movie clip simply runs over and over again.I have tried some tutorials, but using their as, still does not work.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Button Labels Errors And Access?
Mar 14, 2011getting 3 errors on this code. They all are 1119:Access of possibly undefined proper *whatever* through a reference with static type myBtn.The button is the library is called myBtn and it is linked to the myBtn class. I think the problem lies in the textbox label on the button. I am not sure how to access that label with actionscript 3.0 or how to get the label to display a unique label for each of the children.

Jul 15, 2011I am trying to work something out, but I am not really good in scripting so I can't figure out how to write the code properly.The situation is a bit complex:I have one frame labeled "street". From "street" you can enter another page labeled "underground" when you press a button. In "underground" there's a button "exitU_btn" that brings you back to "street".So far this wasn't a problem. Now I have another page labeled "F2016" from which you can enter "underground",too, but this time when pressing "exitU_btn" I don't want it to return to "street" but return to "F2016".Means the button should know the label I am coming from and returning to this one.I started to write a bit code for that with if statements, but don't know how exaxtly to write it.

I need a way to either assign button labels like the 4 text boxes below or make it so the textboxes do not interfere with clicking the button?

Jun 25, 2011im completely lost on how to do a simple multiline label. The docs say that labels are best used as single lined elements, but that alludes to it being able to do multiline if necessary. Anyone have any clarification on the subject?

scene 1 have 8 labels:
serv1 - serv2 - serv3 - serv4 - serv5 - serv6 - serv7 - serv8
inside serviceMenu i have 8 buttons
when i doubleclick serviceMenu it take me inside
menuAll which have 3 layers
1- 1 keyframe actions
2-1 keyframe for the button

May 3, 2011I've been trying for a while to set the number of labels being shown with a datetimeaxis being used for the y-axis. Unfortunately, I'm not able to get the desired behaviour.I'd like to have the y-axis separated into days (i.e. a tick on the axis for each day). However, it is spacing them out one week at a time. I have tried setting labelUnits and minorTickUnits to "days" but no joy.

Flash :: Control Flex Application From Embedded Control?
Mar 21, 2010I have a flex application and have embedded a flash (SWF) file into it using <mx:SWFLoader>. There is an "Exit" button on the Flash file. I want to be able to handle the button click event on the flex application.
So when that button in the flash file is clicked, I want to perform an action in the parent flex application.
Flex :: Menu Control - Click A Button And A Menu Is Displayed. Click That Button A Second Time And Hide That Menu?
Jun 20, 2010Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.
How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

I would for the labels on the vertical axis to be clickable. So when a user clicks a label a click event fires and I can do something with it. I am not interested in clicking the bar itself (I know how to achieve that)
I tried adding an event listener to the CategoryAxis of type Mouse.Click but nothing gets fired.
Flex :: Labels Mysteriously Disappearing From A ComboBox In It
Apr 16, 2010Observe the Flex program below (I'm using Flex Builder 3 w/ 3.5 SDK). The second combobox is conditional on the first. If a 'first name' is chosen, then you are allowed to choose a 'last name'. If 'none' is chosen, then you are not allowed to choose a last name, but rather prompted to choose a first name.
To see the mysterious issue of the disappearing labels, run this program and choose a first name. Then choose a last name. All is well. Then choose 'none' in the first combobox. The prompt of the second combobox changes back, and the last names are removed. All is still well. Then try selecting a first and last name again. You will see that after choosing a first name, the last names do not appear, although the spaces for them do (and if you debug the program, the correct data appears in the dataprovider).[code]...
Flex :: Align Text In Spark Labels?
Aug 26, 2010I have 2 spark labels next to each other. They are in a basic layout and both have bottom set to 0. They have different font sizes (28 and 12).
Both fields only display numbers. I want the baseline of the numbers to line up.
At the moment they do not as there are no descenders and the descender area of the line is obviously a different height for the 2 different font sizes.

Apr 11, 2011I've got a simple app that is currently getting information form a database and just displaying the content into a datagrid.
Instead of having this information displayed in a datagrid, I'd like to display it in a couple of labels (first name, last name, phone, etc.), but I'm not really sure how to.
Currently on creationComplete I call my php query function - which looks like this.

Eventually my query will be modified and will only ever return 1 row from the database. So how do I get the results to display in labels instead of the datagrid?

Apparently, the font family I was using doesnt support a font style that is used in the renderer. Not sure what style attribute it is yet.

Flex :: Tabbar - Binding Tab Labels To Variables?
Dec 4, 2011I'm using a custom tabbar with the dataProvider being a viewstack and I'm trying to get the tab labels to update when data in the related container (in the viewstack) updates. The viewstack's containers are bound to bindable vars, so if a var changes, the data/labels/etc in the container updates, but the tab doesn't.Is there a way to bind the tab to the same bindable var or do i need to write event handlers (if so, what events)?
