I'm creating a Flash banner ad that has two buttons as part of a survey, "yes" and "no". I need to export the total number of Yes and No clicks to a separate html document that will display the results of the survey as they stand at that moment.
View 1 Repliesi am working on a survey form in MX-04 Pro. I have the main .swf file embedded in an HTML page. The document's width is longer than the viewable screen so the person taking the survey has to scroll down to answer the remaing questions and hit the "continue" button to proceed to the next page/frame in the movie. When the user hits the "continue" button the next frame in the movie appears but the HTML page is still scrolled to the bottom. Is there any ActionScript I can inclued in the frame or continue button to make the movie/survey appear at the top of the html page when the user hits the "continue" button?#2
Is it possible to make the items in a List component sort randmoly? or maybe alternate between "ASC" & "DESC" order? Furthermore, there would be an "Other" option included in my list but I would like that to remain at the bottom of the list while the other items in the list were sorted randomly?

View 2 RepliesIn most browsers, when you have one in focus and you type something, the combobox will try to find the value within its options and show the closest one. I was wondering what kind of algorithm is used for that.I don't think its Levenshtein or similar since it only works with the beginning of the string.I'm thinking that it works by keeping a buffer of what has been written, and tries to find a string starting with that... if it doesn't find anything, it clears the buffer, and searches a string beginning with the last character pressed.I already prototyped this, and it works quite ok, with one caveat... In HTML, when you repeatedly press the same key, it will rotate between all options starting with that character.
View 4 RepliesI was hoping i could get some assistance. I need to create a survey as an executable file and thought of doing this in flash. There are 4 pages. 1st would have basic info and allows the user to select one of three options.. which will then direct them to the next 3 pages respectively.. eg Option 1 would be page 2, option 2 page 3, option 4 page 4.
My question is can the flash file allow the user to input text data and retain it in the file, also upload an attachment. I suppose the best way i can descibe it would be to think of it along the lines of having a word document.. so if you pretend the word docucment is the "Survey software" file.. then when you open word it has questions and hyperlinks to other pages.. and you can also insert/embed other files into it.. Then when you save and close it, its just a word document which contains other files inside. Am i completely on the wring track of thinking to use Flash to do this?
I have created a survey with several multipule choice questions using radio buttons. I want the last page of the survey to display results to the user kind of like a Cosmo quiz.like "50% A." "25% B." "25% C." "0% D." I can't find any info on how to do this with Actionscript.

I've found quite a few pages that convert to lat long (if a little off) but nothing to convert to esri (which I believe is utm.)This is for use in python or JavaScript / actionscript etc - I'm not too worried about syntax more an understanding of the maths involved.
View 2 RepliesI have a movie that uses a couple audio files. When I run this as a swf, everything plays fine...Except at the end.I have a frame that says thankyou.play(). That is tied to a mediaDisplay component. When I put a trade for thankyou.onSoundComplete....Nothing happens.So with the Flash still working fine for the most part, I export the movie as a Quicktime movie. It plays the intro audio but never moves forward from there.The background noise is gone.

View 4 RepliesI'm having a really weird problem exporting a library asset (movieclip) to a swc file. This should be really simple to do... The strange thing is, if I do not include the outside code in my project, when I try to export the asset as a swc, it will give me errors, but it will also create the file with no problem. If I include the outside code and export the library asset as a swc, it compiles with no errors but it NEVER WRITES THE FILE! This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Has anyone else run into this problem and if so, how did you fix it? If I repeat the same process in windows I do not see the same issue, it creates the swc without any hesitation. Is there a weird setting in Mac OSX that I need to change maybe?

would go about setting up flash to display results returned by a SQL query one at a time.I can work out the query and PHP, but want I want to know is how to make flash take each one and animate it, including pausing and clearing the screen when full, then continuing on a 'new' screen. View 3 RepliesI am having trouble exporting my animations created in Flash CS5 (or Macromedia flash 5, or CS3) to .MOV files. I'm having these issues on different platforms (mac and pc) and different operating systems (XP and win 7) - I only get error messages and out of memory errors, even on the fastest computer I have with 4gig of RAM working on a 2mg Flash file. I just want to convert my Flash files to a format that can play on Youtube and standard DVD players. Also I've tried many converters (flash to video) - not all free (Moyea, Roxio, iWisoft, Winfx Video Converter, Amor, E.M. Magic, etc, etc) - nothing works. The main problems are either the sound is not synched, the playback is choppy, and the quality is awful. I think my only hope of getting a good video is starting with a good .MOV file exported from Flash. [URL]..

View 4 RepliesI'm working in Flash CS3 and until this point I've had no problems. I put together a test movie and after testing it, exported it as both a .swf and within an html file. Testing locally, the html works fine. However, when I put in the external URL that points to the same file, the .swf fails to load. Changing the path to point to the .swf itself, I'm told the page cannot be found. Did I miss something in the exporting process? No other movie published so far from this configuration has behaved in this manner.

In my .swf there is allready a .flv with sound and some more timeline animation I added. I allready tried to import the .swf to After Effects and re-export it from there to .flv but importing the .swf results into an empty timeline with 0 frames.

Using Flash CS3, having issues getting flash to send quiz results to a LMS. Using the Flash quiz templates, exporting with SCORM 1.2 compliance. The LMS is able to track times attempted and if the lesson was complete or not, however the quiz results don't reach the LMS.
I think this can be resolved in the actionscript or the javascript that gets exported with the HTML file Apparently you can control the javascript functions with FScommands from actionscript Something like fscommand ("LMSSetValue","cmi.core.score.raw" + "," + integer); I don't know where in the actionscript this should be triggered from.
Basically an array if fed to callThumbs() which iterates through it and compares the entries with preloaded XML _my_images. If match is found, it's sent to processXML which loads all relevant info and loads a .jpg thumbnail. All this is then fed to createCell which creates a specific cell with position values depending on x_counter and y_counter values (4 cells in a row) and adds the cell into a container _container_mc.
The Problem: This all works fine and looks fine, the problem is that the cells within the container do not display in descending order. They are in random order, probably because some of the .jpg's takes longer to load etc. How do I easily organise the cells within the container in descending order by the XML .id value? Or how do I tell Flash to wait till the thumbnail and data is loaded and the cell created and added?

I've got a suite of unit tests for my project (pure AS3), and they all work brilliantly outputting standard JUnit XML to the trace output window. However, when I tried to get my test suite running on our continuous integration server I ran up against a wall.Flash is a sandboxed beast, isolated from the file system. I can't see an intuitive way to get this generated JUnit XML in to our CI software so it can be verified as passing.
I've taken a shot at implementing the approach shown in Continuous Integration with Flex,but it relies on reading trace output logged to flashlog.txt that is prone to failure on many fronts (debug player must be installed, flashlog.txt must be created, mm.cfg file must be configured properly). Also, I find that some of the time it fails to find the results in the flashlog and the build fails despite all the tests passing. This could be because I have too many tests and some are being pushed out of the log file.

View 0 RepliesWithout too many details, I have a flash project that has a MOUSE_OVER function that works perfectly when I test the movie within flash and even when I play the swf in flash player. However, when open it in firefox, my mouse over doesn't work properly. Instead of it execution the function on mouse over it executes on mouse down.
Are there any known differences between a web browser and flash player that may cause this to happen.
