ActionScript 2.0 :: Passing Arguments Into A Function Member Of An Array?

I want to have an array, where each value is a function, where each function also has a set of arguments.

What is the correct syntax for setting a value of an array as a function?

Lastly, how do I pass arguments into the array's value?

Code:
var funcA = new Function(a:Number, b:Number){return a + b};
var funcB = new Function(a:Number, b:Number){return a - b};
var funcC = new Function(a:Number, b:Number){return a * b};

Actionscript 3 :: Recasting Member Of A Library Class To New Type In Extended Class?

Oct 14, 2010

I created an flv video player using Flash Builder 4. This "BasicVideoPlayer" project is compiled into a SWC that will be eventually be used to create other video players that extend the functionality. One of the features is a view that appears when the video has finished playing that displays a "Play Again" button. This "Play Again" view has its own class, "BasicPlayAgain", that accepts a graphic asset that is exported from a .fla file that contains all of the graphic/UI assets.

In my new project, "EnhancedVideoPlayer", I'm using the BasicVideoPlayer SWC as a library to create a new video player that will add more functionality to the "Play Again" view; specifically it will add more buttons to that view.The EnhancedVideoPlayer uses a default class that extends the BasicVideoPlayer class. The BasicVideoPlayer class has a member called "playAgainScreen" whose type is BasicPlayAgain. The EnhancedVideoPlayer needs to override the playAgain member and recast it as EnhancedPlayAgain so it can control the new buttons properly.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Accessing Properties Of A Member Of A Class From Within The Class?

Jun 9, 2011

I have a class, call it MyClass, and there are several variables that I need to be able to access each instance of from within the class.So for instance, I need the object myObject1, a member of MyClass, to store the variable myNumber.From the main timeline, if I trace myObject1.myNumber, I get whatever number I've stored.

However, I need to check the numbers against another parameter, so I need to be able to test if myObject.myNumber == myOtherNumber. But from within the class, if I trace this.myNumber or myNumber I get null.What is the proper syntax for accessing a variable within a class?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Binding Scene Instance Name To Class Member?

Nov 28, 2009

I know that one can give a symbol already placed in the scene and instance name and be able to manipulate that object programatically through ActionScript in Frame actions. What I want to do instead, is bind that instance name to a class member so I can use it inside a class file and and eliminate the need for frame scripting.

I am new at this and I'm trying really hard to figure out what the ideal workflow is. I would like to use a fully OOP approach at developing my applications, however I like to use the graphical interface to position assets on the scene because I find it easier than positioning assets programatically. So the solution I am looking for is binding assets to class members. If such a workflow is not possible, what's the best approach in dealing with assets in a fully OOP design?

Actionscript 3 :: Why Is Static Class Member Variable Not The Same When Accessed From Different Parts Of App

Apr 5, 2010

I have an actionscript class with a static member variable defined.

public class A

When I try to access it from different parts in my code I don't get the same value in each spot.

I am accessing the variable in different modules that are loaded, so they are all in their own separate .swf file.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Dispatched By The Member Of An Object - Access The Object Containing That Member?

Jun 22, 2010

I'm trying to set up a menu. Because this menu can have a varying number of entries, I'm generating it instead of hard-coding it. The Menu object contains an Array of MenuEntry objects, and each MenuEntry has a framework.Button object which contains the text and box that actually gets drawn to the screen. I can add a MouseEvent.Click event to the Button, but not the MenuEntry. If I do it that way, though, I'm unable to access the data in the MenuEntry object that contains the button, so I don't know which MenuEntry was clicked.

The only solution I can think of involves checking the mouse position against the position of each MenuEntry, depending on the number of Menu Entries. This does not seem like the right way to do it, though, as it is not scalable. I tried having the MenuEntry class extend the Button class, so theoretically, the MenuEntry itself could dispatch mouse click events, but that didn't work.

Flex :: Unable To Bind The SelectedIndex Of A DropDownList To The SelectedIndex Member Of A Bindable Class

Feb 8, 2012

I am unable to bind the selectedIndex public property of a spark DropDownList to it's original source in the view's presentation model.

For the purposes of replicating this issue with as few lines as possible I have two views, and one presentation model. The code follows.

Main.mxml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"

[code]...

Debugging the application I find that selectedIndex in the presentation model always remains at the default value assigned regardless of which item I selected from the DropDownList. For the sample code above this is -1.How can I bind the selectedIndex in the presentation model such that it is updated appropriately when the selected item DropDownList changes?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing Data From Document Class To Base Class?

Mar 1, 2011

I created a movieclip with a star. Then, I creates a document class and I named it as Main.as.

In that document class I wrote:
package
{
import flash.display.*;
public class Main extends MovieClip

[Code]....

I´m not posting here all the code, but you can easily see that I´m using x_origin and y_origin variables to keep the original position of the movie clip. I will use them to move the star back to the original position.

The problem is that instead of being 20 and 30 respectively, tracing them I see that they are both ZERO. So when I drop the star, instead of going to x=20,y=30 it moves back to x=0 and y=0. I´ve to get the star position relative to stage, but I can´t find anyway!

ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing A Variable From The Document Class Into A Custom Class?

I'm trying to create a class which will create a tween for several different instances of an object. I am creating the instances in the Document Class. The trick is, I would like to specify how long each tween will take.

Here's what I have so far:

DOCUMENT CLASS

ActionScript Code:
package {
import flash.display.MovieClip;
import mcCloud;

[Code].....

As you can see, I have a variable "myTime" which syncs the timer and the tween. This causes to tween to repeat and the clouds to continually scroll across the stage. How can I determine the var myTime at the time I create each instance of the Movie Clip mcCloud?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Button OnPress Calls Another Button's OnPress?

Nov 5, 2007

[URL]

First, click on the Abaco island shape on the map. You'll see on rollOver there is a glow around the island. Now click on that island and the glow remains for the zoomed-in detailed view. When you return to map and zoom back out, the glow is removed.

Now, compare this with clicking on the island name "Abaco" from the list on the right, instead of clicking directly on the island from the map. It zooms in and shows the details fine, but the glow that should be there is not.

The reason this problem is very perplexing for me, is that the onPress action of the list button in the right column calls the onPress function of the map button. So, theoretically they should do the EXACT same thing when pushed. But clearly they don't.

Here is the code for the button from the list on the right panel:

Code:
listAbaco_mc.onRollOver = function() {
_root.map_mc.abaco_mc.button_btn.onRollOver();
};

[Code]....

There is more code, for example rollOver, rollOut, and Press actions for the other island buttons, but they are all of the exact same format as the Abaco island button and they all have the same problem.

So, to recap, the problem is that the list button in the right panel do not function properly onPress, even though they are calling the onPress function of the island buttons directly, and the island button onPress function works perfectly. Strangely, all but one little thing works. So it's obviously getting to the correct functions and going through the code as planned, yet that one part about the glow is being ignored or otherwise messed up.

Professional :: Passing URL From FLA To Class

Jul 24, 2010

I have a class that works with an external swf with play, pause and slider. Now that I have all that working, I'd like to be able to pass the URL of the external SWF to the class from the main fla AS. I managed to use a 'set' inside the class to retrieve the name, but it apparently doesn't trigger until after the external SWF gets loaded.

Code snippets follow:
CntlClass:
public var loader:Loader;
private var _urlName:String;
public function CntlClass() {
loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, movieLoaded);
loader.load(new URLRequest(_urlName));
public function set urlName(value:String):void {
_urlName = value;
}

Main FLA file - other than a controller (cntl_mc) containing a play button, a pause button, and a slider, the only thing in the FLA file is this code in the first frame:
cntl_mc.urlName = "extswf.swf";

ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing Class To Xml?

Oct 24, 2009

I am making a game project using tiles. I want to ask bout the xml.

I know how to load an xml data into the stage by using one class from library

However, rite now, I have 3 customer_mc with class for each: char1,char2,char3

And i have this xml data called customer_xml that contents the customer name,order and payment. So far i know how to call one class and do a for loop but i cant find a way to call three classes and put it into the for loop.

function init(xmlString:String):void {
customer_xml = new XML(xmlString);
for (var i:uint = 0; i<customer_xml.customer.length(); i++) {
var customer_mc:char1= new char1();

[Code].....

how can i put three customer mc into the for loop? Do I put it in an array?

Second, I don't want it to be put randomly on the stage but only on the right corner of the stage. Is that mean, I put a precise coordinate for the customers mc?

Actionscript 3 :: Passing Custom Class As Parameter To Custom Class Where Parameter Class Not Constructed?

Jun 16, 2011

I have a custom class being constructed from my main class. In the custom class it has another custom class that is passed in as a parameter. I would like to strictly type the parameter variable but when I do, 'the type is not a compile type constant etc'.This, I understand, is because the custom class used as a parameter has not yet been constructed.It all works when I use the variable type ( * ) to type the parameter.I suspect this is a design flaw, in that I am using an incorrect design pattern.It is actually hand-me-down code, having received a large project from someone else who is not entirely familiar with oop concepts and design patterns.

I have considered using a dummy constructor for the parametered class in my main class but the passed in class also takes a custom class (itself with a parametered constructor). I am considering using ... (rest) so that the custom classes' parameters are optional.Is there any other way to control the order of construction of classes? Would the rest variables work?edit)in main.as within the constructor or another function

var parameter1:customclass2;
customclass1(parameter1);
in customclass1 constructor:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Passing Events Out Of A Class?

MY question is this: how do I receive this event outside of the class? For instance, I want to be able to create an instance of my class somewhere else, load a sound and attach an event listener to my custom class that listens for the event thrown by the sound. Understandably, I don't want to make the sound object a public variable.
