Dec 6, 2009I originally built this in Flash 8, then moved the files over to CS4. I have a list component where I've loaded song files through xml and everything is working great. How to make it play one of the 8 files randomly when it starts playing, instead of it always starting with a specified track (currently track one obviously). So each time a visitor comes to the site it is a different song.

Jan 27, 2009I have built an MP3 player using XML and this works fine. But I want this MP3 player to load a random song from the XML list everytime it runs.
I have this code:

But it produces the error -

Aug 19, 2009I have a list of mp3-songs, when song 1 is clicked it gets streamed, a stop-button appears, if this Btn is clicked, this Btn disappears as it should - but if user forgets to click for stopping sound and clicks song 2, stopBtn 1 remains and the new stopBtn 2 also appears. there should be only one stopBtn, the one next to the song is playing.
I would like to move the stopBtn and I have tried several approaches move; graphics.moveTo; if(stopButton !=null) {removeChild (stopButton)}; I packed the var stopButton:Sprite in the header and so on.

Flex :: Make A Custom Component Or Extend The List Component For A 2D Top Down View MAP ?
Nov 11, 2010I'm building a top view 2D map, that it's objects are stored on the server.The kind of objects are 10 and might be a photo, label, button, lists, mix of them or labels with tooltips.The component must request the "areas" that are missing on screen.An area is 1000x1000 px and is cached in flex.To move in the map, will be like in google maps (drag-and-drop).I should be able to have another list and move objects from one to another using drag-an-drop on objects. Ex.: I grab an objects from a list and I move it on this map, I release the mouse button and the item is placed there.Now the problem is: I build a custom component for this trying to emulate the item renderer for performance and recyclage, implement drag-and-drop on objects and request the areas that are missing?

I extend the List component from spark and I add some features as multiple kind of itemrenderers and use recycle on them. Of course it must be able to request the missing areas on the screen and cache it's data.Maybe create a custom layout is needed too.What I need is something that must be really fluid, so the lighter this component is, the better.
UPDATE: *There will be not any object over another.
*I will not use hitTest on bitmaps because all bitmaps are wrapped in another component,as they,for now are itemrenderers.
Anyway I already begin to do this using a class that extends the SkinnableDataContainer and a custom layout. Oct 18, 2009I made flash player and i used that tutorial: HERE. Everything is good, but when one song is ending, next song's start is delay about 1-2 sec. You can say that is nothing in flash mp3 player, but if each other song is one short speaker sentence(there are about 10 one by one) it may be nervous. how to delete that delay? I don't need to have xml playlist. Just i want to start one by one(all playlist is about 300-400 loop/songs/mp3 files) without delay.
Now I think there is no way to delete that delay(how i can do it), but i have another idea. I will make one big file from 10 or 20 of that smaller, but i need to have in my player one thing more. When user will press start button, song won't start at 00:00/xx:xx but in random place. You know what i mean ? It will not start at start but somewhere else, in random place(maybe 00:21/xx:xx or 02:47/xx:xx or 01:02/xx:xx).

I thought I could get the length from an ID3 tag, problem is ID3.TLEN returns undefined, though if I right click the track and show properties, the summary tab shows song duration, bitrate, etc... how I can retrieve the song length before the entire thing has been downloaded?

I believe it's because when it reads the data from my topics list, it reads topic1.xml instead of "topic1.xml" ( reads without the quotes).
