I'm having a horrible problem trying to mute the sound on an embed movie.I work on a flash banner, with an embed video.I would like the sound to be audible on rollOver, and off on rollOut, and have a link on it I tried putting a transparent movie clip on a layer above the video, and put in the AS, but nothing seems to get it done!How can i deal with that!Can my movie clip set the general movie sound to 0 or 100?

Is there a way to control the sound of an embedded flv in a flash movie? I haven't seen any tutorials on controlling the sound volume for an embedded video vs. netstream.

I have not been able to get the if/else statements to work for the button. Could someone tell me what is wrong with this script(below)? 1-4 are the tracks in my library and I have made the export linkage for all them.

How to import sound with AS? Cuz i have tried it and my sound just wount play. Can you explain me where my sound should be and what is the as code for importing cuz i use

and this SoundON from where i get it, i try to add linkage to the sound file but in CS4 i cant find the option;. I do it from the library, adding text into the linkage field but still my sound doesn't want to play?
I have been at this for about 19 hours straight! I am going to go to bed immediately after this post, but for crying out loud, I have NEVER had this problem before today! Before anyone reads ahead and says 'you have to attach your sound object to a completely separate mc to be able to control it independently from all other sound/root volumes.' see if the following code accomplishes just that:

The buttons are named "play_btn" and "stop_btn" respectively. When I export it or preview it, hitting the play button does not do anything.... I hear no sound. What could be up with this?
Is it okay to embed a sound in a symbol? I ask because I have an animated symbol, and have included a sound effect in the symbol's timeline, however when using that symbol from the main scene,the sound effect doesn't play. However if I put that sound effect on the main timeline, then it plays.Personally, for timing purposes I'd much rather use the sound effect within the symbol's timeline, but doesn't play for me.
Am I doing something incorrectly, or can't sound symbols be used from within a symbol?

Whenever I open the page I'll get a popup window with the above errors and once I click "continue" it will go ahead and play the video, but without the control skin. how to get the skin to show up?
I've been working on building a flash website, embedding it in html, and have one minor annoying feature that I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of... I've got it so that when the mouse hovers over scrollable content, the mousewheel can be used to scroll the text up and down - if the mouse is over other content in the embedded flash, it doesn't scroll that text section, just the browser window, which is perfect. The problem is that while the mousewheel is scrolling the proper text up and down, the browser is also affected, causing the whole page to bobble up and down as well (the network I'm building it on prevents scaling to fit multiple resolutions, so I'm stuck with fitting it to the resolution that most of our computers use and having other users deal with it being a little small or a little oversized). Is there some way to adjust the code so that when the scrollable text area picks up on the mouseover listen event to allow scrolling via mousewheel, it turns off the browser's scrolling, or am I just stuck with it?

View 1 RepliesI have a number of sound files hosted by a third-party.I would like to embed these on my site in some kind of player for streaming.However, I need to hide the source URLs of these files from my users.The point is to prevent users from discovering information about the third-party services we use, as some of this info is considered proprietary.There is obviously no way to do this in straight html. Most methods that I have seen of embedding audio would leave URLs easily discoverable by just viewing the page source.Is there a good way to keep this data hidden?
View 1 RepliesI can use flash ok to build stuff, but I usually just build a flash presentation with movieclips and buttons all contained in the one file. I have never had to put my creations onto cd-rom before. So now I am looking at a CD-rom and seeing how someone else has done it and I see that all the .swf files are separated, as will as sound and video. I thought the only reason to do this would be to be able to access and change for example and mp3. without having to open the flash file, but I am thinking there are other reasons?

1) I have a button and when I put cursor over it, it must start looping a sound. When I drag away, the sound must stop. I would be even cooler if it was possible to make the sound fade away when the mouse is rolled away. I have no problem creating another sound file that fades my current sound away.
2) I have a button which represents a knife, that should stab something (a panel) once pressed. So fist the knife must be clean. but after one or more presses, the blood should remain as a movie clip (as I want to animate the dripping blood)
3) once rolled over a button, the sound must start looping (as I wrote in 1.) AND the knife should slowly go backwards (MC). BUT when I roll mouse away, the sound fades away (as in 1. again) PLUS the knife should slowly move back to its place in stead of just jump from one place to another.
I have an application with a collection of sounds in the timeline. One sound file is recorded at a slightly lower volume than the others. I know I could change this in Audacity but I'm wondering whether I could attach a line of actionscript to its button to raise its volume slightly.I know its possible to do this when playing sounds with actionscript directly from the library, but that would be too big a departure from the development style used.

After browsing the documentation for the sound classes, it seems there is no way to control sound pitch with Actionscript 3.0. there is only the ability to control volume and pan. why is there no pitch property? it's the only sound property missing for the ability to create a full featured sound engine in Actionscript?
i hope i'm misinformed, but in case i'm not are there any alternatives / workarounds to control pitch in AS3?

This is what i have in the first frame of my main timeline

but when it starts to play the voice sound the volume jumps up to 100. I need the first sound to stay at 10 and the voice sound to be at 100.
I have three sounds I want to use in my preloader and main movie - I have the first (sound1) looping until the entire movie has loaded and it then starts another (sound2) (same as the first loop but it is just now playing more instruments) and it will play (sound2) once and then go on to (sound3) which is the main loop I want to play on my site - all of these sounds are sequencial to eachother so seamlessness is very important - is there a way to maximize the sound control with action script so everything plays seamless?

I have a scene with a voice over. I have split the voice over in to multiple sound files (mp3). The voice over plays correctly as long as you don't use the btns. When the forward btn is used the the file goes to the correct frame in the timeline but won't play the sound. Next issue, after pausing then using play the scene plays but without sound.
