ActionScript 2.0 :: Cursor Issue In Input Text Field With Embedded Fonts

Jul 9, 2009

I have some problem with textField with embedded fonts.I'm using font symbols created in library and they work very well with dynamic textfields.If I make an input textfield with these embedded fonts the following problem occurs:if i set the textfield's initial value (.text) to anything not equal to "" everything works fine. I can change the text in it.but if I set the input textfield's .text initially to an empty string, I can't get the cursor in the textfield, as it can't receive the focus.If I turn the texfield's embeddedfonts to false, everything works fine, but this way I can't use custom fonts and fields are looking awful.

Flex :: Embedded Fonts On Input Field?

Mar 13, 2011

I'm trying to embed a font using css on in my flex project via CSS:

@font-face {
src: url("/slimCurves.ttf");
fontFamily: SlimCurves;

[Code]....

When I try to apply the style to a text input field the input field looses its existing style, but doesn't seem to inherit the custom one.

<s:TextInput width="100%" fontSize="33" text="test" styleName="slimCurves"/>

If I apply the same style to a label, the label shows the text in the custom font as would be expected.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Making Cursor Appear In Input Text Field

Jun 8, 2011

When I Selection.setFocus(someTextField); the cursor doesn't start blinking in the text field. I've tried it in the flash IDE as well as in a HTML page, I can't seem to get the cursor to start blinking automatically in an input TextField.

I even did an onEnterFrame script to make sure the TextField was loaded and ready before I did the selection. I've also used Selection.setSelection(0,0) , etc. It just never shows up.

If I click the input TextField the cursor shows up as normal though. I just want it to automatically appear as this is a form and I want it to be clear to the user which textfield is currently selected when I change focus.

This is for a touchscreen project with an on-screen keyboard so the user has no mouse.

Even if the user types some letters and sees them appear in the input box properly the cursor STILL doesn't appear. Only when I click the input does the cursor appear.

Code:

Tried this code and it does not work:[code]Right now when i click on it, the text prompt text remains and the cursor shows one line below the prompt text.

ActionScript 1/2 :: Changing The Cursor Position In An Input Text Field And Removing Leading Numeric Zeros?

Sep 2, 2011

I have an input text field that is named in the properties box as 'numberOfKids'. When the program is executed, and a delete or backspace is pressed the input textfield goes blank and any calculations that use 'numberOfKids' shows NaN.I have trapped the NaN and undefined so that a numeric 0 shows up instead of a blank.

First problem: The cursor is to the left of the zero, so the first number inputted by the user is 10x larger than what they want.  0 becomes 10. How do I get the cursor to move to the right of the 0?

Second Problem: When I manually move the cursor to the right of the 0 and input a number, say 4, it shows up as 04. How do I delete the leading numeric zero in the input textfield?

Here's the code I am using:

calculateChildWeight = function () { if (isNaN(numberOfKids)) {  numberOfKids = 0; } if ((numberOfKids) == undefined) {  numberOfKids = 0; } if (numberOfKids>=0 && numberOfKids<=137) {  numberOfKids = numberOfKids; } else {  numberOfKids = 0; } if (isNaN(adjustedChildWeight)) {  adjustedChildWeight = 0; } if ((adjustedChildWeight)=undefined) {  adjustedChildWeight = 0; } adjustedChildWeight = Number(numberOfKids*(-100)); //numberOfKids.setSelection(numberOfKids.length, numberOfKids.length); //if (numberOfKids.length=2 && numberOfKids<10) {  // remove the first character or leading zero//  numberOfKids = numberOfKids;// }};

Flash :: Runtime Fonts Not Playing Nice With Fonts Embedded In Static Text?

Jul 11, 2010

I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Input Text Box To Dynamic Text Output - No Cursor, Can't Input?

Apr 28, 2011

the last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

Code:
//
function saveRecord(record:String, field:String, now:Object, score:Object):Void {

ActionScript 2.0 :: Selection.setFocus() Won't Put Flashing Cursor In Input Field

Jun 30, 2009

I want to initialize a Flash asset to have a flashing cursor in an empty input field. I tried each of the following two ways with no luck:

1. Selection.setFocus("input_txt");

2. Selection.setFocus(input_txt);

I tried these alone in an empty fla with only the input textfield input_txt on the stage.

The other threads on this exact problem are several years old. Has something changed in for CS3 that it doesn't work.

If I put text in the field, it will be highlighted but that is not what I need. Just a flashing cursor.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embedded Fonts & HTML Text?

Jun 19, 2009

I have a setup where an air app dynamically reads files, and throws the contents to an SWF inside of it. This SWF is a Flash 10 file and contains a textField where the contents are then displayed.I want to display the text as htmlTest so i can have it formatted. However, without embedding fonts, the htmlText is jagged and unprofessional.Though it is a pain to figure out, I am able to embed fonts and display regular dynamic textField text, however i have not been able to a) embed fonts and b) display htmlText without the text disappearing.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Embedded Fonts And Static Text?

Feb 14, 2007

If I import a font into my library for use with dynamic text fields, but my swf also contains a lot of static text, would I save much in the way of filesize by making all the static text dynamic too. Seems to me if I have imported the font, then publish the file and have flash convert all the static text to outlines, I'm going to be wasting filesize because all the font info is already contained in the swf.

IDE :: Dynamic HTML Text + Embedded Fonts?

Aug 16, 2004

I am trying to create a text box with actionscript, using an embedded font, and populating it with HTML text. It seems I can either use an embedded font, or HTML formatted text, but not both. To illustrate the problem, I have created a little test.

1. Create a font symbol in the library. Export it for actionscript as "_mainFont".

2. Create a dynamic text box on the stage using _mainFont and type some random text in it, including the use of bold and italics. Set the font size and colour to whatever you like. Name the instance "templateText".

3. On the first frame, type in these actions:

[Code]...

The textbox should display correctly, using the correct font, colour and all the HTML formatting. Unfortunately, I need to create text on the fly. So modify the actionscript to create a new text field instead of using the template text:

[Code]...

What happens? I get the right font. The < font color > tag works OK, I get the breaks and the underline, but I get no bold and no italics. Finally, let's make some use of the templateText box by using its formatting. Replace the line:

var textBoxFormat = new TextFormat(); with
var textBoxFormat = _root.templateText.getTextFormat();

Now the text is formatted with the right font, the same colour and size of the templateText box, but I've lost the HTML font colour and underline in addition to the bold and italics.If I take out the Embed Fonts, I get back bold and italics, but loose font colour and underline, as well as the wrong font.
