ActionScript 2.0 :: Delay/setInterval In "Easing Menu"

Jun 22, 2004

I have a question regarding the "Easing Menu"

I wan't to make use of both a interactive menu to move around the "slides" (as in the tutorial) and a automatic system that moves the "slides" with a delay with for example 10 seconds. I shall use this in a banner.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create A Delay Via SetTimer, SetInterval Or Delay?

Feb 23, 2009

I want to create a function based (not frame) delay of about 10 seconds to the function at the start of a flash movie, the code only needs to run once.I'm very new to actionscript and have been given links to SetInterval and SetTimer examples but they all seem to be very complex.The function is below. I believe it's possible to add the commandTimer(delay:Number, repeatCount:int = 0) how me to a simple example.

onClipEvent (enterFrame) {
framePos = int(_xmouse / 100 * _parent._totalframes);
if (framePos < 0) {

ActionScript 3.0 :: Horizontal Menu - Easing Movement When The Menu Is Dragged?

Jun 7, 2010

I have been working on a horizontal AS3 draggable menu for some time now and i am almost there with it. I am basically trying to replicate the menu at [url]...

So far i have got everything to work apart from the easing movement when the menu is dragged. The menu is quite simple, it is made up of a container mc.Inside this container there are 6 buttons which fill the dimensions of the container.The container itself is bigger than the stage and the user must click and drag the menu horizontally to see the rest of the menu.This is working. However, i am still after an easing effect when the menu is being dragged as it stops dead (because it is using the startDrag and stopDrag commands).how to implement an easing effect on the dragging of this menu i would be so grateful as i cannot manage to do it! (perhaps using tweenlite or tweenmax if its easier, or by using simple physics - I have attached a zip file that contains a compiled SWF and a CS4 FLA file.This is the AS3 i have so far:

Code:
stop();
import com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
import flash.events.MouseEvent;[code].........

ActionScript 2.0 :: Menu With Easing Pointer?

Nov 13, 2003

I know this easing thing has been gone over time and time again but I can't find a solution to my problem. Basically I have a menu of 3 items (mc instances on the stage). When you roll over an item I would like a pointer to ease to that item. The problem in my code is that the pointer mc eases up to a menu item mc but only works in an onClipEvent(enterFrame) event. If I place the code in an on(rollover) event within a menu item instance, the easing won't occur. In addition, I'm having problems with the scope of the menu. I would like this all to sit within a seperate mc but can't get any of the as to work if I do so. I'm not asking for the complete answer but some assistance in finding a solution . I'll post the .fla to clear up any confusion. By the way, I've already looked at the easing tutorials on kirupa but they didn't help with this problem.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Sliding Menu - Buttons Can Still Be Clicked While The Mc Is Easing Into Position?

Nov 25, 2003

I've created a sliding menu that has a left button and a right button. Each button slides a background movieclip to the left or right. The background mc eases into position when one of the buttons is clicked. Problem is that buttons can still be clicked while the mc is easing into position. This throws off my x coordinate positioning of the mc. I've tried disabling the buttons and enabling them again at a few different points in my code. I've also tried using a time delay to enable the buttons but my logic isn't working.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Collapse And Expand XML Menu Correctly With Easing Animation

May 1, 2004

I am currently working on an XML navigation component and am having problems making it collapse and expand correctly with easing animation. I have no problems when it goes two levels, but it messes up on the tertiary navigation, and I REALLY NEED three levels in this thing. Here are links to my swf files to demonstrate it working without animation, and broken with the animation. Also linked is my source file for anyone to look at and debug. If anyone can fix this, well, they'll have a component for a dynamic generating menu with as many levels of subsections through xml.

Otherwise, would anyone know where I could find a collapsible xml menu with three levels sub navigation (like a section with a subsection that has another subsection)? The other ones are only two! Anyways, here are the files:

ActionScript 2.0 :: [fmx] SetInterval - Let One Of The Menu's Fully Load Before Mousing Over The Next Item

Jun 16, 2003

[URL] In the movie linked above, the first two menu items trigger a menu to come out on the right side. Right now, it's the same menu (content wise), but the effect is still the same.

Here's my problem: If you let one of the menu's fully load before mousing over the next item, it works fine. However, if you mouse over the next link before the menu is fully loaded, you, the interval starts to snowball, and the menu's won't load fully any longer. The period the menu is down gets shorter and shorter the faster you go between the links.

I mentioned in my last thread, this is *not* the way I really want to handle the menu rolling up, becuase it's a hack/klooge - it's just not the best way. However, in light of me not knowing a better way to actually trigger the next menu once the first menu is rolled up, setting an interval seems to be the closest thing to what I want.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Menu - Delay In Displaying Items

Nov 20, 2005

I have a menu that works really well, however sometimes it is hard for users to get to the submenus because there is no delay between when they roll off the main menu item till the next one pops up. They currently can avoid this by rolling the mouse straight down, and then over, but that isn't necessarily intuitive. The main difference is I added some rollover effects and made it horizontal instead of vertical.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Mathematics And Easing - Make A Slowing-and-stop-easing Effect At Anytime The Command Will Arrive?

Jan 15, 2009

I've built a code to cyclically move a scene on the bottom of my stage; I've done this to make a slowing-and-stop-easing effect at anytime the command will arrive. The entire scene mc is _x long something like 6000 px. The whole code goes in this way:

1) importing on the stage (with attachMovie) a mc with this code inside:

onClipEvent(enterFrame) {
_parent._parent.fondo_mc._x -= countermovement;
if (_parent._parent.fondo_mc._x <= -5800) {[code].....

The code goes right, but I need to improve it.Now there is just a variable, I tought to use two vars to implement the whole code in a setInterval, but maybe it's unuseful, and actually I can't use it in the right way.

Second issue: actually when slowAndStop function is called the scene slow too fast, if I take it to 15 it slow better but the scene is running too fast...

The best would be that the scene slow down and stop following: A) a temporal variable (and I can try to implement it with setInterval, that for istance is a cycle)

B) an indipendent moving variable, so that on one side I set the speed, on the other side I set the slow-and-stop in a matter of time with countermovement.I also tried to use a second variable:

var counter:Number = 15;
// set the _x increment
var countermovement:Number = counter/2;

but the scene slow and goes backward a bit

Flex :: Menu Control - Click A Button And A Menu Is Displayed. Click That Button A Second Time And Hide That Menu?

Jun 20, 2010

Basically, I have a button and on click it displays a menu. I want to click that menu a second time and the menu closes. Currently, every time you click the button, the menu reopens. I pasted the Flex livedoc example below. If you click the button, the menu keeps reopening.Now, I rigged it up by setting a var to open and closed, so when clicking the button it does a check. However, if you click away from the screen, the HIDE event gets dispatched, and the menu closes. This messed up the open close var being set.

How could I make this Flex example below show the menu on button click, and then on a second button click, it closes the menu? Take into affect that if you click away from the menu, it closes it.Also, I played around with the MOUSE_DOWN_OUTSIDE event for the button and set the preventDefault, and the FlexMouseEvent event.cancelable is set to false.Changing to a PopUpMenuButton is not an option. I have to much skinning involved.Here is the Flex example:

<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
// Import the Menu control.
import mx.controls.Menu;

[code]....
