View 2 RepliesI have a very big map (pixeldata, not vector) and i want to create a viewer in flash that allows to view the map. The map is stored (in some way, to be decided) on a server. Probably the map will be stored in different resolutions on the server. The viewer should download the currently needed parts in the proper resolution at the current zoomlevel from the server to display it - similarily to google maps for example. Now - i already have some ideas on how to do this - but maybe there is already a framework available for exactly this or some good article describing it (client as well as server-vise).

View 7 RepliesI am trying to create a flash viewer, which will load various other flash movies. The viewer will be in the root directory, but the flash movies it will load are a few directories deep. Those movies access various sound clips that are in an audio directory relative to each swf I want to load.[code]It seems that when I load one of these movies into my viewer, the loaded movie is looking for the sounds in an audio folder in the root directory, and not relative to the swf I loaded. Is there a way to set this? I would rather not have to make the changes in each of my other movies to use the absolute path.[code]

I've found myself totally unable to find our how to do this. I mean, frankly, I don't even know what kind of file to start from the "New..." form at the beginning of Flash (CS 3.0, btw)!
I know how to create a Flash Player and link it to a single video. What I envision is that after the page comes up, with a single player component (initially empty), the user chooses a video from the drop-down list and that video starts playing in the player. View 2 RepliesI'm working on a mini-site and there is this opening page with some text bla bla and I need to give the viewer the 'don't show this again' option. I've discovered the components in Flash (yoo-hoo) and so far I've dragged a checkbox to the stage and only been able to change its label in the parameters in components inspector.
The opening page is in scene 1 and I just need the movie to play scene 2 frame 1 if the checkbox is clicked. How do I go about this? I'm very confused with event listeners etc. Could anyone give me a "for dummies" walk through?
I have a couple of questions with regards to video playback in Flash using AS 3. I'm not very good with flash coding so I've used the default video importer to import the video (file > import > import video). However I'm trying to put an event handler in that will detect when playback has completed and then take the viewer back to the main menu. I know it has something to do with NetStatusEvent but not sure how to connect it with the video.
Additionally when a viewer is watching a video, if they click a button below the video it takes them, say, back to the main menu. However the video continues to play in the background. I have put a 'video.pause();' on any button that takes the viewer away from the video, however the video is still loading in the background which isn't the ideal.
