View 2 RepliesI have a project where I use several SWFs and have the fonts outlines stored into a seperate SWF. Within the .fla file's I have checked the Import for runtime sharing with the various font definitions.In the library the linkage part shows for every font the Import: classnamTo get a correct idea how things look within the IDE, I've checked several character ranges within the font properties so the preview renders correctly.In Flash CS5 everything was working correctly; no font outline was included within the SWF. The size report also shows this.When I create the SWF with Flash CS5.5 font outlines of the selected ranges still get embedded into the SWF. The file size of the SWF is much larger and the font outline information shows up in the size report.
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to embed a font in my project by using url("font.ttf") rather than local("Font Name"), but it doesn't seem to pick it up. The font in question is called "Gotham Bold". When i view the details of the font, the font weight is regular, however when i use local("Gotham Bold") in the css i have to specify fontWeight: bold or else it wont pick it up. But when I use url("folderGotham-Bold.ttf"), and specify fontWeight: bold, it says that font weight is not found for that TTF. If i remove the fontweight, there's no errors, but the font is not applied to the text.
View 2 RepliesI'm having a problem in one of my fla files. I'm not sure if I changed the view or what I did exactly, but now all I have is colored outlines around where images are supposed to be. All of the text has turned different colors as well.

I want to keep my text editable in Flash (Classic text) and convert to outlines on publishing to swf so I don't have to worry about font embedding. Is it possible to do this? ie FLA keeps editable text but swf gets published out with outline text.
View 2 Replies all the layers are displayed as outlines.I can assure you that outline mode is NOT switced on "globally" or for each layer.I have tried toggling the icons on and off to see if that would reset it, but it did not.Every new document is doing this, even after relaunching the program and rebooting the OS, Preview and Published display correctly, it is only in the the working environment that things aren't right.None of the other workstations are doing this, just this one.I did an update, but the issue persisted.
The weirdest part about it is, when I gave him a file created on my laptop to see what would happen, everything was displayed normally,New layers added to this document also displayed normally. We have iMac workstatios running Snow Leopard if that makes a difference.This is Flash CS5 by the way.Other than doing a re-install,
When I open action script 2 or 3 in CS5, and draw a rectangle or any shape, I can only see outlines? The problem IS NOT the outlines button that is in the layers palet as I have changed this many times and it has mad no difference and the problem IS NOT because I have selected no fill or colour for the shape. BUT interestingly, when I have opened someone elses .fla work document, I can draw and fill shapes without a problem, which makes me wonder whether I am missing some basis setting when I start with my own new document ??
I have created a movie with a text input component and it is being included in a main movie by using html <img> tags. When I view the movie on a webserver and enter text the keyboard reverts from uk english to us english(i think) and the @ symbol mysteriously changes location to above the number 2.I'm not sure what to do about this cause when I run the movie on its own it works fine. I thought about embedding font outlines as a last resort. But I can't figure out how to embed font outlines in a component.

I swear I used to be able to see an outline of my clips even though the alpha is all the way down... now if my clip is alpha down there's no outline when i 'view as outlines' in the timeline. maybe i accidently changed a setting some where?
View 12 RepliesOne thing that seems particularly easy to do in the Flash IDE but difficult to do with code is to outline an organic shape. In the IDE you can just use the inkbucket tool to draw a stroke around something. Using nothing but code it seems much trickier. One method I've seen is to add a glow filter to the shape in question and just mess with the strength. But what if i want to only show the outline?What I'd like to do is to collect all of the points that make up the edge of the shape and then just connect the dots. I've actually gotten so far as to collect all of the points with a quick and dirty edge detection script that I wrote. So now I have a Vector of all the points that makeup my shape. How do I connect them in the proper sequence so it actually looks like the original object?[code]

View 1 RepliesWhen my site finishes loading, just before the animation begins, I see for a very short period of time (just a frame I guess) weird images, actually the outlines of some elements (screenshot 1) that are supposed to have alpha = 0 and visible = false, and a weird shape which I believe has something to do with a big gradient - also with alpha = 0 and visible = false (screenshot3) also the preloader is all messed up (screenshot2) .ve made a few changes and these weird images and outlines persist for a longer time.
View 1 RepliesI am using the draw() method of the BitmapData to encode a jpeg of part of the image. Now this should be easy enough given the object I want to draw to the bitmap is on the stage at design time so I know its location and dimetions exactly! Heres the code I have in place.

I know for a FACT that no part of the street clip I am drawing out is in negative space, and it's registration is (0,0). However, it cuts off A lot of the top of my image. y=5 in the above rectangle is where I need the top to be, but it cuts the top off of the image... even if I change it to 0, it has no effect.

I'm trying to do some lean blitting for an object that rotates by rotating it once at startup and capturing a BitmapData snapshot of each 5 degrees. The problem I'm having is that the draw() method of the BitmapData object is only picking up pixels in the MovieClip that are below and to the right of the registration point. If I change the MC so that the registration point is in the top left corner, I sometimes get what looks like most of the pixels, but the entire object rotates into and out of the frame, since it's rotating around the corner and not the center.

View 2 RepliesI have a strange issue where a dynamic text field will not show a bold version of a font (Gerstner BQ) if the regular version is on the stage in a static text field.Remove the static text field and the dynamic text field displays the bold font correctlyI have created a test FLA to reproduce this and by turning the layer with the static text field on and off (Publish settings -> Flash -> include hidden layers [unchecked]), the issue is quite clearhis issue is so big for me that I have had to abandon a project in CS5 and start again in CS4 just to work around this.
View 19 RepliesI'm using Flex 4. I'm trying to apply a embedded font in all Alert components of the application, to get the same style that all the app, of course. I code in my CSS file:

The font-family worked to all componentes, but not to the Alert component. In alert the text message and title got unvisible. If I change to other font-family it works correctly, just the embedded font doesn't work on Alert component. Anyone got this problem? Obs: The embedded font worked in all the app, just the Alert no.
In my application I'm using a custom embedded font for English (Helvetica New) which does not contain characters (glyphs) for chinese unicode range. In the application, wherver chinese characters are avaiable they are not displayed (suppressed) since they are missing in the custom embedded font. How can I make the flash player to use a fallback system font for the missing characters? And the fallback should be for the missing characters alone. For the Engligh characters it should use the embedded font.
View 1 RepliesI have generated an swf file that contains my embedded font of specified Unicode range, then I am loading this swf into my application. The code in the generated file for the font, automatically registers the font using the Font.registerFont method. I then load this swf file into my application, I never add it to the display list, I just created an instance of the file so that the code is executed to register the font.
Then I use the font name when I create embedded text fields and there you go it works... well it used to, I am not having any luck at the moment though. Sometimes it displays fine, other times it all appears cut off and I see a few pixels of the text I am trying to display.... Anyone else had a similar issue? Know what it might be? I have created a class below that I am using for the embedded font text, any issues people see with this?

Edit:I only get this error when I debug my Flex project in Flash Builder and see the output in the stand-alone Flash Player. When I open my SWF in the browser, everything works fine.
I bought a text scroller flash file and am now trying to tailor it to my needs.URL...It is composed of several movieclips which link to the an external text file. The external file starts off with this mytext= <font color="#000000" size="7">BACKGROUND</font> This file determines the size and color of the font but does not define the actual font itself, it also contains the content. There is a movieclip within the flash file where you can denote a device font or embed a font from the properties panel.Starting off I simply picked my font from the properties panel and used "anti-alias for animation". This seemed to work fine on the Flash preview and also once published online. However, once I used another computer to view my site the font changed and reverted to a default. This leads me to believe the font is linked to each computers font library. I am wondering if there is a way to override this and to link the font to a place on my server?I also tried to embed my font via the properties panel but it looks warped and unrecognizable, so thats out. Unless there is another way to embed fonts at stays true to the font? To add more fuel to the fire, the font I have to use is not html safe "Gotham" to be exact.URL,,,
