I want to keep my text editable in Flash (Classic text) and convert to outlines on publishing to swf so I don't have to worry about font embedding. Is it possible to do this? ie FLA keeps editable text but swf gets published out with outline text.

View 2 Replies all the layers are displayed as outlines.I can assure you that outline mode is NOT switced on "globally" or for each layer.I have tried toggling the icons on and off to see if that would reset it, but it did not.Every new document is doing this, even after relaunching the program and rebooting the OS, Preview and Published display correctly, it is only in the the working environment that things aren't right.None of the other workstations are doing this, just this one.I did an update, but the issue persisted.
The weirdest part about it is, when I gave him a file created on my laptop to see what would happen, everything was displayed normally,New layers added to this document also displayed normally. We have iMac workstatios running Snow Leopard if that makes a difference.This is Flash CS5 by the way.Other than doing a re-install,
Is there a setting that will allow me to see layers in outlines even though the alpha of the movieclip is set to 0%? I swear I used to be able to see an outline of my clips even though the alpha is all the way down... now if my clip is alpha down there's no outline when i 'view as outlines' in the timeline. maybe i accidently changed a setting some where?

View 3 RepliesI am unable to export any swiff files from CS5 Flash Pro that contain TLF text. If I apply one text box with TLF text on the stage, with no script on the timeline and nothing in the library, I receive the following compiler error:
MainTimeline, Line 39 1137: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 1.
MainTimeline, Line 42 1137: Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 7.
I do a lot of heavy actionscript coding, and rarely have anything on the timeline or stage in Flash, but this is a pretty big error for a new feature like the TLF engine. I think there is an issue with files missing, or flash not having the correct path to the classes used by the TLF text, but that is only a guess.
All I can get out of the Adobe documentation is that there is a SWC file that is supposed to be remotely accessed, downloaded, or embedded into the SWF on export.
I have been completely unable to use this feature of Flash since I purchased CS5. Additionally, when I tried to contact Adobe directly by phone, they referred me to these forums.
I have a project where I use several SWFs and have the fonts outlines stored into a seperate SWF. Within the .fla file's I have checked the Import for runtime sharing with the various font definitions.In the library the linkage part shows for every font the Import: classnamTo get a correct idea how things look within the IDE, I've checked several character ranges within the font properties so the preview renders correctly.In Flash CS5 everything was working correctly; no font outline was included within the SWF. The size report also shows this.When I create the SWF with Flash CS5.5 font outlines of the selected ranges still get embedded into the SWF. The file size of the SWF is much larger and the font outline information shows up in the size report.

This is especially frustrating because text forms the entire basis of my animation.Tried converting text to movie clips, no difference. The weird part is, I was able to test the thing early on with no problem-- text displayed and everything. I should add: I have used MULTIPLE fonts... and I think this was about when things started not working.I'm working on a deadline and if you know how to fix this, it would make a big difference to my life.

View 1 RepliesI made a banner for my company that I'd like to turn into a .gif file for our marketing strategies portion of our site. I am new to flash and can't seem to find the right export/publish settings to get the cleanest possible .gif file.
Would anyone mind looking at my attached .fla file to see where I might be going wrong. All of the images I imported into flash were edited in photoshop CS4 and saved as .png files. Is this the preferred method? When I export my animation it slows down and becomes all grainy. I am trying to create a .gif similar to the one I have also attached that was created in flash by a professional design firm. What would this guy (the guy that created the attached .gif file) have done differently?

When I go to export a flash file (command > enter) the swf either decides to play every 5th frame which I made 5 keyframes each at 20% more alpha each playing only the one at 100% alpha. It also brings in the line spacing so it is all mucked up. Everything is fine when I press enter to do timeline preview but not when I export swf does anyone have any idea why?

I have managed to get through them with various methods of recreating files, make new flas, and coping the library over, and the like.. (All of which is crap by the way, saving issues should NEVER be an issue)The answer from support seems to be "You have a corrupt asset". If this is the case then flash corrupted it. </RANT>The issue I'm having now however, is that I can no longer get it to export a new swc. I'm using the swc with a Pure AS3 project.I can save the xfl file just fine.I can compile it and it doesn't complain (though there isn't much to compile other than images and movieclips containing those images)I can re-open the file just fine.
I am not saving across a network, but directly to a local disk.As far as I know, I don't have odd characters in the clip names, but if there are its by mistake, and there is virtually no way of discovering which one it is.I am on the latest version of Flash Pro CS5 (11.0.2.489)So, to Support:e at adobe please look at this file and tell me what is not allowing it to build the swc? I have a large FLA file and is fails to export. 108 meg.I have attempted an export on Win and Mac.No errors. It just stops and removes the 2 kb swf file it opens at start of export.I set jvm,ini to 512 and then to1024.I embedded the fonts.

When I export the .mov, there are small sections of the vector animation that are missing or not showing up like missing puzzle pieces. I can't find anything about this. I've tried many different settings and they yield similar results.

I choose the correct file path and no skin.Then using the FLV playback components I made a custom play/pause button.When I test the movie it works beautifully.Not when I export (I have tried quicktime movie and SWF). I think I only get one frame (the first frame is empty, so not 100% sure).I have never worked with Flash, is there something I need to do in the timeline, like setting an in and out point or something?
View 8 RepliesI'm trying to make a new site (Green DNA) and wanted to use a combination of flash and html At the top, I wanted to have the navigation bar as flash, and below the html content (like for example a blog).I wanted to create some cool animations using After Effects, and import them into flash. I was planing to use around 250-300 frames of animation total (800x270 pixels) and keep it the whole .SWF file below 2MB
My first attempt was to export the video from AE as a .SWF but the result was a 10 MB file Then, I tried to export as a PNG or jpg animation sequence... I was able to reduced each frame to about 27.0kb but the result was around 6mb file Then, I tried saving the animation as a .mp4 file (around 2mb) but I couldn't figure out how to imported on flash (I was using adobe bridge, but It kept changing my 800x270 pixel video into something that I didn't approved ( I tried multiple settings)
I have a Flash movie that uses Actionscript 2.0 to trigger animations. The swf and flv files are separate though - the flv is called by the swf. There are cues in the flv that fire Actionscript events. How can I get the whole thing to export? I can convert the flv to an avi but I need the animations.

View 2 RepliesI am using cs5 flash to try to export a .fla file for a client to quicktime format. The end result being a DVD playable in dvd players. I have production premium and fcs, but the only option I have found is to open the file in flash professional cs5 and there is an export to qt option.
I export it, and it comes up with "Recording Flash Content" and displays a status bar. The status bar fills completely up and does not finish. Is there an issue I am not aware of?
I will state that there were missing fonts, but I just assume they were replaced and could it be an issue with that?
Edit: It is a 3 min clip so i just set it to end at 4 mins, and the status bar completed, but now the Compressing status bar does not even start to move or fill, and the application stops responding.
I'm working on a 3 minute animation that is 53.7 MB right now. I periodically export the file to swf to see how it looks as I'm working on it.
It got the point where it was taking around 30 seconds to export which I'm used to when my animations get longer. However, now it constantly gets stuck at 90% and I get the rainbow wheel cursor. I waited 30 minutes thinking it needed to catch up with itself and nothing changed. I always end up having to force quit out of Flash because it's not responding.
I've tried numerous things to try and get it to export such as quitting and restarting Flash, doing a complete shutdown and starting Flash, and copy pasting all my frames into a new Flash file and saving. No matter what it always stops at 90% and no longer responds.
When I export images from any fla,they are very slightly cropped on the right side and bottom. I don't want them to be cropped. Here's how I'm exporting: I paste the image in a blank fla, select Export, Export image, and choose the filename and location.
View 1 RepliesI'm having a problem in one of my fla files. I'm not sure if I changed the view or what I did exactly, but now all I have is colored outlines around where images are supposed to be. All of the text has turned different colors as well.

When I open action script 2 or 3 in CS5, and draw a rectangle or any shape, I can only see outlines? The problem IS NOT the outlines button that is in the layers palet as I have changed this many times and it has mad no difference and the problem IS NOT because I have selected no fill or colour for the shape. BUT interestingly, when I have opened someone elses .fla work document, I can draw and fill shapes without a problem, which makes me wonder whether I am missing some basis setting when I start with my own new document ??
I have created a movie with a text input component and it is being included in a main movie by using html <img> tags. When I view the movie on a webserver and enter text the keyboard reverts from uk english to us english(i think) and the @ symbol mysteriously changes location to above the number 2.I'm not sure what to do about this cause when I run the movie on its own it works fine. I thought about embedding font outlines as a last resort. But I can't figure out how to embed font outlines in a component.

View 3 RepliesWhen Trying to export a flash graphic out of Flash CS3 to.PNG format, Flash will either export a severely distorted image or it will just crash and shutdown. Admittedly, the graphic is pushing the max limits of allowable export (7900x7900px @ 300dpi). I've never had problems exporting to .PNG before, as I use that feature every day, but rarely at this scale. Could the size be affecting it's ability to export correctly? If not, what could be the issue?

In my fla file I have 7 scenes and the file size is about 193mb.
I am building an interactive website as my final project for my Webmastering class and need to know one thing. First I'll give you my setup. I have four Movie Clips in four seperate layers on my main timeline. I want to export one of those Movie Clips as an avi file. When I use export>movie, it exports the main timeline. I figured it would do that. So then I opened up the Movie Clip that I want to export and tried the same thing again. No luck. how to remedy this situation. I have five days to do this and have spent about four days of my life working on this if you add up all the hours that I have spent working on this.
