View 9 Repliesget a border onRollOver in my thumbnails gallery. I've tried the photo and thumbnails gallery and played with stringy's files to accomplish this but still haven't been able to get it to work.
View 14 RepliesI've got a website with three links to three different thumbnail galleries. When I click the link to a gallery that has a lesser number of thumbnails, it fills the difference in numbers in with thumbnails from the previous gallery.
View 1 RepliesI am building a website with an image gallery using XML to load thumbnails and images.
Firstly, I was going to try to make the thumbnails act like buttons, so the mouse cursor would change to a little pointing finger like it does in buttonmode but i could not get this to work.
Secondly, I also wanted the alpha properties of the other buttons to reduce to about 0.75 to highlight the selected thumnail that would stay at its full alpha value of 1. Yet again i could not get this to work either.Can you build this type of functionality into the imported xml data or am I just kidding myself here?
I currently have this button set to change the color of little dots on it to black onRollover. However, in the photoshop button sent by the client, the dots look much better. How do i use actionscript to swap one movie clip for another in a smooth fade, like it's currently being told now?
clicker.onRollOver = function() {
this.look.dotarrow.colorTo(000000, 10);
this.look.dotarrow._alpha = 80;

I have a xml gallery at the moment which loads in thumbnails and displays the larger images when clicked. What I am having trouble with is that some of the thumbnails have their own multiple images (more than 1 image for that thumbnail). I want to have a numbered menu 1,2,3,4 and when I click on the thumbnail depending how many sub photos there are for that one thumbnail I want to display an that image. And just to be dificult I also am displaying the larger images in another swf on the same page using local connection.
View 1 RepliesI am making a photo gallery with thumbnails and when the mouse rolls over them, they increase in size. Problem: when they increase, they do not cover the other thumbnails completely, since it is only an _xscale percentage increase and not a new movie clip. So you can see all the other thumbnails over the increased photo size. It is a problem of swapping depths I'm sure--but do I have to take off all the thumbnails from the main level and load them dynamically onto different levels in order to be able to swap depths?

View 4 RepliesI'm using Flash MX 2004 and actionscript 2.0 and have been working with the xml and adding thumbnails to the photo gallery tutorial in Kirupa. What I'd like to do is only show the thumnails onRollOver and then have them go to open a new page outside of the flash site onRelease. So far I found one solution for the onRollOver but I'm not sure it's the best one:
Code:
clip.onRollOver = function() {
this._alpha = 100;
};
clip.onRollOut = function() {
this._alpha = 0;
};
This works great but with one big hitch. It loads all the thumbnails first and then once I run over all of them it hides and shows them onRollOver and onRollOut. Is there a way to hide them when the page first loads and then only start showing them onRollOver? Is there a way to create a mask hiding everything until onRollOver or possibly a setting for the initial mc.borderFill that would create that effect? Or would it be better to try to figure out how to load them onRollOver. The other part is the link to another site onRelease. I have the links setup in my xml but not sure how to set up a geturl onRelease with _blank to read into the actionscript. I'm very new to working with xml and actionscript.
I'm working on a gallery with slider control that must display several thousand images.
1) The images must load dynamically just before they appear on stage and remove images / listeners as they leave the stage.
2) Have the images slide left / right with the slider.
best ways to dynamically load the images? I considered adding placeholder mcs on the stage, performing a check to see if the mc was within bounds and then loading it, but the player will definitely chug with several thousand mcs on stage.
i m using flash on a module of Joomla to display images, i embed flash player code into javascript , it fetch images from an XML files wher images are predefined and it works fine, now i have a problem that i m collecting images from database, means images are dynamically, so i m unable to fetch that images an display on flash, i just want to knoe how to add dynamic image array into flash. do i need to create xml??

Below is the code for dynamic image gallery from XML.
We have an alpha effect to the image animation when the image is loading. The affect is working fine (fade in).
But, when the next image is loading, we want fade out alpha affect to the current image before the next image loads.
delay = 6000;
//-----------------------
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {

Im a noob at flash and am stuck making a photo sideshow application. I would like to be able to point the flash file at a folder of images, which are then all put into the slideshow and played through.
View 1 Replieshow i would deactivate a carousel gallery until rollOver? reason being it doesnt look to good when the page loads with something spinning real fast.is it possible
View 5 RepliesI want to swap images using actionscript. I've got some thumbnails and the main big image will change depending on the thumbnail clicked. (it's a little complicated than that but that's what I'm trying to achieve in a nutshell!) [code]...
View 0 RepliesI am looking to create an area on my homepage that swaps images every 5 seconds and also has a play/pause and next feature for the view to choose if they want to click through or pause on an image. I am looking to create swaping images just like the following link under 'Top Stories'I am using Flash CS4.
View 2 RepliesI'm doing this: flashexplained.com/actionscript/making-the-ultimate-dynamic-image-gallery-in-flash-8/
tutorial but I want all the thumbnails behind the full-sized image to be hidden when one of the thumbnails is clicked to show the full-sized image and I want them to reappear when the full-sized image is clicked to make it disappear. I can't figure out what I have to add to the given actionscript code to do so.
I have downloaded a dynamic gallery from flashkit. I have tried to modify but cant. What i need to do is to get the thumbnails to appear 3 in a row, then the next one i loaded in a row under. When say 2 rows are loaded the scroller appears. In the gallery alla pics are loaded in one row.
View 1 RepliesThis is question is a take off of my post in the Flash MX forum regarding creating thumbnails. I'm trying to create thumbnails for a pic gallery and would like to have an over-button state that will make my little thumbnail increase in size a little to indicate that this is the picture the viewer is going to view. I don't know how to go about making this button and I'm trying to figure out if there is a way through action script to do this. This way I don't have to make the over state a movie and increase the size manually...
View 5 Replieshow to use thumbnails to navigate to a specific photo within a series. The slideshow is set up to display photos from an XML file (starting with the first photo) and then you can click forward and back in the series. But I need to navigate via a thumbnail to any photo in the series and then play forward and back from there.
Action script:
//photogallery
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {[code].....
I am having a little trouble with some code:
Code:
xmlData = new XML();
xmlData.ignoreWhite = true;
xmlData.onLoad = loadXML;
[Code]....
The problem I think is on the bolded part. If I replace ref["thumb"+i] for say thumb0, it loads the first thumbnail into the first movieclip. I have on the stage ten movieclips with instance names of thumb0. thumb1, thumb2, etc. What I would like to do is to load a thumbnail in each movieclip without having to write the bolded line ten times.
I was adding the thumbnail gallery to my website, but the rollover to scroll through the thumbnails must is offset somewhere. I would like to just add left and right buttons to scroll if possible.http:[url]......
View 1 Repliesthis is the main script that I'm using in my gallery :but I want to put description to every thumbnail, not only to show with the big picture. Like thumbnail [0] and at the bottom edge description [0], thumbnail [1] and at the bottom edge description [1], and etc.
View 4 RepliesI am following the XML/Flash Photo Gallery with Thumbnails [URL] Everything works great except the thumbnails. The first few thumbnails (the ones originally visible) are fine, but then the rest are all smashed up on top of one another. Is this a problem with my code? The pictures aren't all exactly the same width, so that might be the problem.
View 1 RepliesI followed tutorial [URL] on making a gallery with thumbnails. However, each thumbnail has to be of same width....if not the order of the thumbs gets mixed up. I've been trying to alter the thumbnails_fn(k) function, or more precisely this line:
target_mc._x = hit_left._x+(target_mc._width+5)*k;
I have it set up to load multiple XML files, but, when you select a new book/xml, i want it the thumbnails to refresh starting with thumbnail #1, instead of wherever it left off in the arraythis obviously has something to do with the variable k, but i am having a lot of trouble figuring out where to fix this at.
// Buttons to call each Gallery and reload data
bookone_btn.onRelease = function() {
xmlURL = "book1.xml"; // sets xml file
[code]......
I've been trying to add a preloader to my thumbnails, but it has been quite difficult (really considering the idea of buying an AS3 book).
Well, this is what I have First the code to call the Thumbs from the XML file.
function callThumbs():void {
for (var i:Number = 0; i < my_total; i++) {
var thumb_url = my_videos[i].@THUMB;
[Code].....
What I really need to know is how to add a MovieClip to container_mc and when the Thumb is loaded, remove this MovieClip from it?
I'm trying to use the flash gallery with thumbnails that was in one of the tutorials on this site. See here:
http:[url]....I wanted to make the flash player bigger, so I changed the doc size and then scaled the area mask that shows the image. I don't see why this would scale the image; it should just make the viewing window larger.But when I make an image the size I want it in photoshop, it is displaying the image far larger (blurry and cut off) than it is supposed to.Does it have to do with the action scripting, or the graphics in the document?
I create a photo gallery from xml using AS3 and it loads fine. I want to limit 5 thumbnails on stage. To see more you have to click the next button to see the next set of 5. Click prev button to see the previous 5.
View 5 RepliesI am using a slightly modified version of [URL]. The problem I am having is that my thumbs get arranged out of order because they aren't all the same width. The way the code from the tutorial works is it reads the width of the image onLoad, then multiplies it by the number image it is.
Code:
target_mc._x = 10 + (eval("thumbnail_mc.t" + k)._width + 5) * k;
This doesn't work, cuz some images are much thinner, so the thin images end up way too far left.
My method was to define a starting width (curWidth), then set the position of my thumb by using that value. once that is postioned, add the width of the image to curWidth plus a space. Reapeat for each image.
Code:
curWidth = 10;
function thumbnails_fn(k) {
thumbnail_mc.createEmptyMovieClip("t" + k, thumbnail_mc.getNextHighestDepth());
tlistener = new Object();
[Code].....
The problem with this is it puts the image out of order. In fact, it orders them based on the order they download. I understand why (cuz of onLoadInit) but I am not sure what to do about it.
