Im a noob at flash and am stuck making a photo sideshow application. I would like to be able to point the flash file at a folder of images, which are then all put into the slideshow and played through.

The site will have listings each with a photo.I'm trying to find a way around having the clients have to crop images to thumbnail and enlarged view size themselves. In other words the images would be displayed scaled to fit within a movie clip.

i have situation in which i have some library projects, say
"DataProcessors","Lib2"
, included in my lets say "MainProject" (a web project) placed on directory
"E:in-debugMainProject.swf"
, when i build the project it automatically place all the libs .swf in its "E:in-debug" folder, but when i debug or run the project it it gives loading error that
"E:DataProcessors.swf"
not found but i have those lib files on
"E:in-debugDataProcessors.swf"..
what could be the possible errors.
I've constructed a dynamic slideshow using ActionScript 2.0 and PHP/MySQL. The reason for this, aside from update purposes, is that the slideshow will eventually display over 200 images. Thus, to save loading time and bandwidth, I decided to use PHP to pull ten images from an SQL database, formatting the output in XML. The slideshow itself works fine. Unfortunately, there are a couple of issues I need to address; my ActionScript is extremely rusty, so much of my work's patchy.

The code in red is my main focus. It's the loop which loads all images as movie clips using the XML information from an array. The loop loads all of the images, making them transparent before the presentation begins. What I would like to do instead, to save loading time, is to load the next image while the current one is displaying. The function "moveSlide" controls the transition of the images, so I'd imaging it'd be best to plade it in there.
There's already an incremental variable being used, with _root.target_mc, for removing transparency from the current slide. The code in blue is also nagging me quite severely. I retrieve the next chain of slides by simply contacting the PHP script again. The only way I could think of doing that was to refresh the slideshow (this is done COMPLETELY in ActionScript, with nothing on the stage). Unfortunately, I could only work out how to reload the whole video.
Creating a dynamic scroll panel using two objects from my library and accessing images from a folder using some basic XML. The ScrollPanel loads fine, the 6 instances of the empty movieclip holders load. The function that traces the instance of the movieClip names is working. My trouble is accessing the instances of the movies to load the loaders in order to view the jpgs called from the folder. I receive an "access of undefined property" message if I type thumbLoad0.addChild(pic1ldr); etc, which you will see at the very bottom.

I need to be able to have the function return a value of a variable within itself and be able to target that value outside the function..
I am using Flash CS3 and Actionscript 2.0.I want to make a photo.jpg that is in my images folder load into a swf that is in a swf folder. It works fine when I have the photo.jpg in the same folder as the swf. But it does not work when I have the photo.jpg in a different folder. What must I do to the AS2 to make this happen? I am sending out a standalone player that uses an xml driven image gallery. I need to prevent changes to the xml file to stop images being added to the gallery. I can can password protect the xml file to prevent changes, but I also wondered if there was a way to validate the authenticity of the xml file from within Flash to prevent the entire file being replaced?

It is very cool but it is kind of a pain as I have to manually type each pic name in the xml file. Is there a way that I can modify either the xml or the fla to just pull the pics from a folder? Maybe two folders one for the pics and one for the thumbs?

I'm working on a gallery with slider control that must display several thousand images.
1) The images must load dynamically just before they appear on stage and remove images / listeners as they leave the stage.
2) Have the images slide left / right with the slider.
best ways to dynamically load the images? I considered adding placeholder mcs on the stage, performing a check to see if the mc was within bounds and then loading it, but the player will definitely chug with several thousand mcs on stage.
I bought a website template that has a scrolling photo gallery. As it came, the images are static in the fla file itself. I would like to edit the fla and load images dynamically. Ideally from MSSQL. I'm using VS2010, C# webforms, and SQL Server 2008 R2. Are there any code snippets or tutorials or general guidance on how to do this? I do have a CS3 disc with Flash on it I can use for editing.

I thought I could do it with an append child to the xml but flash cant write to file. I was going to use filereference and then save the file in the flash folder and add the new object to the xml file, but this is the wrong route.

i am relatively new to flash and actionscript 3 but i have been recently making a website and i have got to a stage where one page is pulling in SWF's via an XML document. There are left and right arrows which load up the next/previous SWF. The right arrow works fine, it loads the next one up and then due to some AS3 code when it gets to the end it loops back around. The left arrow goes back a frame until it comes to the beginning and it wont loop to the end. Below is a copy of the code that i am using. I am aware that i need to create the event listener for the arrow and i am fine with that, its just the function to go with it that i am struggling with.

A couple days I started a topic about how to load a folder of pictures into a flash movie(photo gallery).
With some tutorials I almost got it but something is not working very good.The images are displayed to big. They apear out of the box they should be in.
I dont know where to look anymore... is there someone that can take a look at my files?
I will attach them in a .zip file. (the "img" map is empty because the file was to big)
How would you defer loading of other graphics on the page until after the images in a Flash gallery's images.xml file are finished loading?Is there any way to detect for this, or would I only be able to check if the flash swf object is finished loading? I'm pretty sure the swf object would be loaded/ready as with document.getElementById('flashobject').onload = function(){}; before the corresponding images have loaded though, instead of after.

But when I try to load the swf file into html, the images only load if the html file is in the same folder as the swf.I'm not sure if this is related to a problem with the xml link in the swf file or something else... this is how the xml is being called from the swf:
