If the canvas size to change dynamically(canvas.width, canvas.height), canvas boundaries are virtually absent. How to dynamically change the size of the Canvas?

Even the Stage size. once he change in admin module it will generate one xml file. from which i am fetching all the information. Now i don't have any idea that whether it is possible to change the stage size dynamically on fly. He want only one standalone swf no supporting files.

When i test the movie in flash itself everything works fine, but when i open the movie in IE or the stand alone flash player, details_txt and length_txt are both empty.
i have an array containing the frame numbers and i would like to add an onload event so a random frame from this array would be played on load
View 7 RepliesI'm working on a basic flash gallery, when the user clicks a thumbnail, the large image above it will load (using loadMovie ("whatever.jpg")...that's all working fine, but I want to have the image center on a frame once it's fully loaded since I have some portrait and some landscape images. What I'm wondering is, is there a simple way to check if a jpg has been completely loaded, similar to an xml.onLoad = function()? I've tried the getBytesLoaded and getBytesTotal thing as well as an onEnterFrame that checks the width but these have both had issues, maybe there's just some really simple way to check?

I was hoping to either change the image the Graphic is an instance of or change the Graphic I am using in the current frame.
Addition: Could I have a layer for each Graphic and then using action script choose which layer shows?

I want to reduce the size of Swf using the size mentioned in the object tag of html. Same swf file size can be different for different request.
The problem is this if we reduce the size all control in swf reduced according to the change in swf size. But we want the buttons and one more graphics remain same size for any change in size of swf file. How can we make it ..
I made a preloader for my single scene movie and although the preloader is about 16k, when placed into frame 1 of the movie and tested, the frame is shown to have about 256k, which is larger than the movie it's loading. I've gone through all the files and made sure that export in frame 1 is not checked and made sure the publish settings also are set to export in frame 1.
View 5 RepliesI am writting an image gallery that loads one intial xml file named galleries.xml.From this point each xml node loads a XMl file for that gallery that holds all the images.The problem arises in the fact that to do this I need a onload function within an onload function.Onload functions dont accept parameters so I can pass down the variable that shows what loop the gallery loop is on as I need that in the function that holds the images.
View 4 Repliesa_modified_dog suggested, and was kind enough to provide working code in the thread, Assign text to dynamic text fields on different frames, using the "onChanged" event placing code in the main time line of both frames 1 and 2 of a Flash Actionscript 2 movie. The "onChanged" event has been designed apparently for input style text fields only - requiring the user to input text. The code example provided works well for that sequence. But my intended sequence of user events does not permit the user to input a text value. The "onChanged" event does not work with the following intended sequence of user actions:
(1) the user makes a selection from a scrolling list of items that appear within a movie clip (MC1) on frame 1. The list is comprised of a number of selectable buttons.
(2) When the user clicks a button (BTN1) contained in MC1, the onRelease event assigns a string value to a text box (TXT1) within a separate movie clip (MC2) on frame 1. (this is working well)
(3) the user then clicks a stand alone button (separateBtn) on frame 1 that invokes a "gotoAndStop" at frame 2. (no problem)
(4) The text (TXT1) from within the movie clip (MC2) on frame 1 needs to be assigned to a text box (TXT2) on the stage of frame 2. (BIG PROBLEM)
I've played with both dynamic text fields and input text fields. Using the "onChanged" event works well with input text fields IF the user actually enters text into the input text box. Using the intended sequence, a text value is being assigned to TXT1 in MC2 by a button "onRelease" event from within MC1. This same text value (TXT1) should also appear in the text box TXT2 on frame 2. I've tried both input and dynamic style text boxes for TXT1. Both work well for showing the assigned text string on frame 1. Both styles also, when advancing to frame 2, show "undefined" in the corresponding text box (TXT2) on frame 2. Neither input or dynamic style of text box seem to recognize the "onChange" event - from having no text when starting up to having text within TXT1 dynamically appear after the user makes their selection from the button (BTN1)event (onRelease) in MC1.I tried assigning the text in TXT1 on frame 1 to a variable (var_txt1) - in the main time line - and having TXT2 on frame 2 read and assign the variable to TXT2 (TXT2.text = var_txt1), scripting also on the main timeline of frame 2.. Again, all attempts result in "undefined" appearing in TXT2 instead of the variable value (var_txt1). Using 'trace" on frame 1 shows the correct value for the variable (var_txt1). When advancing to frame 2, "trace" shows "undefined".
I am making a quiz/game, and it works like this, two teams that have to take over the united states, by answering history questions, so right now I have it were when you click on a state, it takes you to a question (on a different frame in the main timeline), then I have a problem, if you get the question right it takes you to the "board" of the United States (that works), but when you are back the color of the state should change its color to red (on frame of the clip) if south got it and blue (another frame of the clip) if north got itBut instead i changes back to grey (default color, all start grey to begin with). I don't and can't seem to figure this out

The script involved in the frames are FRAME here:

When I test the movie and click the button, the frames don't seem to change.
I got a MovieClip filled with a lot of others clips... When I change de X or Y value of this first MovieClip the frame rate slows down for during 1 frame. For exemple... I created a counter that returns around 30 mseconds every frame, but when I do this X or Y change the return is around 400 mseconds... When I try to fill the first MovieClip with less information it goes faster, about 100+-200 mseconds...
View 6 RepliesI am doing one completely dynamic interface which is control by an admin module. what i want to do is to control the stage size by this admin module.When i press submit in the admin module it will generate one xml file which is connected to the flash flie, and what ever the size is mention in that xml that has to reflect in that flash file. I don't want any supporting file only one swf. I don't know whether it is possible to adjust the stage size dynamically on fly.

View 5 Repliesi would like to know if its possible to dynamically change a movie size from a start HTML page. for example, if i want my movie to be completely seen on a 15" and a 19" monitor. i place 2 buttons on my HTML start page saying if you click here, you will get the 15" monitor version of my flashsite. if you click here you will get the 19" monitor version. and i only have one flashsite version which i want to dynamically change the size of from the HTML page. possible? not possible? if its not possible, then i have to make 2 version of my movie to fit 2 screen sizes..
