Sep 29, 2004

Ive been searching high and low to find out how i can dynamically load an image into a container [i.e. im using the xml_photogallery tut. template] and setting it so that it scales to fit specific dimensions. At the moment Im having to resize images in photoshop so that it fits with in the container/webcontents dimensions. ActionScript 2.0 :: Get Image File Size Prior To Loading?

Oct 16, 2009

I am using the MovieClipLoader class to load a bunch of images, and I am trying to build a loader that has a single percentage for the whole batch of images. I need the.bytesTotalof every image prior to loading them, so that I know the total number of bytes I am working with to calculate the total percent of all images that have been downloaded.

My issue is that it seems to be loading the images in a generally linear way (loads all of the first pic, then starts loading the second pic, etc...) and .bytesTotal is returning as 0 for all pics that have not yet started loading.

Anyone know how I can grab the total bytes of each image prior to the actual download of the image?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Component - Scroll Panel Get Stuck While Loading And Doesn't Display The Full Size Image

Sep 10, 2008

I made a flash website with photo galleries using a component that I bought online. The component is loading the image in a thumbnail scroll bar via a XML file and the full size image display in a UILoader. So far nothing special. But when I reach a certain amount of pictures in the gallery, the scroll panel get stuck while loading and doesn't display the full size image. Then the thumbnails don't react at all.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Image-performance Questions (jpg Vs Png, Smoothing, Image Size, Etc)?

Feb 28, 2011

I've done quite a bit of digging but it's surprisingly difficult to find informed answers to these questions. I'm making a Flash game with a friend; as far as we can tell, the code is fine, but there are some serious framerate problems that seem entirely related to the graphics.

Is there a performance difference between Movieclips as JPGs and PNGs? Most of our graphics are imported as PNGs because they have transparent sections, but I don't know whether there is a performance difference between setting image compression to JPG or PNG within Flash itselfDoes turning on "Smoothing" for an image affect performance?Obviously larger graphics have more of a performance hit, but is there any benefit to splitting a large image into pieces? Example, changing a 2000*1000 background into two 1000*1000 pieces? One thing is most of our graphics are as much as twice the size in the library as they are displayed onscreen, then scaled in the code. We had wanted to make the game still look good when zoomed in/fullscreened but that doesn't seem practical so I'm planning on resizing all of the image files to their final size in the game and removing the scaling code. Hopefully that's the major part of the problem.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading Swf's Into Specific Frames?

Feb 2, 2010

I'm having a some trouble with loading an SWF into my main SWF. I have a main SWF with 4 frames. I want to click two buttons that will then load two SWF's into Frame 2 and Frame 3. Below is the script I wrote for the buttons. The earlywork_btn needs to load RColeman_EarlyWork.swf into frame 2. This swf is a slide show. The currentwork_btn needs to load RColemna_CurrentWork.swf into frame 3.

HERE IS MY SCRIPTS FOR MY BUTTONS:

stop();
function onbiographybuttonClick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
gotoAndStop("1");

[code]....

And in Frame 2 I have this script to load RColeman_EarlyWork.swf. It works, however, once it loads then it is in my enitre main swf file, basically each time I click a button it is ontop of the content in the other frames. How do I make it just stay in Frame 2? Also, I can only load this one swf file, not the other one into FRAME 3.

HERE IS MY SCRIPT TO LOAD THE SWF FILES:

var ldr:Loader = new Loader();
var url:String = "RColeman_EarlyWork.swf";
var urlReq:URLRequest = new URLRequest(url);
ldr.load(urlReq);
addChild(ldr);

Loading A Specific Frame In An External SWF

Sep 13, 2009

I have two flash files, say a.swf and b.swf.a.swf is the main swf file, embedded in an HTML page for a webpage. There is a preloader in a.swf too. In b.swf, when I click a specific button I need to load a.swf, but not from the preloader, from the content. To be precise, the content starts from Frame 24 of a.swf (obviously Preloader ends in Frame 23). I believe, the frame 24 has to be loaded in a.swf when I click the button in b.swf.

Actionscript 3.0 :: Loading Swf's Into Specific Depth?

Mar 15, 2009

I have managed to load external swf's fine and also unload them when a new one is loaded, but now I need the swf's that are loaded to appear below (meaning on a lower layer effectively) than my navigation, which is in the main swf. I hope that makes sense.I can get that to happen by creating a movieClip on the stage on a layer beneath the one my navigation is on and loading the swf into that mc, but then I don't know how to clear the swf from that mc so another one can load there in it's place.Here is the code I have so far:

Code: Select all//Universal Button Function
function buttonClick(event:MouseEvent):void

Using AS3 how can you load an external swf file at a specific frame of the newly loaded swf file.Using the AS3 loader class I have no problem loading an external image or swf movie onto the stage.But what I want to do is when the swf is loaded, go to the second frame (labeled "two") of that loaded swf.

For example, My main movie "main.swf" is blank.My external movie "loadMe.swf" has a circle on frame one and a square on frame 2.On the main movie (main.swf) is a button and when you click on it I want the square on frame two of "loadMe.swf" to appear.
