ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash8 Numerical Sort - If The One Of The Numbers Has A Higher Digit Value, It Ignores The Statement Entirely?

I defined an array construct and assigned two variables to part of the array so I can simple sort it:
number1 = array[i]
number2 = array[i+1]
if(number1 > number2){
...swap etc
Problem is, when I try the comparason if the one of the numbers has a higher digit value, it ignores the statement entirely. Eg If 16 > 8 it skips it. So I tried adding '16' and '08' into the array and that worked perfectly with the statement.

Is there any way to force a two digit number with actionscript? Say, for instance, that I have a for loop that traces the numbers 1 through 9. In the output panel, I only get one digit numbers: 1, 2, 3,...9. Is there any way to make the trace output be 01, 02, 03,...09?
Obviously I could use an if statement to manually add zeros to all numbers that are less than 10, but is there a cleaner way to do it?

How do I find the digit sum of a floating point number?* (Eg Math.pow(10,100)). The correct answer would be 1. I have tried writing two functions, function A does not work for floating point numbers due to it converting numbers to strings, function B does not work for Math.pow(10,100) and other floating point numbers).
Specially: (1 with X zeros) % 10 = not 0, according to flash.
*Alternatively, what method can I use that gives me the last digit of a floating point number, and works for 1 with some number of zeros?

I have a datagrid. I add a row to the datagrid using an ADD button. Once I add, I sort the datagrid based on a column. I also provide the serial numbers i.e. row numbers as first column to the datagrid. But, the serial number function does not apply after sorting. Hence, a new row added for e.g. row 5, based on sorting should be row 1, the serial number displayed is still row 5. The UI looks bad as numbers are not in correct order. the code is:[code]

Is there a way to have more conditions in an "if" statement? For example I have 3 conditions:
condition 1: a=5
condition 2: b=3
condition 3: c=12
So, if a=5, b=3 and c=12, I want to trace("success") for example. But it's necessary that all 3 conditions are executed. How can I do that?

I want to declare a variable on the main timeline that can be called from anywhere in my movie. So, _global var should be the right approach. I want to declare a movie clip 'MC1' "open", or "closed" so that when it is revisited, my flash file knows the user has been there before and performs a different task from the one it does when 'MC1' was first encountered. Normally, I'd just like to sort the array alphabetically using the name field, which is easy enough using the following code. However, I'd like to create a radio button called 'loadedRadioButton' and when it's click on, I'd like to sort the array on the loaded value first(any items with loaded=true should be at the top, sorted alphabetically), then afterwards, any other items with loaded=false, sorted alphabetically should follow afterwards, how can I do it?

I want to have a text with digit size of about 300, but at a certain digit size, when i increase the digit size more, it will not increase in the swf file (even though it will increase as i intended in the .fla file).Is there a max digit size, and if so, can i increase it, and if not, why is this happening?the textfield is a dynamic textfield made in the .fla file (so not in as3).

Is it possible to access a certain digit in a string? For example, if i currently had a value '321' then if i clicked on a button for example it changed the 2nd digit in the string to say 5...making it '352'.

When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I thought I was only sorting it once, not applying a sort that will stick??Here is the method for adding an item:

I've recently downloaded the Flash CS5 and we wanted to upgrade license, but we experience VERY bad problem.Steps:
1. Create blank FLA AS 3.0 movie.
2. Add to first frame (stage), for example, TextArea component and name it "xxx".
3. Set in "Properties" window in "Component Parameters" tab:text - "hello world"maxChars - 10
4. Add script to first frame with next code:[code]
SO NUMERICAL PARAMETERS DON'T WORK! I not a new to Flash. Have worked more than 5 years with this. Also we've tested such behaviour with latest (downloaded today and yesterday) packages from OFFICIAL url...we've tested this behavoiur on different machines, with different operating systems.
