Because of SEO considerations I am trying to use flash as little as possible in my site. I need it though for uploading files. I like to have an accurate progress bar and I find flash is great for this.Anyway once my file is uploaded, successfully, I would like the flash to go away (either exit or hide itself) and reveal an "Add To Basket" button underneath which is written in HTML.Failing that, is there a way to get flash to change a CSS style of an object so I could have my Add To basket button hidden and then made visible when the flash tell it?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Hide Errors While Publishing In Browser?

Aug 21, 2009

I coded this website in a super hurry. I know it is very bad practice but the code does have some unresolved issues. However that in no way affects the functionality of the site (I checked it completely) But firefox, chrome etc show a bunch of as3 errors and the user has to dismiss the errors to go anywhere in the site. I really have no time to fix each error for this project, especially since they do not affect the functionality of the site. Is there a way to hide these errors while publishing?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flvplayback Component Buttons Don't Auto-Hide Sometimes In Some Browser?

Dec 21, 2008

I was wondering if anyone knew how to hide the skin in the flvplayback component on ROLL_OUT. SkinAutoHide seems to work whenever it feels like it and sometimes the button controls just stay over the video. This happens in Safari and IE I believe. I am used Actionscipt 3.0OR does anyone know how to get to the display list of the component, where all the names to all the buttons (and skin) is housed, using the instance names from the component fla file does not work. I looked at the documentation and the names of all the button sprites are there, but i need the name of the background that the buttons sit on top of.

ActionScript 2.0 :: GetDate To Dynamically Mark Recent Changes?

Sep 15, 2005

I'm making a blog/journal in flash that I will manually update, and there will be a list of entries in a menu. I would like the newer entries tinted red so they are obviously new at a glance. I would like them to stay red for a week, then automatically remove the tint.

So I'm guessing that when I manually update the entry, I could just plug in the current date into a field in the AS, and it would use the computers clock to find out if a week had passed or not.

Professional :: Flash CS 5.5 - Loading Recent Item Fails

Dec 22, 2011

Flash CS 5.5 (11.5.1.349)
Mac OS 10.6.8

Situation: Work on a file, save it, and close it (example file is stored on local drive). Attempt to reload the file using the recent items list from the splash screen:
File does not load, and output screen message appears:
The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:
Cannot find file /Volumes/users/mt/Desktop/Working Files/TMK2079_HI/Flash/TMK2079_HI-SQ.fla.
This is the file just saved by Flash... and it cannot locate it. I can browse with File > Open, so it is not a critical work loss or stoppage issue, but it is annoying that it happens. It only seems to affect Flash as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop behave as expected with the recent files. It seems to be able to find files saved to a network location, but not to the local machine (in this case a folder on the desktop). I tried renaming the "Working Files" folder to remove the space, but the issue persists. I tried a search but didn't get any hits that seemed relevant.

Php :: File Upload Workaround For Recent Flash Vulnerability

There was a recent Flash vulnerability found that allows for the potential of malicious attacks when someone uploads a flash file or a file embedded with flash (for example, a gif overloaded)According to the article, even a simple image can be hijacked.In php, the typical ways of checking a file type are by extension, and by mime-type.Using the simple example of an image, how would php properly vet a file (as is recommended in the article). Mime types can be spoofed, as can extension, and if the file is piggy-backed, what is the workaround?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash Store (unlimited?) History In XML?

Apr 6, 2012

As a personal project, I'm working on a language-learning flash game.I'm looking at the information I'll need to store in various XML documents.I'm implementing a 'history' feature whereby, for any given word in the database, for any given user, a comprehensive history of data is stored. With this data, I can generate all sorts of fancy graphs to track any given user's progress.For example:You have been asked the word 'cat' 10 times. From data stored in the XML document, the game generates a graph of the time it took to answer each of those 10 times. (So in a perfect world, you see a nice downward curve. Congrats.)My question is how to organise the XML document (if that's the way to go with this) so that it is as efficient as possible.Right now, I can only see the brute force approach: have a limited number of predefined history states (say 99), and write data to these each time 'cat' comes up. Once they're full, overwrite.

Code:
<user#>
<word#321>

Css :: Flex Appending History Tracking Elements Below Application

May 22, 2009

I've got a Flex application that uses link buttons. As soon as I incorporated the link buttons (I assume) the Flex framework started putting history tracking elements below the app in the DOM. For example IE6-8 get an iframe element with id of ie_historyFrame, chrome/safari get a safari_rememberDiv and FF gets a firefox_anchorDiv.

Now, there would be no problem if these elements were hidden by the framework, but they're not. The sit underneath the Flex app (visually and in the DOM) and have a bunch of serialized history data.

I was wondering, is there a way to hide them through configuration or code? I know I could hide them via CSS but it just seems nasty that I'd have to use CSS for something that Flex is supposed to manage. I want the application to be site independent.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Recent Socket Data Transfer Performance Decreased On Macintosh Systems?

Feb 1, 2012

I'm using a .swf to connect to a socket and stream data as fast as possible for 60 seconds to measure connectivity speed.In other words a speed test.In the past say month or two, I've found Macintosh systems 10.5 and higher experience a significant slow down, In testing I see my socket connect and reach about 2.5Mbps - 3.5Mbps and literally stick as though the .swf was throttling the connection.

This 'problem' is random and appears to come and go. I've tested this in Chrome,Firefox and Safari with all the same results.Using the exact same test on any Windows or Linux OS works totally fine.Admittedly I'm an ActionScript novice however the code I'm using is below and has worked for some time up until recently.

ActionScript Code:
var s:Socket;
var Tbytes:Number = 0;

Flash :: IE History Tracking / IFRAMES And Cross Domain Error

Jun 2, 2010

We have a Flash application that is running within an HTML file.For one page we call a legacy reporting system in ASP.NET that is within an IFRAME. This page then communicates back to the Flash application using cross-domain scripting (document.domain = "domain" is set in both pages. Now the kicker. Flash has history tracking enabled.This loads the history.js file that created a div tag to store page changes so the back and forward buttons work in the browser.Which works for Firefox and Chrome as they create a div tag.In Internet Explorer, history.js creates another IFRAME (instead of a DIV) called ie_historyFrame.When the ScriptResource.axd code attempts to access this with:[code]At my wit's end on this one.We have users who need to use IE to access this site. They are big clients who we cannot tell to just use Firefox.
